So different than the digesters I used to run . Mine where called rotary digesters that was tall as 3 stories .Ran at 150 lbs of steam at 305 degrees the cycle took 4hours 45 min ..we cooked flax waste that looked like hay bales to soften it up then bleached and refined as it goes out to the paper machines . We made cigarette paper .
I had no choice they shut one of the paper machines down and was bumped to the pulp mill running flax digesters, washers and impressafiners I worked at the top floor of the mill all by myself wich had the pulp mill office flax storage set to be taken by bay numbers to load into the digester wich was 82 bales . Some times I would work for more than a week.with out seeing a supervisor or foreman as long as everything was running good no one bothered you .Also it was dusty ,dirty ,and stinky and many big roaches that would crawl down the flax bales trying to escape as it falls into the digester with caustic chemicals like battery acid
