While I appreciate Grant's humility, it makes me a bit sad that he doesn't see why he got the role. I think it was apparent from his first guest appearance in Arrow that he had a special, endearing quality to him. I hope in time when he looks back on it, he'll see what made so many people like him. I didn't watch the series all the way to the end, but from what I did watch of the first few seasons, Grant is cemented in my mind as the Barry Allen all others will have to live up to.
He was great. The writing and Show Running different story... 3 seasons of very similar stories ranging from good to decent. And then it just fell off. Creatively it became a one trick pony.
I feel like the show got worse and worse as it went on. Became really political and just trash by season 5 I couldn't take it seriously. With that being said, I think Grant was probably the best actor in the show by a longshot and in many cases was the only one providing great acting while the majority of the rest became incredibly cringy. I wish the writing wasn't so terrible, but in terms of acting I think he's the only one who was mostly consistently great
No matter how many other actors could have played The Flash excellently, Grant truly made me believe he is The Flash, and you can't ask for more than that!
I remember in the first season when the "energy vampire" guy stole but not stole Barry's powers and there is a moment where Barry tells Caitlyn how great it felt to be the Flash. It was great.
And if they would have just nipped it in the bud after the first or second accusation and recasted him immediately the reshoots wouldn't have taken that much time nor would it have cost that much due to Grant Gustin being way more affordable and they could have used the funds towards making it cleaner if they were just hire more TV stars and cut the budgets of these big-name actors movies would have more funding in multiple areas
I mean I guess but only because he is the only one they wrote for passed Crisis. So many storylines and character moments were taken from or under played by the show for the other characters that we missed a lot of what they could have been
@Braddley05 I'm good with Downey returning as Dr Doom. Although my choice was Cillian Murphy but I'm good with this one too. I do get everyones worries but I'm more of a wait n see for this one.
@@Braddley05 DC shows have a long history of using legacy actors in different roles, going back at least as far as Batman: The Animated Series, with live-action DC actors like Adam West and Mark Hamill coming in to voice different characters. Brandon Routh is another notable one, having played at least three DC characters I can think of in live-action and animation (Superman, Everywhere Man and The Atom). And I've lost count of how many DC characters Morena Baccarin and Alan Tudyk have played. Clancy Brown has played a few, as well. The list of actors with multiple DC roles in both live-action and animation goes on and on. So I don't see any reason why Grant Gustin shouldn't be considered for a villain role in the new DCU (or the BECS, or Constantine 2, or a standalone Elseworlds project). As long as it one that's within his range but not too similar to Barry Allen, I'm all for it.
Grant's acting was ALWAYS amazing on the show!!! Even do the scrypt became abit........ shit towards the end... He still put 100% in and stayed true to the character
Grant didnt fail the Flash show. The writers did. Iris worked best as a side character, where as Barry, Cisco and Snow worked great as a trio. Cisco bringing the comedy, Snow being the "straight" one of the comedy act that tries to ground the antics and Barry just grinning like a dork and enjoying his abilities. But they wrote in Iris as the main lead by season 3. And by Season 5 it became the Iris West show ft Barry Allen and guest star The Flash. And sometimes we had episodes where he wasnt even in it for more than a minute. (Nora rewinding time 52 times, Barry going to Lian Yu, whole episode about Allegra (the worst viewed episode of the show, Nora's origin story, the episode of Bart and Nora messing with time, the episode of Iris in labour with Barry missing) just to name a few off the bat. "yeah so?" Imagine if they did that on SuperGIRL. Entire episodes dedicated to SuperMAN. Or Jon Jones. Or Brainy. People would of flipped out "Im here for SuperGIRL, not SuperMAN. Why are we focusing on all these people instead of her!?"
I agree a 100% . It was great before they began focusing more on side characters rather than the lead. Iris annoyed the piss outter me so did cicile. The same happened with Arrow towards the end
Actually the final season of Supergirl did have quite a few episodes devoted to supporting characters, though in fairness Melissa Benoist being pregnant was a big reason for that.
Grant literally said in a 2024 panel that his favorite quote from the show is "We are the flash". So its likely that he doesn't agree with you at all. Its obvious he admires and respects his costar (Candice Patton), meanwhile fans like you keep trying to insinuate otherwise. Barry and Iris's relationship is a huge part of the show's cult following and is vital to the storyline, considering Barry fell apart in the future and stopped being the flash when Iris died. It wouldn't make sense to neglect that especially when family means everything to him.
