I believe the story but only partially. It sounds like Russel was being a dick with his drone. Other people complained about him spying on them. He spied on Gregory as well. He didn't deserve to die but they could have chosen another place to camp as well (why did they hide away in the bush?). Gregory seems like a bit of a hot head but it is uncertain Russel threatened to out Gregory hunting nearby. Either way the outcome of the trial was just and RIP to the secret lovers.

The story about going camping by himself sure sounds familiar...my father used it in the seventies. Claimed he was off bow hunting, and over the years, only ever claimed to have shot at a deer once, and said it got away from him, wounded. He was busted for cheating within a year or two of the story. He always kept bedding in the back of his pickup, which had a topper...not just when camping. It's kinda obvious why....and I bet it's a common story when cheating.
Tik tok sucks 😂 the content isnt long enough for anyone to make any kind of assessment of whats actually happening thus more mis information is gonna be wide spread, the live streamer scene is too austentatious man, one dude with 5 views has a worse attitude than a youtuber with 500k subs 😂😂😂
I actually feel bad for Russell‘s wife because she didn’t deserve that. Plus finding out that her husband was having an affair. I can’t imagine the heartbreak. These two were not a couple. They were two people that was sneaking around and having an affair simple as that. I don’t condone what they did. I also don’t condone murder.
It’s weird to me that he was found guilty of Carol’s murder but not Russell’s. I also can’t imagine, don’t want to imagine, what it was like for poor Robin- to find out about the affair in such a way only to then have to process and grieve both the loss of her husband and the marriage she thought she knew.
Yes same here to both. But apparently Greg first wife died suspiciously and a couple friends of theirs as well so Greg may be guilty of a lot more. But Robin and her family are the victims here.
The way he had destroyed the evidence and remains means it was impossible to confirm their manner of death, I think the split decision was the jury’s way of compromising in a case with very little evidence to contradict his story, even though they clearly didn’t believe it. It’s possible they found the idea plausible the men got into a physical altercation but couldn’t find the same to be true with Carol. Remember, there’s a burden of proof that needs to be met to justify a jury decision. This was a very difficult case for them. It does seem a bit strange but I think I see the logic.
Another case few years back happened in my town. We hardly get murders. Toyah was at the beach with her dog and she went missing. Her father found her body on the beach next day. Police have chased down a man that took off to India. We live in Cairns, Australia and it's still unsolved because the beaches are very long stretch hardly any cameras.
I live half an hour away from drouin! I remember when they went missing, it was all over the news but I never heard what had happened, shocked to hear they were murdered, thanks heaps mike ❤
Well Done to VicPol for cracking this case early and keeping things on the down low so that enough evidence could be collected to charge Lynn. I think he aimed and fired the gun at Clay because he was pissed off with Hill. There was no tussle and 'accident' as he says in the interview. He purposefully murdered them both.
About a year after my fiance was killed in a car accident, the guy she was cheating on me with came up and apologized, telling me how much she loved me. Obviously, right!
That keeps happening to me. Moved into a new apartment 6 months ago, and I've got 3 pictures of myself sleeping in my phone camera roll! (I live alone). It's a bit spooky.

