Issue is MSFT's too focused on a unified GDK for multiple hw configurations instead of focusing on one base platform, thats how you end up with a Series S and X launching at the same time. As a software engineer I want to build to one target spec. This is why unlike in previous gens, devs arent putting in much effort in Series X games, including studios owned by MSFT. They need to make one base console and launch one piece of hardware at a time even for software development reasons. You can see Sony's cloud gaming offering have better performance as well because they target one hw spec. Even the PS5 pro development requires simply designing a game around the base PS5 and then scaling up what can be scaled up to the PS5 pro. Its really that easy. So if MSFT goes back to the Xbox 360 days of focus everything will fall in place. But this focus on building and supporting multiple platforms with different hw configurations is going to cause them a lot more problems.

Ive owned a Steam Deck and currently own an ROG Ally. Both are great devices, but neither are selling like gangbusters. VR has about 10x the userbase of the entire PC handhelds market, so anyone thinking an Xbox's handheld will sell any better than their current consoles isnt paying attention.
The upcoming handheld console has garnered significant anticipation. It is widely acknowledged that Microsoft and Xbox are committed to ensuring the success of this product. The console platform may potentially adopt a software-based approach, leveraging the Game Pass service. While the specific form factor and configuration of the console remain uncertain,
The thing is, as an industry, the consoles that are in our future are going to be replaced after 14 years. Discless consoles are all about iterative steps and economies of scale. Even if overall console sales are slowing down on both sides, it still behooves both Sony and MS to iterate on them to save money due to economies of scale that now exist after four years of production. It's also an insidious way to do away with physical media. This all-digital ecosystem MS has planned does not sit well with me because it's anti-consumer by design e.g. Nobody will ever own anything ever again, and is at the mercy of company servers and content curation. Forget game preservation, too.
Only good about the Xbox, the lack of hacking. It’s the only platform I feel sure I’m not playing against someone with mods. I love crossplay, but pc has a major problem with how easily anti cheat keeps getting beat. People keep saying Microsoft needs to go PC to feel different, but I don’t really want that.
I have been using emulators since 2010 and it seems inevitable that current software given 10 to 15 years will be easy to download and play on pc at no cost, that includes Nintendo, Xbox, Sony, and Steam games.
A simple, easy change makes sense. Remove the drive, maybe change the M.2 SSD module to 2 TB, new injection mold based on the old one and you've got a new SKU with minimal effort or development/engineering cost. The production doesn't need to be changed, either. It's just a slight modification to the final assembly to leave out the drive use a different case and maybe install a different SSD.
I heard it was going to be the exact same price at $500 and where you don't get the disc drive they said you would get double the storage so it's rated for 2 terabyte instead of 1tb
Losing money is part of experimentation, they should make it and handheld, they bought some many studios, All they have to do is make good games for it
As it is, the Series X will be my last Xbox console, and when my Game Pass Ultimate sub runs out, I won’t be renewing. The Global Product Marketing Manager attacking “white males” on social media is disgusting, and doing so while openly advertising that she represents the Xbox brand means it is condoned. This isn’t even getting into the fact that the head of Compulsion just came out and said that she hates gamers, Phil just blamed capitalism for why the brand is failing at the moment despite the Series consoles outselling the One consoles in a fraction of the time and GP reaching over 30 mil subs, and after years of acquisitions here we are about to go into Q2 of the year without a single release after the promise of a few games a quarter, including at least one AAA title. It’s no wonder Team Xbox is looking to take the brand multiplat when it turns out that their plan after building up mindshare was to turn around and take a piss on their userbase. Ridiculous, but 100% self inflicted. I can tell you that when someone comes up and punches me in the face, the last thing I’m thinking about is rewarding their absolute shit behavior.
and so naturally, Steam, Epic store, etc etc, can be on "Xbox". Just not the console xbox but the windows handheld "Xbox". But well, free news is good.
Oh my goodness 😂 You guys need to chill out. This culture war nonsense needs to stop. Fighting it on either side is a fruitless effort. Let people be people.
