Ross great video keep up good work thanks again for laugh 😅😅. What to your grandpa 1655 did you forget work that and 1755 make rethink how fix tractors 😮😮😮😮. But Ross spending time with your true love like puppy ❤ for luxury fiat, yugo tractor shame on you. 😅😅😅😅😅😅. Once again thank for laugh Ross.
"I'll take it apart ... if you chase the parts!" Your uncle's been had! Shopping always takes twice as long as the actual fixing (unless torches and pipe wrenches are involved).
A little bit of patience goes a long way. Plus some heat and a hammer, lol. I thought you were very blessed to have all of those bolts come loose without twisting off.
Lucky you...getting to be the official family wrench turner lol. Owing to the nature of the beast, figured it would require liberal use of the good 'ole smoke wrench. Only heard one rooster crow though!!!
Wow,I finally heard some animal noises, thought lately you were trying to clean the speech,up but don't it's fine it keeps you real,as always enjoy the work and the talking while you work, thanks
Having a lot of experience with taper pulleys in the Oil Patch, driving a small long taper chisel in the slot on the taper will usually loosen it so it will come off. This suggestion is being sent backward in time to help you. Also, the whole spindle assembly would probably in time be cheaper than all of your time and energy. My guess is that your uncle has no grease gun.
Often those spindles are built with sealed bearings and a grease zerk on the spindle to fill a cavity that is sealed off from the bearings -- putting grease in there makes you at least feel like you are doing something.
@@jvin248 Yeah big debate should you remove thin bearing seal shield or you could drill couple tiny holes in the bearing shield let grease in or simply pack bearings by hand every year 🙂(many videos on Tube about this) lol
I would have taken the spindle out and replaced it and not screwed with bearings. I had a similar assembly on a scag Zero Turn and spindle replacement was the answer.
Just so you/he know next time, the other two holes in the flange that holds the pulley on, are to put the bolts in and press the flange off the shaft, no hammer necessary.
@rosstheoliverman I ran a tap through them and used the bolts to remove the pullies. My deck was plenty rusted with holes through it that I had to patch up.
I have the same mower with the same problem. Your video saved me hours of frustration and I'm so glad I discovered it. Thanks so much
You are definitely smarter than I. You rembered it was hot and didn't just grab it like I would have.
🤣🤣🤣
Because of this video I was able to change out a spindle without taking it to the dealership. Thank you for posting!
Awesome!!! I’m glad the videos are helping people
Ross I do believe that spindle was a pain in the butt. Thanks Michael
It was a fighter 🤣
Liked the video Ross. You gotta love beating on those old bearings. They are a great stress reliever.
You can definitely take out your anger on them 🤣

🤣 thanks Derek!
great video i had bagan to wonder about it coming apart but forgot about your torch
The torch is mechanics best friend.
It’s the go to tool 🤣

Don’t worry, I twisted some off putting it back together 🤣

I cut out a lot of footage 🤣

🤣 thanks Doug!
Nice job I probably would have tossed it and bought new spindle.
That’s what we ended up doing
It hasn’t rained here in so long I think my mower thinks it’s raining
My mower is sitting in one spot. I’d like to say it was because we didn’t have rain but really it’s because it ran out of gas 🤣
Don't forget the anti seeze when you put back together.
I used grease but yeah

I know, that’s the bad thing about the comments they come after I already did something stupid 🤣
You might try General Rubber in town . Might be less expensive than a dealer belt .
I wish I would have thought of that. The new belt was $98 at the dealer.
I do know that sometimes the dealer has better quality stuff. The belts with Kevlar are much better than stuff you can buy at the auto parts store.
@@rosstheoliverman Back when I worked at the feed mill in Seymour we got our belts for the grain leg and bins at general.
That hub was a problem because you were probably still thinking about that 'two hand job'!!
🤣🤣🤣
👍👍
Thanks Tom!
You lost a socket off the back of the deck on the off side to the camera.
I realize this was a ways back but just thought I’d mention it:)!

If you watched part 2, that’s what happened.
@@rosstheoliverman I didn't notice part 2 until later on in the day. I replace a bunch of them in the 16 years I owned that lawn mower.

Unless they’re rusted, like this one.

i uh came down here because i heard that there was chocolate chip ice cream
🤣
Heat and beat and then repeat.
And swear 🤣
Never took anything like that apart before, so I learned a thing or 2. Interesting!
It’s Tons of fun 🤣
Go get a spindal and be done with it !
That’s what he ended up doing.
With only one blade why so many pulley wheels and long belt ? Engineering at it's best .
It's a 3 blade mower
@@dankreoger611 ok sorry I only saw one in the middle .
Yeah it’s a 3 blade.
👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