You're absolutely right because iris is not supposed to be helping him stop criminals like she knows he's the flash but she doesn't go out and start helping him
Grant was the only thing that kept me going for 9 seasons, post season 4 it was a struggle, but seeing him just BE the Flash so (seemingly) effortlessly every week you could just feel the love and respect he showed the character, a quality you rarely see these days when it comes to comic book related media.
As someone who’s been experiencing feeling like a failure or not being enough, I heavily relate to Grant here. But Grant inspire me so much to the point that I feel like an impostor when I can’t be like Grant. Grant’s just amazing and sometimes it’s hard to be like him. But one day, I want to meet him. I’d like to tell him thank you for helping me grow. Thank you Grant, thank you so much.
Grant elevated the scripts with his performances, I just re-watched seasons 1-3 and he still blew me away. He's up there with Matt Smith as an actor who's so young but brought so much gravitas to the role in a Sci-Fi fantasy show. I wouldn't be a fan of the Flash if it wasn't for him.
This would explain why his character and personality start to shifting soon as season 5 end. From 6 to 9 of season. I could notice he’s more huffing and slugging around or look a bit of thoughtful in every scenes. but I’m taking hat off to Grant Gustin for able to move forward and made it to final season 9. No one in world can replace grant gustin as flash no matter if someone we recognized get better roles. Grant Gustin will always gonna be know as Barry Allen thru out all shows he been played in before.
Grant Gustin isn’t just a phenomenal actor, he’s actually a decent human being. Most people would kinda get a big head after being in showbiz for so long, but dude’s still pretty humble and he takes pride in his work. He remains the best Flash in my eyes. I think I speak for all fans when I say that I wish nothing but the best for him.
Grant did a phenomenal job as the Flash. From his first appearance on Arrow I was sold on him. I watched it from beginning to end, and I loved every bit of it. He's going to have a great rest of his career no matter what, but he will always have a place in my heart as the Flash. I also loved Katee on the show. I'm embarrassed to say I thought her British accent might be real until I found these podcast shows 😶🌫
Flash meeting supergirl was one of my favorite moments in the show, years later still makes me smile. They really did a great job casting those two shows
Grant, I think with you finding yourself in that role, was Barry finding himself in his world and as the flash, you did an amazing job, I stopped watching around season 6 and heard about the final season so I had to catch up to be able to watch the final season as it came out, I really enjoyed the moments throughout those 10 years. No need to feel like an imposter, you were, are, and always will be amazing! Much love from the 14 year old kid excited about the flash and arrowverse to now a 26 year old content with all you have done for The Flash. Keep Believing and Keep Creating.
So I really wasn't able to afford comics on a weekly basis before. But now that I can afford them, whenever the flash has dialogue, it's Grant's voice that speaks in my head. You did amazing my friend!
Grant Gustin’s awkward yet endearing energy is exactly the energy needed for flash. Barry Allen always being a character that is stressed because of his job and is always running around everywhere. But still takes the time to have compassion and care about important people and things. He gets us, he’s not bill gates. He is just like the flash. Played well and I will forever respect him. Even if my favorite seasons stop at 2 he was the bedt part of the show through and through.
His positivity as the Flash is what brought me back week after week. Hope James Gunn realizes there’s an experienced actor with a beloved fanbase who could play one of DC’s greatest heroes.
The fact that he did something that while created a lot of positive opportunities, was a very long and stressful run and he still gave his 100% and remained the shining beacon as the show dipped in the later seasons. That just goes to show the type of person he is. He does really care about the fans
I’ve always thought Grant did an amazing job as The Flash. His range, humor and expressiveness always landed. And when they brought in OG Flash John Wesley Shipp as multiple variants/characters I was stoked!! I watched him as a teenager in the 90’s. Grant’s The Flash was a great show with ups and downs, laughs and sadness, and a great supporting cast that made the show a lot of fun to watch. Thanks for your hard work and sticking in there, Grant!!
He was amazing on the show. Even in some of the story arcs I didn't like as much as some others, Grant Gustin as Barry Allen made every episode worth watching 100%.
