The Boys' problems isn't Butcher. The Boys' problems is that they generally suck. Vought's Supes are the most deranged and retarded superhumans ever, most of their crimes being the result of mindless carelessness. However, the Boys are almost as bad. They have AWFUL luck and are just a complete disaster. Almost none of their plans work properly, they're always surviving by the skin of their teeth, their collateral is insane. At least with Suicide Squad, you know that mission will most likely get done. Things might spin out of control, but it's rarely due to incompetence or carelessness.

Rem’s awake, no one in the Emilia camp has died, they saved Vollachia, etc. he still has his trauma and all that but his suffering is rewarded a lot more than it is for Guts.
The difference is that Mothers Milk was able to LEAVE the Boys. He only came back because he knew they needed him. You can leave the group if you even want to.

One thing I notice the he always does is say the one he would go with last. So by the second to last one you already know what he's going to pick. So what if he randomly decided to have a list, say them in his usual order. We all assume the the last one he picks is gonna be the best option. There is a big difference between the comic boys and the show boys. The show is definitely more flushed out and kinda “family” vibe while the comics couldn’t care less, Butcher murders everyone minus Hughey in the end.

if the suicide squad movie didn't prove how low your chances of survival are from not just taking on life threatening missions and betrayal from your own teammates, but to end up being sacrificial lambs for the actual team to complete the mission, you might as well just accept the death penalty immediately
Both options drop my life expectancy so low I'd rather pick the world where I know that after death I can get something. I'd probably get my head popped but I'd prefer that over what might be a horrendous and drawn out death.
Waller is a crap boss. In one of the animated movie (and I'm going off of memory so I could be misremembering some parts) when she airdropped her squad, she waited until the last minute to let their parachutes open and it almost killed one of them, and this was just to prove the point that she was in charge and their lives were in her hands. Waller is a control freak who's not afraid to take the nuclear option, and even fail the mission for her team just to satisfy her ego. Hell, she's even set them up for failure. She sent the squad into Arkham to steal a usb drive that she knew didn't exist. The squad only survived cause they found a way to neutralize the bombs before it was too late. The only way you're surviving that psycho being in control is pure plot armor, nothing less.
Both teams would be realistically awful to join in real life for many reasons. However, at least with the Boys, there's a moderate guarantee of camaraderie between the members. Anything that involves Amanda Waller, by comparison, is an on-site "fuck that" to me.
