You never really see anyone big fangirling over something or someone else they had absolutely no part in, do you? That childlike glee is kind of wholesome, and yet at the same time so existential realising what *you've* been doing for so many others over the years - almost a bring you to your knees in humble tears kind of a thing
Mumbo saying he remembered watching this world being built from his phone in bed Is such a call out because we all know at least 50% of us are watching this from our phone in bed 💀
Joe's consistency is just part of the JoeHills Difference™ I started watching Hermitcraft because I was watching your survival series after finding you from your redstone tutorials, and you joined the server soon after I found you. Xisuma was one of the first hermits I started watching from you, and as such, I've only really watched Xisuma's season 1 videos -- so this was a very fun video. A real mixture of familiarity and discovery. Looking back, I have to say Biffa's Bowl feels like it was somewhat prototypical of what would very gradually become today's megabases. Obviously it's not remotely close to the scale of modern bases, but he went for what was a fairly ambitious scale at the time. And while he wouldn't have been the only one doing it, it's just such an iconic design, even now.
this showed me that it truly isn’t about how many new blocks, mobs, or gimmicks added into the game that makes it fun, but simply friendship and creativity that truly makes minecraft what it is today. even back then, with how limited everything was, they were still living their best lives, and now, with all the new blocks, it sometimes feels like some youtubers forget that we just want to watch them have fun. not pleasing the viewers, doing things that they think will make the algorithm happy, nor treating it as a job, but simply enjoyment of the creators brings a smile to all of our faces. tl;dr people these days forget to just have fun. it isn’t the creative new ideas people look for on youtube, but just a couple guys hanging out and having fun.
As someone who started watching much later in Season 6, I love when Hermits show off old worlds. I also think it's cool when people who weren't actually playing do it, because the Hermits themselves are often too busy to watch everyone else's videos so you get a unique perspective from someone who watched them all.
Hermitcraft is not just a minecraft server. It is the epitome of friendship and joy. Such a positive thing to be a part of. It has saved people by spreading love and joy and fun around the world. ... thanks, hermits.
So much nostalgia in this video. I remember watching Keralis, Xisuma and Minecrafted during this season. It was a blast and I was so impressed and inspired by Keralis' builds especially.
I know the feeling of watching or seeing something you were always surrounded by but have not touched in ages. So glad you got to do this, it was great to watch.
This is pretty much just 15 minutes of mumbo fangirling about his fellow hermits and its awesome. Mumbo is the number one hype man for all his friends. Get you a friend like mumbo.
My friends and I went around the season 8 hermitcraft world recently and we’re very excited to do the same with season 9, so yes, we do that too and we love it :D
Mumbo can we get one of these videos for all the seasons you were in?? I started watching around season 6 and I’d love to hear your commentary about all the other seasons (and also it would be so nostalgic to see the seasons I do remember)
I always love the hermitcraft episodes where we get to see the thought process in building and redstone like you describe in the Xisuma huts. There's something about seeing the full start to finish that always inspires me to build something myself. I understand that the scale of things in the newest seasons make that challenging, and the mega structures getting constructed are inspiring in their own regard. But I do think there's a small emotional piece that's lost in just watching a time lapse of something designed offline.
This time on Hermitcraft Geographic, we encounter a wild Mumbo Jumbo familiarising himself with his surroundings. He seems to feel a sense of nostalgia with this return.
I can’t believe how long I’ve been watching you. I first watched the end of season 4 and then watched season 5 fully and I decided to go look at when those were made and it’s been 6-7 years since then. I’m glad you are still making content
9:47 I took inspiration from this build in one of my xbox 360 worlds. At the time there was no jungle biome on Xbox 360 edition, so I had to make my own jungle by layering trees on top of each other.
This video is so amazing! It's so cool to see how you started as a fan of Hermitcraft!! World downloads are always so nostalgic, and it must be even more so with a break of ten years between watching and visiting!! There's only one or two season 1 videos I've watched, but I often find other peoples' nostalgia contagious, this video made me so emotional and I love it!!!
Generik's challenging base could be replicated by finding a very long cave complex, building your base at the tail end of it, and creating traps along the way to the entrance. it could be a really neat project when you think about it
I remember watching you around 2016 when I first saw you on Twitch. I love to see how much you, your channel and hermitcraft has grown over those past few years. I don't know what Hermitcraft would've been without you.
Such a great video, i dont religiously watch hermitcraft, but it is really cool to know that you wanted to be on it even at the beginning. I love that the servers are saved so that you had this little time capsule to visit.
I think you should visit it again with Xisuma. I do agree there's quite a number of things that holds up well compared to todays standards. And yes, that is how it feels like when we visit the world. I started to really watch Hermitcraft at S7 and when I visited the world when the download was finally available it was... so much of like trying to figure out what was where, being surprised by the actual scale or locations for things etc... and it was all so cool and amazing.
I spent a little bit of time in the S7 download, and was shocked how easily i got lost in Etho's Monstrosity. From afar it looks like a small base, and in his videos it doesn't seem that complicated. (And i have a good sense of direction) But being there "in person" is a completely different experience, you can litterally get lost in builds you thought you were familiar with.
I can also feel the incredible nostalgia those old-style buildings bring with them. I am currently watching the older Hermitcraft series starting at S2 from time to time ... and it is so unfathomably fascinating how this whole fellowship of the hermits developed since the very first episode. Not just regarding the never ending creativity of the hermits, but also regarding their humor, their passion and the whole surrounding community. All of it just puts a constant smile on my face, whenever I watch anything Hermitcraft related as it somewhat reminds me of all the little steps that I undertook or undertake in my creative endeavors that I do in my spare time and that lead to a lot of great memories. I wish you all the best in all upcoming adventures out there! For the connect-4-game: I hope you do not have to scratch your head too much, because the first thing that came to my mind was... how would you split up the colours afterwards when resetting the whole thing? Looking forward to a solution ;-)
Okay this is gonna be a slightly weird comment coming from a (pretty much) given up creator. This kind of video, and I don’t know why, makes me want to make servers with my friends and post them as series. Even if they’re unseen, I want to be able to look through our old worlds like this and possibly even have others watch our silly world be made. Idk we could never be hermitcraft but it’s some kind of inspiring to see that someone could be touched so much, especially as he became a great creator himself.
mmh, especially if one of you pass away, the rest of you can get something that you all were part of that you can remind yourself years later. and then cry if you spot a place where one of you was last time they were alive and either said in chat or spoke in discord: ill head to sleep now, see you tomorrow.
It was such a delight seeing all those familiar spots again, and thanks especially for all the kind words!