Grant is literally the ONLY reason why i chose to stay and finish the series despite it falling off for me after season 4. Picking Ezra Miller for the movie was such a FUMBLE
No, what she's saying is, that as the lead, he's on set literally more than anyone else working on the show. 12 hours a day, 9 months a year, for 10 years. Every episode has a different director, every season some of the castnand crew will change. And yes, the supporting cast will be there. But he's in 75%-90% of the scenes on every single episode. So he's literally carrying the production of the show. If he doesn't show up for one of those days, the entire production falls apart for that episode.
i mean its good that he took it seriously because his performance as the flash......EVERYTIME was just incredible!! i'll always love him as the flash..
He always was much more of a Flash to me than movie guy. Hearing him having doubts about it is odd, since I always felt he would have done a much better job in the DCU. I do hope we get to see that some day. Before the entire Arrowverse went stereotypically CW, I really enjoyed it. Grant and Stephen were great!
Gawd, the moments when the two of them were on camera at the same time were magic. The times when they were in a bar together after saving the world... I cried in a happy way
I love Grant. He is one of the best Flashes in history, and blows Ezra out of the water too. Grant actually embodied the character. Ezra reduced Flash to a dufus only carried by CGI.
Thank you for your work Grant Gustin! Loved you in The Flash and Rescuing Ruby! Especially love your acting in the dinosaur episode with the Mom and also the silly moments in the last few seasons.
Even though the story lines for some of the seasons were pretty ass this man sold it the best he could so we can't fault him for that. If he got better source material then I don't think you want to get as much hate as you would be getting and some of the seasons but overall he did a fantastic job
SAME!!!!!! we never got to see him, as the flash, with a great script (other than s1, MAYBE s2) in a great movie! He would have been INCREDIBLE in a movie. I wish he would have just been the damn DCEU's flash for God 's sake
Some people just ARE the character and you literally can't get anyone else to play the role. Like Robert Downey Jr. IS Tony Stark. You can't replace Grant as Barry Allen. You just can't. And even if the plot is dumb or the writing bad, you still have this shining light of a actor in a role that feels like it was made for them.
I can tell he took it serious part of the reason he's my favorite flash actor the flash is an important character to a lot of people not to sound too nerdy but it's true
Tuned out around season 4 or 5 but Grant man you are The Flash⚡️i remember watching the cw teaser of the flash running past that cop speedometer 13 yr old me was so hyped at that time
I respect that he was ready to leave and he to mention he glad to be back as flash if needed. But overall I'd wish he stayed and the team flash. I would've liked to see season 8-15'ish.
I like grant gustin as the flash best live action casting fr I wish the writers had lat this man shine instead of prioritizing side characters and leaving the flash out of multiple entire episodes
Grant, my man, you gave a great performance as Barry Allen/The Flash. You had this quality when you started the show and carried it on throughout the series, of being a sort of All-American Boy. When you auditioned it probably paved much of the road to you getting the part. You weren't dark, like Batman/Bruce Wayne or confident/self assured like Superman/Clark Kent. You were a regular guy thrown into extraordinary circumstances. Your character and perhaps even you had to learn how to adapt and cope. Tho comics and super-heroes can be silly from time to time the earnestness and accessibility you brought to the role kind'a made you someone that all people, adults and comic book reading kids, could look up to. You made a cartoon become real. Never doubt your abilities as an actor. Some actors worry about being typecast but you will always be the Flash even if you move on to success in other roles. The fact that people will always remember you in the role and Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, Michael Keaton as Batman, William Katt as The Greatest American Hero, William Shatner as Capt. Kirk, Christopher Eccleston and David Tenant from Doctor WHO, Mark Hamil as Luke Skywalker and even Katee and Dirk Benedict as Starbuck show you all have great talent and can do anything in your careers.
*FWIW, I was impressed the first time I saw Barry Allen on arrow, and I was thrilled (ecstatic even!) When the flash came out. I always enjoyed your performance. The cast was all part of the recipe that made the magic.* *Just like Katee & the gang on bsg. I can't thank you enough, all y'all, for your hard work that brought pleasure and relief from the slings and arrows of slogging through The Daily Grind of life.* *I'm a medic and firefighter and disabled veteran; the wonderful worlds y'all created helped me cope when things were bad. I needed escapism and I needed Heroes and you and your co-workers make that possible.❤ I'm saying it badly, but I think somewhere in there is the point and y'all get it.*
I know I'm late to the party, but I started watching the flash recently(im on s3), i love that it has heart and kindness to it, besides the action. The casting is amazing he's perfect for the part. There's some comedy to the show for someone who understands science. But i can't deny it's super entertaining. It has some cgi scenes better than the movie flash i recommend a rewatch but no spoilers for me.
