Happy leather crafting.
I love to watch a Craftsman! It’s not a job, it’s a love at work. You remind me of the “old” world craftsman that puts their heart and sole into each and every stroke of the blade to the final steps of dying and finishing. You always can tell it’s a work of Art, when the craftsman adds his or her “Maker’s Mark”! Best regards, Richard…
Thank you! Always a pleasure to watch a true craftsman at work. One who gives his attention to the smallest detail. I always learn so much, thanks again.
Thanks for your message, glad you enjoyed
youre welcome Charlie, thanks for watching our videos.
Great video. I really like the way you explain the things.
So Charlene & Terrick, I just found your channel search thing for tutorials on how to make aprons. I'm a beginning leathercrafter who has forever wanted to be involved in the craft, but life and family and career... now I have the opportunity to get involved in all of the hobbies and crafts that I diddnt have money or time for before: blacksmithing, woodworking, leathercraft, hot rod building, knifemaking and furniture building. I have been a Welder/fabricator for 45 years and I'm looking forward to the next 35 in my new business designing and building industrial furniture.
My luck finding you folks as I will learn a great deal from you.
Did I hear you say that you are making that round knife? I very much enjoy making my own tools and machines as well.
Cheers to you
It seems as though you have all of the same interests I do! I wish i had a bit more background in a trade to help, but learning is a lot of fun! Im sure ill see you around the youtube world, lol
Really nice apron. Looks very soft and comfortable. Most aprons are uncomfortable and stiff. Your artistry is amazing. Best regards, Richard....
Great video(s), Terrick. You do an excellent job with clear explanations. Not so many people are showing the details of quality and traditional techniques. I'd love to see you do a video on sewing something in the round with a butt stitch, like a dice cup or map case from thicker, firm leather.
awesome! totally awesome!
i want to make a tool pouch but first maybe something more practical like a welding bib, perhaps some arm and foot protection as i use ballistic nylon boots for breathability due to diabetic feet.
Great looking apron man I’ve made 2 leather and 1 canvas and bought upper class canvas one there worn out and trashed now I need to make another one of leather.
Fantastic work .... really enjoying seeing the craft.
What a nice video. I literally cannot do w/o my french curves. Nearly every pattern has been created w/ this amazing tool. Nice work
Thank you, you are wonderful
Sir, thank you. I’ve learned so much from you. Respect!
Nice job on the apron! You are a true craftsman, thanks for the video.
Brilliant 👌 thanks for sharing the pattern and a run down on how it’s made, look forward to making this apron myself one day!
you're welcome Kevin
Good video! I've been putting off making an apron for a long time but I think I'll make one.
Thanks for sharing
Hi there. I've been following your channel for quite sometime and enjoying your videos. Can you make a video about choosing the right leather for certain item such as knife sheath, wallet ect? Thank you
Thanks for watching and Yeah that is a video I can definitely do
@@CHARTERMADE Thank you.
Beautiful work as always. Thanks for sharing, educating and entertaining us all.
Looks like that circular metal tool you use to cut round corners is a valve end from a vehicle engine, correct? Whatever it is, it looks very useful!!
Awesome, Terrick! Cannot wait to make this bad boy. Love your vids, very inspiring. All the best
I've got my blade and it's SHARP!
Thanks for sharing this video and apron pattern. I'm hoping to make one for myself.
youre welcome Jason, and enjoy using your blade. thank you for supporting our work.
Cheers! Thanks for another wonderful set of tips to help me on my way.
Great job and well explained. I wish to try to make one the same. May i ask what leather should I search for and the thickness please ?
Thank you for the free download! I can’t wait to make!
Love seeing and learning quality workmanship. Thank you for so much of your time! Would really like the pattern for the bag you made for your wife to take to hospital. Will you share it with me/us?
Great vids, i would love to see one about pattern making... How do you know how much room to leave for pockets/ stretching? Gussets? And which leather to use for what... Thanks :)
👍I’ve recently found your channel and have been binge watching. I appreciate this and other types of handmade work so much. Love your expertise. The editing and music is nice (surprised by some of the fun music too😉). Thanks for sharing. 💞
Very Good
Hi could you possibly do a video of you making a knife and a leather sheath
Those leather hides are beautiful ..hello Terrick I'm also in Australia, I found your facebook page and website
Thanks for showing , your work is really amazing. Have you ever done a dog collar? Regards Jules, Droitwich, England
Love the videos and thanks for the free pattern. I wish you had a mic on so I could hear you better or clearer
Another great project and video...👍
Thanks, and thanks for the pattern!
Looks like great fun. Do you sell the aprons or just show people how to make things n such?
Careful what you ask for. I'd like a video on that stitching elephant that usually sits on the shelf behind you. (I call it an elephant because its too big to call it a horse and any sort of mollusk would be an insult) What are the design elements that went into it and why? Thanks.
Наконец-то я нашла видео, как сделать кожаный фартук. Мне нужен для садовых работ. Телефон, секатор, ножницы, таппинер и мн. др. Спасибо.
Thank you so much for the apron pattern. I love your chanel. Have a good one. Best regards from the coast of south brittany / France ;-)
Hi Terrick, you make excellent videos! I am taking up on your offer to ask what to build (if you have time) but I know this item is old school but I just cannot find one and decided I'll make my own (after learning the basic art) and it's a cellphone holster that you put on your belt with multiple pockets for cards, pen, etc. Will you be willing to do this?
I would like to see a leather back pack for a welding hood and pockets for welding gear
Another cool video man! Can anyobody tell me what these brass revet- fastener hings are called? and maybe where to find them and the tool to install them?? thanks!