The more things change, the more they stay the same: Joe being Joe, Keralis being an insanely good builder, and Mumbo being a giant nerd
as someone who religiously watched generikb, bdubs, keralis, biffa, and xisuma during this time, this hit very hard seeing everything again. really cool and i miss generikb’s vanilla mc content. always had such a unique and cool way of building by integrating redstone seamlessly
It's really weird remembering that Mumbo joined Hermitcraft so many seasons before Grian, they're practically inseparable now.
You never really see anyone big fangirling over something or someone else they had absolutely no part in, do you? That childlike glee is kind of wholesome, and yet at the same time so existential realising what *you've* been doing for so many others over the years - almost a bring you to your knees in humble tears kind of a thing
S1 felt so magical to me as a kid... this was awesome to see through Mumbo's perspective.
Mumbo saying "its hermicraft time" is so majestic my wife came back with the kids, cheers

I love how so many of the builds had vines and leaves, which now kinda makes all the builds look overgrown, like a lost city
Its funny to see that Joe still uses that build for his stream thumbnails literally every single day
how did i never notice that...
Wait, THAT'S what that build is?!
Now I am picturing how stunning a remake of the hermit hurting hurdles one would be redone in a lush cave in the most recent version.
This is indeed how we feel when exploring the previous seasons
Mumbo saying he remembered watching this world being built from his phone in bed Is such a call out because we all know at least 50% of us are watching this from our phone in bed 💀
currently in that exact position 😭
The funny thing is, UA-cam has been recommending me Mumbo's first three Hermitcraft episodes ever back in S2 recently