The Flash is my favorite character! Grant is what I think of when I think of Barry Allen! I love Grant, I became a huge fan of his. Found all his episodes of Glee. I went to see him in Water for Elephants. He is great in everything
That type of business, you should be more appreciative of getting a job something to last long to keep a steady paycheck then feel like I’m playing this character I just wanted to end now that he’s not the flash anymore was what have he done in that business? It’s up and down roller coaster you never know when you’re gonna get a job. I think people need to be more humble and appreciate what you do have at the time cause it could easily be gone instead of complaining about it. You’re not working at 9 to 5 and you getting paid real good money.
Grant is my GOAT. Yeah the show suffered from bad writing.. like really bad writing, in the later seasons But Grant is my definitive Flash. I hope he gets the chance to play him again some day. Maybe in a much better written story. He deserves to be DCEU's Flash!
Grant Gustin here was you got the role, you didn’t just act the part, you were the part!! And along with a thousand other reasons you were chosen!! Remember “you weren’t struck by it, it chose you”!
Its funny, I still remember in season 1 Grant telling me straight up once when I caught up to him at the airport, I asked him about not coming over to meet fans at set (it had been several sets in a row where he just avoided fans), that he said "sometimes if I am in a mood, I can be a dick". For 9 seasons of the show here, I felt he had a good rapport with the public for about 7.5 of those 9 seasons.....the rest of the time, that dickishness could come to the surface. But I always respected the fact that he was honest about it, and always made up for it later on.....like that first time I talked to him about it, the very next set he was at, he came over about half a dozen times that night to see if everyone watching had had a chance for an autograph or a photo with.
I'm just trying to figure out why on Earth they would choose Ezra Miller to play the Flash in the movie when you've got Grant the GOAT Gustin right there 😤
People might have mixed opinions about the quality of the show, but most can agree he was the absolute perfect casting and one (if not the) best flash casting ever. Hope he can look back and see that.
what do these actors do after their shows finish? i mean as a stable income source, not some random podcasts or minor roles in other films that only occur once in a while
See this is why I will follow that man to the ends of the earth and claim he is the Flash. He may not be blonde or some peoples initial first choice but he took on the role and put his 100 percent into it. That line he said about just because it’s silly doesn’t mean he shouldn’t take it seriously is why he was the one always acting like the rent was due. And I will always respect him for that
Can't imagine how far we would have gone if Grant hadn't taken the show seriously... So many emotional scenes would NOT have worked if he had phoned it in
They both seem like very nice people very normal people and maybe that’s why they’re likable because they don’t have more money than us, but they’re not all that different from us.
While I appreciate Grant's humility, it makes me a bit sad that he doesn't see why he got the role. GRANT YOU'RE THE GOAT
i mean its good that he took it seriously because his performance as the flash......EVERYTIME was just incredible!! i'll always love him as the flash..
I cried in a happy way
Grant Gustin should've been Mr. Fantastic
Thank you for your hard work flash it was definitely something that was appreciated
I love Grant. He is one of the best Flashes in history, and blows Ezra out of the water too. Grant actually embodied the character. Ezra reduced Flash to a dufus only carried by CGI.
Took me a bit to figure out who Katee played. Amunet!🎉
OMG, THAT’S WHY SHE LOOKED FAMILIAR!
Why do I hate this show but still love Grant as the flash
SAME!!!!!! we never got to see him, as the flash, with a great script (other than s1, MAYBE s2) in a great movie!
I grew up watching the flash love his portrayal of the character, ❤⚡️
Grant’s incredible performance was the only constant in a very rocky show
I can tell he took it serious part of the reason he's my favorite flash actor the flash is an important character to a lot of people not to sound too nerdy but it's true
its just so sad , cause were enjoying the show , but all of these personal issues he dealt with. Emotional wellness is so important .
Grant will always be my Flash hope he’s able to be in a film.
That's the truth!!!! He was great!!! The show was very good!! I'm sad that it's over!!
