Thank you for this excellent video! It was clutch for my clutch install! I did a few things different. (Removed center console, left bother towers alone. Had both shift arms out in minutes).
Great explanation step by step, thank you so much, please continue the great work, these videos are really helpful. I have a Toyota FJ Cruiser 2014 and the engine is starting to sound like a cricket, and when I depress the clutch pedal, the noise is gone.
its no wonder why my dad is a master tech. he and I have done this job 2 times now on my 07 cruiser both times never dropping the transmission. hell yeah
Thank you very much for your excellent video and sharing your knowledge. This is really helpful for me to changed my 07 fj cruiser. 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟 🌟 for your videos...
Excellent Sir! I left the transmission shifter tower , only removing the knob since it will clear the shifter hole, unlike the 4x selector.. Also, I believe that I could have left the rear u-joint of the rear driveline connected. Thank you greatly again!!!
My fj got a Clunk in driveline everytime I shift 3rd and 5th syncros gone while it takes great effort to shift into any other gear. Throwout bearing squeals and chirps louder than my phone on max volume. Jesus
I just had a new clutch fitted to my 2013 fj, and it is now noisier to drive than before. The noise seems to be coming up through the gears tick. No specific noise, just louder in general than it was. Any ideas?
How did u install the 4x4 shifter tower . I tried and attached all the bolts it's fit perfectly but when I try to move the stick with out starting the car it doesn't move to shift position . Any tips in that
Thanks for the effort, video and useful info :) It's a real pain in the @$$ I wonder how much this process cost at the dealership/random workshop (only hand work = parts not included) ? Here in Saudi Arabia : Non 4x4 manual transmission (without transfer case) : dealership = $350-$400 / random workshop = $200-$250 4x4 manual transmission (with transfer case) : dealership = $500-$600 / random workshop = $300-$350 Are we being ripped off or these prices are considered standard ? How much does it cost (where you live) if I may ask ?
I was thinking of doing this myself and no way do I have the ability to do this here at home. :( bummer. I dont think i'd have enough clearance if i just had it jacked up.
I have a 94 toyota pickup that is mostly a weekend warrior and not a daily driver. I want to make it more offroad / hauling capable so is installing a ceramic clutch with 1600lb load rating a good way to go?
Jeff Chartier Yes, I have a 1200LB rated kit on my 85. If you are doing lots of heavy hauling, re-gear your differentials. These old Toyota transmissions don't last that long if used for towing stuff. Never do wide open throttle in 5th gear.
We borrowed this one from a local used car dealer to use for instructions. Sadly, here in Utah a lot of vehicles look this way. They use a lot of salt on the reads in the winter and if the owners don't do an under car wash regularly they can really look bad in a hurry. I am glad your 08 looks so good. That is nearly ten years old. I am guessing you either wash regularly or you live in a mild climate or both. Thanks for watching and commenting.
lowrangeoffroad yes i live in the desert (MiddleEeast) the weather is very hot here almost 50 degrees Celsius .. also i want to thank you for this video its very detailed and easy to follow really appreciate it

My FJ has the same problem and I was told that its a bad throw-out baring. I hope that helps you

Did the loaner vehicle suffer from the infamous throw out bearing chirping?
What does this do?
I had my engine rebuild and clutch kit replaced and now is making this noise when releasing the clutch

Curious why you applied threadlock to clutch cover bolts (13:30). Official Toyota Service Manual page CL-23 does not call for it.
Also specifically says not to apply grease to input shaft housing (11:30) page CL-24
