I love watching you snag these cars and bringing them back to like new. And your insane attention to detail always makes me want to make my own cars even better. Thanks for always sharing your adventures with us Honda/Acura lovers!
Welcome to the DC5 world, Tyson! Simply the best Acura made - bang for the buck! This should be a an easuy transformation hopefully and that K20 engine if maintained right will keep going and going!
I can't wait to see this when it's fully restored. Judging by how well the Legend Coupe came out, this one will be no exception. I can tell your neighbor is a sweetheart but judging by the bodywork, she might've had a fair share of poles during her time with it. 😁
The personal stories that accompany your restoration projects are wonderful and unique. You've really found a way to connect what would be an otherwise standard vehicle restoration to something so much more. There should be a reunion with all the owners that have had their cars brought back to their former glory. This is great!
Love it! Excited to see the resto project on this one! Please share part sourcing if possible, also in the middle of a restoration and parts are tough to come by.😬
Back in Nov. 2000, I was #3 on the list at my local dealer for the so-called Integra replacement. I returned a leased 1998 Frost White GS-R and took delivery of a Nighthawk RSX Type-S in June 2001 as a 2002 model. Per Honda Motor Co. the $23,670.00 MSRP was NOT marked up. It was the first year of a new model and never had a single issue for 89k miles when I traded to a 2008 Tafetta Civic Si Navi w/summer tires. Around 2009, I found a 2006 Nighthawk RSX Type-S in very good condition that is now a garaged weekend driver. I leave all the daily city potholes for my 4x4 pickup😒
Ah, man, this is awesome! Looking forward to watching the rebuild! I test drove a 2005 RSX back before I bought my 2003 Accord V6 coupe, and I really liked it but didn’t buy it. I test drove a TSX, LOVED it, but didn’t buy it. One of these days I’ll test drive and then purchase an Acura…
Wow, another one! Always liked them especially in blue. Looks like PS is likely an o ring. Another nice pick up. Arizona DMV must now have come to expect your vanity plate requests
Congratulations! I always loved these. Even looked at a few to replace my TL-S. Eventually settled on a Celica GT-S because my dad had one when I was a kid. Both very capable and fun cars!!
@@TysonHugie if you’re ever in North Texas, you have an open invitation to drive mine! It’s got 300k on the clock but she’s got a new engine under the hood. Actually, a lot of new. My dad and I ‘restored’ it. Still needs some minor paint and body. Was scrolling back through the video and noticed a Celica in the background of the picture of you with your buddy’s RSX.
Susan, she's cool! I remember being on holiday break from college and visiting Jay Wolfe Acura in Kansas City in '01. There it was, the all new RSX in the showroom. My buddy and I were really impressed. I remember the sales guy telling us how engineer detailed it was with the engine intake and exhaust on opposite sides from previous Honda motors. Crazy that was over 20 years ago 😅
I owned a 2002 base silver RSX and then a 2005 base green RSX. Never a fast car, but precise gearbox and felt special inside.....a worthy replacement for my 1992 Prelude.
@@TysonHugie Totally agree. That said, 7 years of driving my 2012 TSX Wagon has convinced me that it's the Honda I want to basically drive and maintain forever!
Did anyone else catch the error on the window sticker right under *technical features*? (5:58) Not really that significant, but I thought the "V6" misprint was pretty wild. Very spicy car though, manual trans, one-owner Type-S.
Might want to replace the PS pump O-rings - simple and cheap fix for most whine issues. Part #s 91345RDAA01 91370SV4000 and only need a 10mm ratchet and socket.
Late December of 2021, had a car accident. My car got totaled. I’m extremely picky which car am I going to get next. 4 days later of continuing my pursuit… 2002 Acura RSX Type-S in Arctic Blue Pearl…. 😲….. 100,998 miles… 💯% stock… literally all intact and in much better conditions than that one (except missing only the cup tray tap, 1) and needed a new alternator and fixing the AC. I had to buy it ASAP even if I had to ship it from Illinois to Michigan. Seriously. About $13,900 😮… I’ll say…. fuck it, I gotta have it! I bought it cash and I got most of my previous car’s value so I literally just spent about $3,000 for the car in difference. Dude… the car didn’t even had tinted windows and not even a spoiler and ESPECIALLY stock radio 📻 which I love it!!! So much!! 😂♥️🛞 I remember when it came out, I was just 11 prior my birthday.
RSX'S were/are pretty nice. If I missed it, I apologize, but what do you think about the first Legend in '86 on up? Do you have one? The '89 era were nice too, the 4-door and the coupe. I'm a total Legend fanatic! In '93 my mom was going to get another Legend in that I think Sherwood green? Unfortunately, she opted for the Lexus ES300. It was a total letdown. I also want to know your thoughts on the '96 on up RL? I love'em! My parents bought me a new one many years ago in Naples gold. Stan
I personally prefer the 05/06 type S models to the 02/03/04 models. I just don't like the way the front and rear ends look in the 02/03/04 models. I drive a 05 type S model.
Susan's a real G. Drove a 6 spd Acura for 21 years then passed it to the best person to have it. May she enjoy a long time with her new ride.
Agreed! And I can't wait to show her how this one comes out when it's done.
Kudos to Susan to have bought a stick shift in her 50's. That is awesome. And congrats to you, the RSX is in good hands!
Thank you!
It's so hard to find RSX Type S that are not all clapped out or with low mileage. Can't wait to see how the restoration will turn out.
Thanks Marc!
She’s adorable. Looking forward to this restoration. I wanted an RSX so bad when I was in high school.
Thank you, I'm looking forward to it as well!!
RSX-S came out less than a year after I bought my ‘01 Prelude and I def had envy for the Acura. Loved the red gauges - reminded me of BMW at the time.
Yes! The cabin at nighttime in this car is awesome.
I love watching you snag these cars and bringing them back to like new. And your insane attention to detail always makes me want to make my own cars even better.