Can't wait for the Redstone rabbit hole that modernizing Connect 4 will take you down.
Joe's consistency is just part of the JoeHills Difference™
I started watching Hermitcraft because I was watching your survival series after finding you from your redstone tutorials, and you joined the server soon after I found you.
MUMBO being MUMBO being US….this video sped by but it was wonderful!!
This helped with my anxiety today. THANK YOU MUMBO
Monkeyfarm was an OG. I miss his LP's.
He was dorky, funny, awkward, and got me into Redstone
Same! He’s the whole reason I started watching Mumbo all those years ago!
this showed me that it truly isn’t about how many new blocks, mobs, or gimmicks added into the game that makes it fun, but simply friendship and creativity that truly makes minecraft what it is today. even back then, with how limited everything was, they were still living their best lives, and now, with all the new blocks, it sometimes feels like some youtubers forget that we just want to watch them have fun. not pleasing the viewers, doing things that they think will make the algorithm happy, nor treating it as a job, but simply enjoyment of the creators brings a smile to all of our faces.
tl;dr people these days forget to just have fun. it isn’t the creative new ideas people look for on youtube, but just a couple guys hanging out and having fun.
10:59 That’s exactly how I feel about Season 6. It means so much to me.
I feel the same about S7!!
Impossible. There is no hermitcraft without at least one mustache present in the server.
Mumbo you DID promised grain to build a vault he can brake into, you've used the "breaking into another hermits base card"
You are the only person with the power to turn a boring and depressing tuesday into a magical one for millions of people
Thank you ❤
Mumbo that was a blast from the past thank you😢
Such a throwback! Its amazing to see how the size of hermit's bases has literally exploded and taking over HUGE areas now.
we need a “i remember!” count for this video
12:00 Joe still uses that for his stream thumbnails on youtube
Loved the tour!
Listening to your excitement, particularly when you squeak "I remember this!!" made me smile wide 😁
I know the feeling of watching or seeing something you were always surrounded by but have not touched in ages. So glad you got to do this, it was great to watch.
Keralis' base on this season was my favourite minecraft build for a long time. I was so impressed back then.
Even tho I joined hermitcraft in the later series, it’s so cool to see him excited and fanning over memories. Welcome to being a viewer, Mumbo ^^
I've noticed the bases are definitely getting more polished as time goes on
And bigger
I liked the part where he said "Its Hermit craft time" And then hermit crafted everywhere
Gosh what a blast from the past. I still remember watching Mumbo’s first ever hermitcraft episode all those years ago! How time flies!
9:56 WOW, in my opinion, this part of the base still holds up until today !! with a little bit extra plants here and there it is beautiful
Mumbo can we get one of these videos for all the seasons you were in?? I started watching around season 6 and I’d love to hear your commentary about all the other seasons (and also it would be so nostalgic to see the seasons I do remember)
Never thought that we would see mumbo fangirl so much over something
Hearing all those old hermits names really was a blast of nostalgia
If i had to describe what quality Mumbo has that makes him special in HermitCraft, it would be "Adorable Nerdiness"
Joehills is Joehills, regardless of when or where he is
I always love the hermitcraft episodes where we get to see the thought process in building and redstone like you describe in the Xisuma huts.
It's honestly pretty incredible how much the hermits were able to accomplish 11 years ago
this is just a solid handful of minutes of mumbo fanboying over xisumas builds icl
its so cool to see how everyone has improved from back then
Mumbo being a huge fan of hermitcraft and then actually getting to join is so wholesome
I'm such a recent Hermitcraft fan that this is WILD to see. It's cool to see where everyone started!

I took inspiration from this build in one of my xbox 360 worlds. At the time there was no jungle biome on Xbox 360 edition, so I had to make my own jungle by layering trees on top of each other.
Hard to believe that Hypno's base was built over a decade ago, it looks about 5 years ahead of its time.
Hearing all these names that I've never heard in the server really goes to show the length of hermitcraft
Generik's challenging base could be replicated by finding a very long cave complex, building your base at the tail end of it, and creating traps along the way to the entrance.
it could be a really neat project when you think about it
9:28 Great stuff Mumbo! Stay at it and remember to put that effort in! 🔥👍Peace Love and Plants!!!
I remember watching you around 2016 when I first saw you on Twitch. I love to see how much you, your channel and hermitcraft has grown over those past few years. I don't know what Hermitcraft would've been without you.
Hermit craft really has changed alot over the years
Such a great video, i dont religiously watch hermitcraft, but it is really cool to know that you wanted to be on it even at the beginning.
(And i have a good sense of direction)
But being there "in person" is a completely different experience, you can litterally get lost in builds you thought you were familiar with.
My day is so much better when I watch Mumbo!
I've been waiting for your new video. Finally 🎉

There is a certain charm to old Minecraft Builds.
Even if you faintly remember them, it still knocks the air out of your lungs with nostalgia.
