Kjarrigan1 I don’t think that’s true, sprinting doesn’t feel out of place for me, I can’t really explain it but it doesn’t feel like it hurts the games as long as they design around that.
Halo 2 had sprinting. Bungie cut it during development, but with modding, you can reactivate it. There's an Easter egg when you sprint with dual SMGs too.

The campaign was pretty decent, but the multiplayer was pretty trash. And from my understanding the exact opposite is true for Halo 5.

Their buildings and structures had purpose yet here 343's made the forerunner's structures these big fucking floating space dildos with all these bits floating aside them. What the fucks the point of them except being an eyesore? Bungie's Forerunners had their buildings to seem futuristic yet somewhat human or well... forerunner.

Halo 4 got mixed reactions from folks who finished Bungie's series with Halo: Reach. But it always held a special place in the Halo pantheon for me because of the new ground it covered. It's good to see someone else appreciates it for the same reason.
I think it was timing. Had 343i waited another year or 2 to release it and let Halo Reach settle. Might have not received such mix reviews. That's my 2 cents on it.

Richard Daw omg me too I got into Halo at the last second before I'd probably never get to play it because I was born in 2001 and luckily my dad let me play Halo Ce on the of Xbox and ever since I've been hooked. I can't express how special of a place that I hold Halo 4 in my heart and it's great to see someone else as well who loves this game too

The TyRant even just a year would have been fine, 343 had trouble actually finalizing the game and developing the actual sandbox so waiting until XBone would have been a godsend for halo 4

When halo 4 came out I didn’t really like the story but now that halo 5 is out and I replayed 4 I actually really like what they did with the story. Of course it ain’t no halo 3 or 2
I liked where they started going with Halo 4 storywise but I just couldn't like Halo 5's story
Yah Halo 4 sucked but then I played Halo 5 and I was like what the hell is this shit, ended up growing more appreciation for getting to play as the master chief the whole game.

The biggest problem with the Halo 4 story is a lot of deep lore shit happened that they never really explained in the game.
Like the UNSC command structure, where this new spartan program came from, why are the elites assholes now. Spartan ops stuff only added to the confusion. Not mentioning the minor, weird ass narrative choices, like how the captain of the UNSC infinity sends the fucking MASTER CHIEF away, and they follow up with this weird ass Locke vs Chief dynamic in Halo 5 that just isn’t appealing to even think about.
As a true gamer halo 4’s campaign actually had me immersed fully I didn’t care about what was hidden or exploring the story was so much interesting and filling that I wanted it to continue the same way but halo 5 sigh halo 5 halo 5.... oh how disappointing you are

Joanete Tragano halo 5 was my first halo (besides halo wars 1) and I though the story was shit compared to others. I like the gameplay equally to old and I want old because more people will come back to halo

I really like Halo 4. Halo 5 has great gameplay but its writing just felt soulless and phoned in as if story and gameplay heavily practiced social distancing before it was popular.
I'm pretty sure I remember reading something about how Halo 5 underwent the same development hell that Destiny did causing at least 5 years worth of work being lost and then having to try and put it back together in time for launch.
It’s a cycle. People hated Halo: Reach and now they love it all of the sudden. Honestly halo 4 are like opposite game’s.

Honestly it wasn't quite as good as the others but i don't think it was bad. Except the multiplayer. That was kind of an unbalanced mess. The campaign was good though. And it was a good start that could have led to something good. I certainly don't think halo 4 is bad. But Halo 5 definitely is and that's really sad. But it looks so far like they have learned their lessons for Infinite so i hope that goes better.

@Chip_Kipperly I mean don't get me wrong, as someone who started out with Combat Evolved, Halo 4 was definitely disappointing originally. But after my initial expectations had been wrecked, I made some good memories with friends and took it for what it was, and I can really look back at Halo 4 quite fondly. I really wish I could say the same about Halo 5's story though. Regardless, it just gets me really excited to just see some positivity towards the 343 era games

Wondering why you're still fighting the Covenant. When the Arbiter returned to base and made his report, the Covenant split into two groups and now fighting each other.
The first group are those who still follow the Prophet's beliefs (even though they're all dead) and will still be your enemies no matter what. The second group are those who follow the Arbiter and rebel against the Covenant ( you don't meet them until Halo 5 and are your allies in the war).
Too bad the games neglected to tell us this until that had to give huge exposition dumps in Halo 5
They don't still follow the Prophet's beliefs and they aren't all dead, but they still see the Forerunners as Gods.
Also, it's not far fetched to assume that not every Elite would instantly stop believing in the Forerunners' divinity and would try to find answers in their faith (like in Christianism when the Pope was contested or new interpretations of the Bible's texts were formulated). And like Truth says in Halo 3, "Your people never believed... in the promise of the Sacred Rings." The Elites still look pretty religious though, don't they?