Beautiful apron Terrick, thanks for the video guys !
Could you advise how I could get my hands on those rivets you use in Joburg please ?
drop me an email - chartermade@gmail.com
Where could I get those rivets
Great, I will make one for myself right now. Also I would like to see you make a hat. Chao
Thank you for sharing your craft and I appreciate your attitude very much so
Thanks for your message
Hey there. Love your videos. Just purchased your skiving knife from RM Leather. Sooooo good!!! Ever do a chefs knife roll/bag? I would love to see how you would execute it. Keep up the great work man!!
Thanks for a great video!
I love the videos you have on leather craft. I'm just starting. I've noticed that all your tools are sold out. Is it that they are no longer available or is it because they sell too quickly ? I would love to buy some of your tools that you manufacture
Terrick...please show us how you would make a lady's small "clutch" purse with a shoulder strap.
Thank you and keep making your great videos!
That just might be a soon to be made video as my wife Charlene is making those as Christmas gifts this year :)
Thank you for the pattern I'm looking forward to making my very own apron. One question what weight leather did you use?
👍That type of animal leather is quite beautiful. 😍
I found some info on the Internet about the Gemsbok and Beisa Oryx
“Many antelopes have impressive horns, but these two species take the grandeur to new levels. Rising straight and true for almost a metre, the horns are dignified markers of status. They’re very closely related, Beisa oryx inhabiting Kenya and Tanzania, and gemsbok found on the arid savannahs of Southern Africa, especially Namibia where they grace the country’s coat of arms.” - The Internet
Enjoy all your videos. What were the thicknesses of leather used? Or did I miss them on video.
On veg tanned, it's possible & user friendly?
Great channel. Just found it today. Where can I purchase the brass rivets that you use
Hi man, what do you call that green cover plate on your work top?
Thank you Friend I'm just learning the craft. I was checking out my Utube channel dr bushcraft, & was watching you great job.
5:17 Fossilized mammoth what? I can't quite catch what you're saying.
Boa tarde Borban feliz Natal prosperidade neste ano que se inicia 2024 seja de muita paz
where in SA do you source your leather from?
Wonderful video as always! Do you usually cut straps freehand? Why not use a strap cutter?
Cutting it free hand only takes a couple seconds longer and I get to enjoy using my knife :) If I was cutting lots of the same thing I would use a strap cutter
CHARTERMADE makes sense. Thanks!
I don't think Terrick makes a strap cutter :) Different people use different tools to accomplish the same task. If I had my way and could justify the cost, then I would have a plough gauge instead I settle for the poor mans version which is a strap cutter.
I like the looks of your knives but their priced for the rich well off people, working man as myself can’t afford to invest that much in a knife, I’d like to try one out but don’t see it happening,
Nice apron!!
Are you going to make more pattern knives anytime soon???
Busy on them at the moment. Everything is handmade so even making a few can take a good while. They will be up on our website this weekend.
...тоже использую автомобильные клапана для скругления
thanks for the pattern :)
Hi Terrick. I am considering buying your blade for L Indispensible, but I am not sure what bevel to buy. I watched your video and your measurements, right handed one is when bevel is on the left which lets your hand to be in comfortable position. My concern is, that I am afraid that if I cut leather with ruler is that my cut will have an angle. And also, I've seed video from LowTideLeather about your blade, and he recommended to buy left handed version(he is right handed). Could you please tell me if it is a real concern or I will get used to bevel on the left easily, or it is better to consider left handed for me(I am right handed and beginner)
Hi Pavel. Thanks for the comment. I have designed the blade primarily for freehand, delicate cuts. for this, the right hand blade with the left bevel excels because it allows for the natural camber of the hand to create clean cuts, so the blades primary function is not to cut against a ruler, even though it can be used for that. I personally use the right handed blade and I am right handed, and I do also use it against a metal ruler for straight cuts too. I did watch the the video you are referring to (thanks for pointing it out, what a great channel :) ) We do have a video explaining the difference in more detail ua-cam.com/video/7xDOuyOHIHM/v-deo.html
I hope this helps you decide.
HI there - Is there somewhere I can get this pattern? Your link doesn't work, as your site is "under construction". I guess I shouldn't have waited to download it.
Never mind - I am dumb./ All I needed to do was actually read the info on the website - thanks for the free pattern
Types and gauge of leather- guide.
More wallets in detail.
More pattern making/design
Business structure
Marketting a making business.
I would like to see a hatchet or axe cover/sheath.
Thanks for the suggestion
Nice video, but I'm not giving you all of my personal info to download a free pdf. LOL
Фартук хороший , кожа примерно 3мм. наверно тяжеловат .
Why do you use a knife that is not a full half round or mostly full...... rather it's a modified version?
This is my design that I make and sell. There is a full video describing this "pattern knife" on my channel
Good technical tips there, cheers. I'm tempted to make one out of kangaroo hide
That would make for a nice apron
I think that would probably take about one and a half skins and cost a fortune, I would wear out for special events such as weddings rather than work in it :)
@@dmail00 ...it would look great with a tux though... 🤔
“Don’t normally take on these types of projects”
👏😊
Could you tell me what belt grinder did you use in this video? ua-cam.com/video/YPOB8qwvj8g/v-deo.html
Audio is way to low
When does he get to the Jewish over representation stats of podcasts?
Thanks for the video Terrick. I would be really interested in seeing one or more videos using other leathers which are local to you, do they take a crease easily, easy to skive, bevel well ... However, it may be best as a sponsored video teaming up with a local tannery otherwise they could be expensive videos to make.
That might be something we look into for the future then, thanks for the comment.