My issues with the writing at times aside; from the very beginning, I have viewed Grant as THE best live action performance of the flash.
*FWIW, I was impressed the first time I saw Barry Allen on arrow, and I was thrilled (ecstatic even!) When the flash came out. I always enjoyed your performance. The cast was all part of the recipe that made the magic.*
*Just like Katee & the gang on bsg. I can't thank you enough, all y'all, for your hard work that brought pleasure and relief from the slings and arrows of slogging through The Daily Grind of life.*
*I'm a medic and firefighter and disabled veteran; the wonderful
worlds y'all created helped me cope when things were bad. I needed escapism and I needed Heroes and you and your co-workers make that possible.❤
I'm saying it badly, but I think somewhere in there is the point and y'all get it.*
hes my flash
I know I'm late to the party, but I started watching the flash recently(im on s3), i love that it has heart and kindness to it, besides the action.
The casting is amazing he's perfect for the part.
There's some comedy to the show for someone who understands science. But i can't deny it's super entertaining.
It has some cgi scenes better than the movie flash i recommend a rewatch but no spoilers for me.
it’s gonna get really bad. I tapped out at S6 when i actually fell asleep watching and i can push myself thru some sleepers let me tell you
The Flash is my favorite character!
Yeah the show suffered from bad writing.. like really bad writing, in the later seasons
But Grant is my definitive Flash. I hope he gets the chance to play him again some day. Maybe in a much better written story. He deserves to be DCEU's Flash!
I dont think I will ever see anyone play the role better than him. They should have had him in the movies.
Grant will always be the best flash in my opinion.
Grant Gustin here was you got the role, you didn’t just act the part, you were the part!! And along with a thousand other reasons you were chosen!! Remember “you weren’t struck by it, it chose you”!
Grant made the flash my favorite show!! He is the best flash period!
Grant did an excellent job as the Flash
Grant is the one and only person who nailed as the flash it would be a dream to see him as flash in new upcoming projects ❤❤😊😊😢
Had to re read that thumbnail for a sec
Honestly he should have hung it up after 3 seasons then we would all be talking about how great the show was and not how bad it got.
I'm just trying to figure out why on Earth they would choose Ezra Miller to play the Flash in the movie when you've got Grant the GOAT Gustin right there 😤
Dude was the best thing next to Cavanagh
People might have mixed opinions about the quality of the show, but most can agree he was the absolute perfect casting and one (if not the) best flash casting ever. Hope he can look back and see that.
If you got impostor syndrome after acting as THE GOOD main character, it means that you're the humblest guy ever
Bros acting is next level
what do these actors do after their shows finish? i mean as a stable income source, not some random podcasts or minor roles in other films that only occur once in a while
Thank you for taking it seriously tho!
He’s always the real flash imo
See this is why I will follow that man to the ends of the earth and claim he is the Flash. He may not be blonde or some peoples initial first choice but he took on the role and put his 100 percent into it. That line he said about just because it’s silly doesn’t mean he shouldn’t take it seriously is why he was the one always acting like the rent was due. And I will always respect him for that
Best Flash hands down!!
Grant is honestly the best Flash everrrrr 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He did a damn good job.
Can't imagine how far we would have gone if Grant hadn't taken the show seriously... So many emotional scenes would NOT have worked if he had phoned it in
What an Actor ❤️
They both seem like very nice people very normal people and maybe that’s why they’re likable because they don’t have more money than us, but they’re not all that different from us.
Imagine being the best flash, making millions, having all this fame and still feeling this way.
grant is who i think of when i think barry allen, if i read a comic with barry, i read it in his voice, he IS barry allen
He IS the Flash
Get Grant a chiropractor for how much he carried the show on his back for so long
Humans, Grant, not just actors
its sad to see the show go down in quality over time
I was ready for flash to be done at season 4 tbh
It's the comeback of the tv show actors to MAKE BETTER CONTENT FOR THE FRANCHISES THEY'RE IN OR WERE IN!
Grant = 🐐
He’d be the perfect Peter Parker in another world
He made the show for me
grant seems like a nice guy
That Lightening Bolt chose you
Had no idea he was this zesty irl 😂
You’re just throwing around the word zesty wtf
Best Flash
More of this Flash
I want to tell him that he is like Hugh jackman to us
