Loved this video and thanks for explaining the name. There is nothing better than a good woman; except top shelf leather and metal working skills and a good woman.
Seeing the litl indespensible blade running through the leather like butter was incredible. Your knifes are totally on the list of must have for the future!
Marvellous. I love watching you at work. So precise and so organic too. I've just started in leather work at the youthful age of 54! Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!?
Thank you for this video. The stress we are under with all the virus crap and the news events and issues and strife has been weighing heavily on me as of late, so this was really what the doctor ordered. Peaceful creativity and a love of craftsmanship is so apparent. Even the music was thoughtful and calming. I may watch this again. Cheers.
Thank you, all the filming and editing is done by my wife Charlene, the CHAR part of CHARTERMADE. She has worked really hard learning how to do this so your compliment is much appreciated
I second the sentiments about the presentation and content. I found it moving and very enjoyable. It's a pleasure to watch you work, almost as much as it is to use your knives! Thank you for all that you do.
Love the content and presentation... Really glad I found your channel. As a small time hobbyist, doing small stuff for me and those close to me, I really had to think pretty hard about getting your blade with the l'dispensible but I love a good blade. It didn't disappoint! Fantastic blade... Thanks for sharing your craft.
CHARTERMADE hallo, PLEASE make same new „Chartermade pattern Knives“ same whit horn & Antik blade ! Please BRO PLEASE I want to buy 1 of your AWESOME TOOL❣️ a friend have one (& don‘t wonna sale 😭) & I work whit it & only what I can say is WTF that’s awesome & absolutely the right tool for me!!! Hope I can buy 1 next month!!! 🤞🏾& thx 4 answer !
Haven’t seen one of your videos in a while. Love them! I hope you are doing well and thank you for the tips. They have helped my leather making hobby (so has your replaceable blade). One day I will be able to get one of your pattern knives.
Just received my replacement blade/brass handle set from Rocky Mountain Leather. I love it. I was surprised to see you running it along the edge of a metal ruler. Will that not damage the blade? I guess not. Using it that way will make cutting patterns so much easier!
Hi, i would like to make a video request. What about a leather jacket? I think that would be a suitable challenge aswell as very pleasing to watch. Love your videos!
Man I've missed you and your videos! Terrick, I've been getting back into my shop slowly after the accident. The PTSD is still tough, but I'm making progress and getting ready to make knives, woodcrafts and of course leather...
Binge watched all your videos mate, and LOVE them, really terrific to see a craftsman at work and get some great tips. Ive recently retired and have been woodworking for years as a hobby. But Ive wanted to get back into leatherwork for ages, as I made quite a few projects in my younger days, and being retired has given me the opportunity to do a few more of the things Ive enjoyed over the years. Some things have changed a lot in 50 years, but others seem exactly the same😊😊. One question I have - what glue are you using? I always used to use stinky contact adhesive...had to go outside as the missus wouldnt let me use it in the house😂😂. Yours looks a lot like PVA, which would surprise me...and is it the same glue that you are using to seal the edges? Or am I missing it entirely lol?
Terrick, you mention that the right-hand version of your blade has the bevel on the left side. Why is that? I would think having a straight surface against the steel ruler would cut closer to the scratch line and be more consistent. Just trying understand the principles I'm missing here. Looking at buying one this week. Thanks!
So I noticed you only skived the edges on the card holder tabs. I’ve got. A prototype wallet made out of card stock for my boss but he wants like a total of 10 card slots. Will I run into thickness issues if I am stacking almost 5-6 card slots on one side without skiving the entire card holder piece?
I am looking at getting one of those brass knives with your replacement blade but as a right handed wouldn’t I want the flat on my left side so it fits flat against a ruler? Also love the video and the information you give out such an inspiration for me to continue on this leather craft journey
I absolutely love the blades for my L'Indispensable handle. Wow, do they hold an edge! That vertical wallet has beautiful, clean lines. Which thread size did you use? Lin Cable? Thank you.
Like the way you present work methods and tips. New to leather work. And my goal are to make my own leather gloves. I got big hands (size 12-13) , and that I never find to by. Seen å lot of glove paterns. But would you make å video on that topic? And the thumb, thumbhole and the fitting , are the area I'm most confused and no one I'v seen explain anything about the details. And if you would comment om cheap leather. I have hunted down and skinned å leather sofa and chair. Free, reuse etc. But what would you say about this kind of furniture leather reused in ex gloves, bags etc Sry if my Norwegian mind, helped by autocorrect have f... this up, more than what I have seen so fare.
Hi! do you sell the tools you make? if you do I'm interested in the Skiving Knife you made and the awl tool . let me know where can I buy them. Thank you.
Thank you for the great videos, I am just starting in leather work and find your videos so helpful. I made a knife sheath based on one of your videos and it came out very nice so I will be having a go at this wallet, I have some nice kangaroo leather in veg tan, do you think it will be good for this wallet design?
Thanks Terrick, I appreciate the reply, looking forward to making this wallet, just finishing a pouch type sheath for a small 4" slip joint, the wallet is my next project.
HAHA !! Taking a deep whiff of the item when complete. So rewarding. Great piece and video, as always. Do have a small question, does heat-able edge paint have to be heated to look good or was that dye ?
Thanks for your compliments. This was done using my burnishing method as on a previous video. This is stained with dye. When I do use edge paint I use "uniters" and heating it makes for a much smoother finish.
@@CHARTERMADE Thanks so much Terrick. I may try edge paint and heat with the side of a edge creaser I've heated with a torch. Really like that edger that takes of such a small sliver. You don't sell those do you ?
Loved this video and thanks for explaining the name. There is nothing better than a good woman; except top shelf leather and metal working skills and a good woman.
Wdym woman I guess you meant worksman
Hope to see you posting more!
"Stop looking back, you are not going that way" this quote resonates with me so much, Terrick! Thanks for that quote and the amazing video! : )
Jun, thanks my friend. Looking forward to catching up with you.

Hi , if you don't mind me asking ,where do you buy the packaging for your leather goods
Two things I love the most in the world:
1. Leather
2. A South African accent.

Trabalho com excelência, parabéns.
Your skill is inspiring. Where can I purchase the knife?
Thank you and they are available from Rocky mountain leather supply.
Why are you burning the edge of the leather around the 3:45 mark?
I really love your work... Its so clean. Just wanna ask if you sell also a custom wallet for sale?
2:22 Why do you cut leather with some angle?
Can you make leather notebook covers size A5 to be precise?
The music in the video is so calming , whats the name please ?
May i know why edge dyeing after Tokonole? I till now think dye won't penetrate into leather after Tokonole applying.

Yes I am, it will be our next video going up.
Awesome Terrick. What glue did you use and which tannery do you buy your leather from?
Hey Daniel, I used seragum and this is vegtan. I will soon be making a resources page of products I use.

Do you have an issue with using a sewing machine?
Not at all, sewing machines take skill to master like everything in this line of work.
@@CHARTERMADE I have leather machines and they brought me up to whole new level of leather work.....
Where do you get your brands from
I get them from a company in South Africa called Bros Engraving
