      pretty much the only one you could say. Still looking for one which goes in depth about the conversion from a vintage trem to a floyd, but I guess its pretty much the same method, starting with the right measurements, post alignment and so on

    By far, NO VIDEO on the entire internet is so good and precise. My own templates need to be revised thanks for your incredible initiative. I've probably installed almost hundreds of Floyd Rose, on the old days "sans- internet". And that always was a nightmare. I had to figure it out by trial and error and, later, with some fellow luthiers (and lots of tests in plywood and later on my own guitars). Your system is precise and your explanations very thoughtful. I hope my customers understand now the cost of installing a Floyd, specially because the luthier can simply ruin the guitar. Wish I had seen this video 30 years ago. LOL. Keep up the excellent work. Cheers from Brazil, man.

    hi buddy i'm a beginner luthier from colombia and here its a little hard to find the tools for this type of jobs, i actually would like to see the router bit you use for the pick ups cavities, the one yous camera didn't record, jeje! i've build 4 guitars so far and for that part i've had to shape it with a chisel and sandpaper by hand, i've also considered to pay for a cnc cut but found that the designer charges a lot too for the vectors! so if i find that copying bit it would help a lot in my future builds! thanks a lot great job and videos

    • @UnquendorGuitars
      @UnquendorGuitars  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Mauricio,
      It sounds hard not to have easy acces to the tools you want to use.
      The bit I used, at the point my camera decided it had enough, to tighten up the corners of the pickup cavities is a regular 1/4" cutting bit with a 1/4" shaft and a cutting depth of 16mm. I used the shaft of the bit as a substitute for the bearing to glide along the template.
      I recently uploaded a new pickup routing tutorial in which this is shown.
      Good luck on your builds.

    Tou drill a hole thrue the body flush with the edge in the cavity for positioning the template.
    How many mm from that edge ( drilled hole to the upper edge of the spring cavity template. Hope you understand my q.
    One more q: are you marking the actual scale lengh 25” or do you compensate for intonation 25,5-0,5” = 25”

      Hi Eduardo,
      I'm not sure what depth you are referring to.
      I've used a Gotoh 1996T before, but if I recall it is not exactly the same as the Schaller bridges. And because every guitar is slightly different in string height and body thickness I recommend determining the required dimensions for each guitar separately.

      Sit the floyd rose flat on the guitar body put a straight edge from the nut to the bridge on the floyd measure the height from the 12th fret to the straiaght edge deduct your required string height what is left is the plunge depth of the router add a little more for your wang bar movement and this should be pretty near .