When you get done with the campaign, you need to play the Spartan Ops. It is an extension of the story and you will need the context for Halo 5. Love your videos!
He can just watch the cutscenes. Weirdly, playing spartan ops doesn’t actually show the relavent cutscene before each mission. You have to manually watch them. What is even the point then!?

tiddy fuk tha police it works as a “firefight” like mission. Say you are board and want to shoot some aliens, but don’t want to start a story campaign, you can pick from one of the 40 or so missions and jump right in. It’s something you can pickup and do casually for a while...like opening up solitaire and playing a game to pass time.
Also this is a different splinter faction btw that still has old covenant beliefs. They are known as the Storm covenant

No this is the covenant. I think they are sometimes referred to as Mdama's covenant, but i cant remember when they were called storm covenant

Cortana: "The good news is these Covenant aren't outfitted like standard military. It's possible we just came across a rogue salvage ship.... Or we might have stumbled into an entire Covenant fleet".

Cortana: "That's one possibility".

The beginning of Halo 4 is great and the story is really interesting all the way through. Its just the further in you get the more of a tedious slog the gameplay becomes. The promethians as enemies are less fun to fight than other halo enemies. At least that's how I felt when playing through it.
I somewhat hope he plays Spartan Ops as it would help get a different perspective on Requiem.

I've played Halo far longer than I've played Call of Duty. The only new additions to Halo (as far as movement goes) that I don't like are ground pounding and charging.
I'm not looking to argue, but when I played through halo 4 I almost never used sprint and didnt really feel the need to use it. I think the game would have been fine without it

Damn where were these positive reviews and love for the game when it came out! ...when we actually needed it. I wished they would have kept going with the story from 4 instead of all of the fans bashing Halo 4 and 343i for all of their hard work. Halo 4 is one of the best halos out there. It's sad what they did with 5 and I don't blame 343i I blame the players who showed no love for Halo 4. Halo 5 was a bad game in general and certainly the worst Halo game. I cannot wait for infinite as Halo certainly needs a win and a revival. Fingers crossed for 343i you deserve a big win!
Nah man the only thing ass about Halo 5 was the story.
The gameplay is so smooth and crisp, and the entire weapon sandbox is the most balanced its ever been. Forge was the best its ever been, Armour variety was great (some of them were ass but outside of the designs they expanded the lore a lot) Yes the REQ microtransactions were bad but they only affected Warzone which was an amazing welcome addition.

There were a few good ones there, but even then the armors in general looked like cheap plastic, certainly not a power armor. And no the REQ Microtransactions were bad and infected the entire game, as you could only get any kind of cuztomisation from them, of course along with the Pay-2-Win mode Warzone. And yeah yeah i know fanboys like to screech "iT's JuSt CoSmEtIc" but no, i'm sorry, cosmetics matter. They absolutely do. They always did. That's why they started charging for them to begin with. Because they DO matter. And cheap money grubbers like lootboxes simply have no place in a full price Triple-A game.
But yeah, the campaign in Halo 5 was just all around trash. Gameplay was mostly alright. It was 100% Call of Duty and had barely any Halo left, but it was still fun to play.

Halo 4 has one of the best Halo campaigns, there’s no ridiculous amount of backtracking or recycling of levels like in the original trilogy and it doubles down on what made the Halo CE campaign special, Chief and Cortana in a strange land.
I like Halo 4, it gets waaayyyy more hate than it truly deserves. My only real problems with it were the sound design (not soundtrack), and new Forerunner art. Some complain about the levels being linear but you don't notice that much imo. But the hate this game got on release was unreal.
The sound design does sound a bit weird... Like Dee says, it's crisp, much more than it is soothing. Approximately everything else about the campaign except the sound design and level linearility, I love.
@@spiguy my problem with it is the new Covenant sounds. Elites sound more like brutes (and look way too stocky) and the grunts cute chatter is gone and replaced with weird ass chirping. And on some levels like "Forerunner" its too sci to beep boop for me than Halo's usual orchestral music

The difference Dee Bee Geek, you invest in the whole lore, some people didn't and also the chance was something they didn't like. I for one loved this one and also Halo 5 and I played every one of them.
You get what is going on because you watched those videos about the Fore-runner.
The issue with the story in Halo 4 was that it required you to have read some of the books to understand what was going on. Also the art doesn't feel halo, halo wars 2 fixed it though