I'm a Victorian and I don't believe his story for a second. The only part I think happened was they got into an argument but I think he murdered 2 people in cold blood. If this truly was self defense why not call the police or just leave their bodies at the campsite. And the cover up afterwards shows me he has no remorse
Oh my goodness!!! That film tripped out!!!! That makes me never ever want to go to the outback of Australia, especially since it was based on an actual event!!!
I remember learning about this case back when it was unsolved and the media was just focusing on that fact the husband was being unfaithful. I can't imagine how the kids & wife must have felt. I'm glad there was some CCTV camera's on certain roads. It seemed like they weren't going to solve this for awhile
As an Australian I didn't know I needed to hear an Irish(?) Person attempt to say G'day mate 😂 that mix of accents will live in my head rent free😂 Thanks for covering this story, there are certainly some odd things that have happened in the Aussie bush
24:40 "most annoying song" -- reminds me of the documentary "Touching the Void" where the song "Brown Girl in the Ring" makes the wounded protagonist pushing onwards. "I remember thinking 'Bloody hell, I'm going to die to Boney M.!"
I feel so horrible for that man's wife. You can live your years with someone, have children with them, and never know them. Such betrayal. And really, the affair was NOT a ''sweet story". I can't imagine the chaos of his family in the aftermath of this MESS he left them.
I love when stories end like this - where the public thinks the case either is going no where or that the cops aren't doing enough/are incompetent. And then BAM! "Suddenly" there's an arrest. When there are cases that are moving like molasses, and the lack of movement is getting frustrating, I remind myself that the public doesn't always know what's going on.
I woke up with your notification Mike and knew immediatly which story this would be. Im an Aussie and it was a head scratcher for awhile. Hats off to the police and anyone involved solving this one. 😢
I wanna know why he changed the colour of his ute from white to blue back in the 90's. Don't think we've heard the last of this bloke. What he done to his ex-wife was messed up, he's a phyco with a short fuse.
I'm not a gun aficionado, but that doesn't look like a type of weapon used for deer hunting. A tad overkill. Also, if the drone went too close to scare the deer away, Greg was much too close to the campsite and was completely careless about shooting.
I'm so glad you are given loads of evidence when you're on a jury, because hearing about Greg talking to himself, crying and seeming like he might commit suicide, I actually believed his story. Now it turns out he may have killed before. I'm a sucker!
Ooohhh a case from my homeland Straya! I have never heard this case as I live in the UK now. A 20 year affair, woah! Cheers for the content Mike, love ya!
Thank you for covering this case...definitely one that will go down in the history books!! I read somewhere that the reason why Robin was drilled by the media so much was because her daughters said they knew about the affair and that this trip wasn't the first they had gone on together!! The reason why he got off on Russell's death was because at the autopsy it couldn't be determined whether he had a heart attack before or after the knife went in!!! Now he is apparently trying to appeal his sentence and is still claiming he is innocent!!

Lord, I went on a vacation with and boyfriend of like 4 or 5 months, only went a few hours to the coast. His wife showed up. I got called a mistress and all kinds of crap, I was genuinely shocked. I felt like I was just drug through all of this. Never spoke to him again. But years later, I ended up accross the country, married with kids and happened to run into the wife again, we have been friends since. Haha

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… there is nothing about camping that appeals to me.
Me too! Too cold. Too hot. Too many bugs. Too Dirty.
Too much work involved, let alone inconveniences!
It's kinda playing homeless
To be fair, when you're getting your information about camping from true crime channels , it will tend to skew your view. Some people do manage to make it back alive.
This killer was an airplane pilot, the Long Beach serial killer was an architect. You never know what hides behind the facade of respectability and succes.
Are you talking about the Long Island Serial Killer?
>killer pilot
In Canada there was captain Russel
As a pilot myself, there is nothing about us as a group that would make us inherently respectable.
The moment you realize there's no correlation between wealth/education and a working moral compass, you'll know how dumb these sorts of observations are.

I might not have reported it either, especially if it was near a campfire as it is super easy for the wind to cause embers to travel.
This case drove us all nuts here in Vic. So glad it's been solved though I don't believe a word the crim uttered and the conviction is questionable. Thanks for highlighting this one. Tragic - not your coverage - the whole story.
Greetings from the US! I don't believe his story either. That drone ticked him off and he lost it.
@@MickLoud999I think he killed Russell first and shot Carol to cover everything up. Like they were probably fighting about the drone, tussled, Russell was stabbed. Carol witnessed & freaked out, and he had to do something about it.
@@elizabethgeorge168agreed. Maybe not dead on but I would assume it’s quite close to what actually happened out there.

Exactly. They weren't a couple. He had a loyal wife, waiting for him at home! He was living a lie! This must have hurt SO much for his poor wife.... I cannot imagine.

I think his wife had previously discovered the affair, years before and thought it was over.
She was naive or in denial to think it was over. The mistress and the husband were childhood sweethearts. He would go off on regular ‘solo’ camping trips. That in itself is sus. The wife is now free and can have the last laugh. She had known about the affair for decades

My dad came home from golfing all day with the top of his feet sunburnt. Stooopid.

Sneaking around for 20 years..that's a couple. But he should have divorced his wife.
It's literally what the notebook is about, and women love that movie. A woman cheating on her husband with her first love.
@@bend4236 lmfao that's a good point 😭 (I hate that movie for the record)

@@bend4236She was engaged, not married.
Imagine. Finding our your partner is dead and was cheating with another person. His mistress parents can have his funeral.
But I'm keeping the life insurance money.
Ikr? That was exactly my thought!
It's the lack of evidence.
Fokes still be cheating and homewrecking in their 70’s???????? GEESH! Poor Robyn having to find out about her husband’s affair that way.

Police have chased down a man that took off to India. We live in Cairns, Australia and it's still unsolved because the beaches are very long stretch hardly any cameras.
If I was camping and I thought a drone was filming me specifically, at all, I’d be freaked the F out. Not cool.
