@@cowsonzambonis6 thanks! It’s always hard for me to tell a scale - so I always like yo see it next time similar type sets. Minifigures are a huge draw for me for many sets, so I tend to focus on them, haha
The thing about Malfoy Manor is that it looks magnificent. It is a small pity that it’s not a deep set, but that just gives MOCers room for manoeuvre. I personally like it, it has the spirit I think of the old Graveyard Duel set from 2005, I think that would look really well alongside it for the spooky aesthetic 😋 However, Voldemort in pants just doesn’t sit right with me 😅
I really like this set and I think the size is appropriate. I can’t help but wonder if both the minifig style (subdued expressions) and the lighter color of the house is still Lego being a little hesitant on the theme getting too “dark”. I’ve seen more than a few people mention how Lego took a while to get around to touching the deathly hallows movies at all. Great review as usual!
@@JJOSamsung Thanks and that is a solid point. This is very much a play scale set … but the last few HP books/films feel a lot less like children’s works and more like YA - so I think LEGO has had to carefully walk that line when covering some of the later scenes
I actually like it a lot. I think most people are overreacting about the interrior. I remember people loving grimmauld place, and eventhough it has a amazing play feature, the interrior is just horrible. This set has way more detailing inside and outside.
@@JJMLYI also don't understand it when people say they wished it was bigger. Why? We only see the diningroom, entrance hall and dungeon's in the movie. 2 of the 3 are well represented in this build, and the entrance hall is just a big open space with some stairs. The build is also pretty wide as is, I could not justify putting it on a shelf if it was any wider or deeper.
Nice review! I feel super mixed on this set because I don't feel like the colors help capture the darkness and eeriness of the estate. I don't think there should be any brown or green used for the structure. I'm a bit confused why light brown and green was used so heavily for the exterior. I think I'll save my money on this and use it towards something else.
I don't get why Draco and Luna are reusing face prints from other characters instead of using the faces that were created specifically for those two characters. One could say that those pieces are already out of production by the time this set released, but other face prints that were introduced in 2018 are still appearing in sets.
@@scottyboydownunder Good additions! I have 2 of the ministry set - I’m going to move the extra Yaxley here (opposed to having him walking backwards with a different hairpiece on display to just look like a random background person, haha)
@alterego2275 I agree about many of the figures, but appreciate the new face prints for many of them. It is defo playsdale for sure - doll house style, so much smaller than the DTC style sets were used to seeing with LEGO HP

Another great review! Your commentary on the minifigs was spot on. Leg printing/dress pieces would’ve really added a lot to the set.
@@PACasey I should have grabbed more of the D&D mind flayers for the extra black skirts!! Haha
Great review! I appreciated the comparison with other sets and seeing each minifig in detail!

@ I love the minifigs, too- so exciting when we get new prints/characters!
Great review and set. It is on my list of things to buy.

My guess is to make it less “dark” given some of the things that happen in the manor 😅 - but I agree with your point about the coloring for sure

Yeah I was surprised to see that for Draco and I didn’t even realize that for Luna!!
I think they always leave a few minifigures out on most sets , I added Snape , wormtail and Corban Yaxley to the dining room

Minifigs are so downgraded, and the build is just a facade practically

"very complete"???? It's a wall with some windows and a dining table. It's not in any way a complete model.