Dee, the reason why the Halo community isn't so fond of Halo 4 is because for a lot of fans the change was too much too suddenly, from aesthetics (I mean the whole class of ship for the Forward Unto Dawn isn't even the same class from Halo 3 at all, it was weird.) to story telling, it was all jarring at the time. You can learn more from TheActMan's review on it after you finish the game. And for the designs overall HiddenExperia and LateNightGaming will give you a greater sense as to why the community isn't fond of the design changes and the fixes they propose (Some may hold some spoilers for Halo 5 so watch out.). For me it was the case but I bared with it and I did enjoyed it personally.
Though I think it could've been portrayed better by easing the player into it first. Taking an example from another youtuber (Forgot who proposed it), it should start out with the Bungie era forunner design to give it a sense of antiquity, but the further down you go into the planet, the more it slowly transitions into the 343 era style to show that there's more going on under the surface and combined with the music it will defiantly give a greater sense of foreboding for what is to come. This will ease fans in and establish the new style far more naturally.
Overall too much was changed too fast and so the Halo community didn't respond well and I completely understand, I do prefer a lot of aspects from the original art style as well.
I'm glad you're having fun with the game though, and that's all I care out of you.
Then there's Halo 5, weeeeeeell, let's just say the story needs A LOT of fixing to even be comprehensible and good, even I agree to this.
If you watched Late Night Gaming’s recent video, the forerunner fasciitis in Halo 4 were very much line those of Halo 3. It’s that Halo 4’s new lighting system ended up making the forerunner architecture appear more complex than they actually were thanks to the more intense shadows and bloom effects. If you take away the lighting and look at the forerunner interiors models & their texture, they are very much still mysterious and ancient looking in Halo 4.
It was Halo 5 that really overdid the floaty bits and shiny surfaces. (P.S. Halo 4 forerunner wasn’t shiny like Halo 5’s. The lightung made it look shiny.

TrueMohax again, referring back to my previous comment, a large portion of Halo 4’s forerunner structures are very close to Halo 3’s (yes there are mix of some shiney areas). But the reason Halo 4 forerunner stuff looks sparkly has more to do with the lighting system the fame used. You’ll notice everything in Halo 4 has a “shine” and a glow to it. Since a lot of forrunner architecture incorporates metal, the shine and glow effects are multiplied

Most underrated Halo game. The direction 343 took with 4 was killed by toxic fanboys, and the hard left they made after this game nearly killed Halo. 5 was garbage, and that saddens me. The multiplayer wasn’t bad with 5 though, but wasn’t Halo’ish to me at all. 4’s. Multiplayer after a few updates was the smoothest to date. Some of the best maps in the series.

There are a few things 343 did do right in halo 4. Loved the SAW, loved the Rail Gun, Warthog was great, nice views, the tall forerunner monoliths are always impressive and the skull like marine uniforms were a decent mixup.

I really respect how you've gone through this games, have arrived at Halo 4 and can appreciate it's differences. I think the music, art style and narrative, whilst being very different, is beautiful - not to mention Cortana booty. Best thing I can advise, enjoy what you want about this games and don't worry about expectations for the games that the community have given you.

Halo 4 was great. With cool, maybe questionable visuals ( i personally don't like bulky Elites), great gameplay, cool soundtrack and epic plot with maybe questionable but great dramatic ending. But it had one big problem. It's problem is Halo 5. How Halo 5 continued plot of Halo 4 was absolutely terrible. That is why these new games are mostly hated by fans. But in my opinion Halo 4 was realy good and promising.

I believe, when most people say Halo 4 was bad, even though the Campaign does have some issues, I feel most hate is pushed at the multiplayer. I enjoyed the story and thought it was a good start to this new era...Then Halo 5 happened and it was a one 180. Most liking the Multiplayer, while still having issues and the Campaign having a lot of flaws in the story due to it feeling rushed with some questionable choices. Good thing Halo Wars 2 and Infinite is trying to help fix these issues with the current Halo Events in the plot.
A lot of people hated this game when it came out bc of how different it was. Me personally the multiplayer was the only place it lacked true halo feeling. But this story/campaign was by far imo
The overall art design felt less inspired by that 90s retro future everything looked more generic in a way less inspired. Lore wise aswell this wasn’t just a redesign because we jumped ahead a number of years but the opening cutscene was clearly felt in the past showing Spartans in the new design armour aswell as Marines in theirs.

One thing that you have to know about the Covenant in this game is that they are a splinter group that made of members of the Covenant who still have a grudge against humanity. And while there are elites in the Remnant, most of the elites are still allied with humanity and are loyal to the Arbiter
It always brings me such joy to just see Dee enjoying halo for being halo