Wow. Neither one of these is remotely appealing to me. I have less than no interest in sitting hunched over a handheld with a tiny screen and cramped controls when I can game on a glorious 77” 4K 120hz OLED with VRR, or an ultra wide monitor with double that refresh rate for PC gaming. Why would I want to cede control of MY purchased content to a company/device without a disc drive? These hardware decisions are the very definition of anti-consumer. Less choice, less comfort, less enjoyment.

Woke MS & Xbox is getting zero of my money .
Sega game gear
Digital should be called the Xbox Series XD
My question is who needs to have the same product repackage once again
Don't you already have Xbox serie s
I heard it was going to be the exact same price at $500 and where you don't get the disc drive they said you would get double the storage so it's rated for 2 terabyte instead of 1tb
Losing money is part of experimentation, they should make it and handheld, they bought some many studios, All they have to do is make good games for it
Sega GAMEGEAR 😍
Remember switch is king of handheld
No
Phil Spencer has lost his mind.
FIRST :D
Wow 😮
🤦♂️
@@mrglass7133 I know, right?
I can tell you that when someone comes up and punches me in the face, the last thing I’m thinking about is rewarding their absolute shit behavior.
if they make a hand held, the right thumb stick has to be offset from the buttons. if it's directly under them it'll be an issue.
Everything Phil has said... make me think this handheld is running Windows, and not the Windows Core, hyper-v, Xbox the console, is running
and so naturally, Steam, Epic store, etc etc, can be on "Xbox". Just not the console xbox but the windows handheld "Xbox". But well, free news is good.
take an Xbox controller and slap it on a surface tablet
you have the technology
I WANT A DISC DRIVE!!!!
Why discs are being phased out the times are changing!
@@swellerace
we should revolt. people don't know they're giving up ownership of their games
Is this real or not.
What a lazy design, ripped out the disk drive and its still the same size
I’m all in on Xbox
Every time I hear Phil talk about Xbox it's all lies, whole Xbox team needs to be fired. Replace them with team that's not woke and loves games.
Speaking of woke, you see their global marketing head screech White man bad on Twitter? Lol.
Oh my goodness 😂 You guys need to chill out. This culture war nonsense needs to stop. Fighting it on either side is a fruitless effort. Let people be people.
@@LordBeef yea, let's just ignore and let the race baiting self hating people ruin gaming. No big deal.
@@LordBeeftell that to MS. Stop dividing and just make good games
@@GamingTalk-cl7xj Xbox still don't want games like Stellar Blade on the system. Hahaha. And everyone calls PlayStation woke
You don't play games anyway. After all you did say on the comments thread for one of Mystic's videos that you wanted to delete games from your playstation trophies that you barely had any trophies for 🤣
@@Donald_Allan That response is an absolute slap 😂 Love it.
@@KyleSetFire You should have seen his comment on Mystic's video. It was hilarious. Now every time I see him post a comment, I just remind him of what it was he said 🤣
I want the ps portal but xbox version because I'm simple and you can game remotely if you do a little research and they sell a remote ps5 power button pusher you can activate when away from home to turn on your ps5
It's possible to save on cost... maybe offer a local option and a streaming option
just a thought they don't have to make millions just make a few hundred thousand and see how they sell
playstation portal is absolute garbage lol they just need to make a native handheld its 2024 not 2004 its time now to make a big console and then a handheld like the switch
The Xbox app can do that, it has remote play features and all you have to do is hook up a controller or a backbone
Now I’m confused they have a digital series s/x
There's nothing that confusing about it 🤣
Not sure why you're confused. Digital media dominates gaming today and Microsoft and even Sony are taking steps at phasing it out like PC did years ago.
@@mynameismud-qd9vu so why u have a series S and X,some countries don’t have no internet and you can’t play ur games without internet
@@Donald_Allan what is the difference between series s and x
@@kingsleyjackson8287 Surely you know what the difference is? 🤣