I know, love the K20! Thank you!
that engine sounds so good in that mini pull. WOW!
Still does great!

Haha yes she definitely had some struggles based on the body! But at least mechanically it's good now (update on the next vid).
Woohoo Susan is awesome to drive that in her 50s all the way to 70s
I was thinking the same thing!
So stoked for you man!
Thank you sir! Me too!

Haha I like the reunion idea!
Very much looking forward to this beauty getting the Tyson treatment. And of course the new license plate did not disappoint!
Haha, I was pretty happy with that one! Thanks Greg!
Susan sure is a snappy gal driving that s type manual on up into her mid 70s. I’m impressed! Youthful soul!
Agreed!

I owned a 06 Type S for short of time that I really enjoyed driving. Looking forward to seeing more videos
It’s a fun car! Thanks Hass. More to come 😄
Sad to see these cars beat up. Looked for a decent condition type s and gave up after a couple years. Looking forward to the finished product 🤙🏼
Thank you, me too, we'll see what we can do with this!

Looks like a neat wee project that you're sure to make look factory fresh!
Haha I'm used to a challenge!
Keeping Honda and us alive

Cool new project. Looks like every panel on the exterior will get some love. Can't wait to see the reveal video with the former owner.
For sure, I'm getting into the habit of these extreme makeover reveals, haha.
I’ve always loved the RSX, can’t wait to see what you do with it! And the shirt is 🔥🔥😜
Haha thanks again Tim!
I had a similar power steering noise with an 07 CRV. I replaced the orings on the PS lines and it worked well.
It's all sorted now (car had some work done since this was filmed - more to come!). Thanks for the tip!
About time you finally get a dc5 🔥🔥🔥
Agreed!
I also had a '97 SLX that rocked!
Great ride!

Definitely, and the window sticker misprint is being correct. It's a replica (as are the stickers for many of my cars)
Whoa, another one. Have you gone to a meeting lately? 😆
Haha, rehab please!
@@TysonHugie 🤣
Honestly Tyson all you need is the OEM 05-06 shocks and springs it lowers the car just a teeny bit but keeps it oem 😁
Good idea...
Looking good, i also have a type-s ive been restoring
Nice, I'd love to see some videos
Finally a video on this one! :)
I know, took a few months to catch up on content. Plus I wanted to get the TSX more or less finished before diving into a new project.
Man Tyson going for the 00’s era now RSX Type S, CL9 TSX manual, TL Type S Manual, next on the list FA5/FG2 Si or 1Gen Fit Manual.
Yes! Sounds like a plan.
I had an 05 RSX Type S. 210 bhp from 2 liters, at 8100 rpm.
Awesome ride!
I love Acura Rsx-TypeS Amazing car❤
Agreed
Hold on. Was OMG RPM the original Plate from Susan? She is a cool woman. She was like 54/55 and got a RSX instead of a CRV or Rdx.
Agreed! Let's do the math. She turned 75 this year. The RSX is 22. So she would have been in her early 50s. The OMG RPM plate is mine.
Might want to replace the PS pump O-rings - simple and cheap fix for most whine issues. Part #s 91345RDAA01 91370SV4000 and only need a 10mm ratchet and socket.
Thank you for that!!
Where can we get that legend shirt?
I'll have to ask my friend Tim!
Nice, I have 2 Type-S's. One is turbo.
Awesome rides
The only question I’d have for her is going from this to a Kia Soul?! 😂 that’s wild. Lucky you for getting a nice RSX.
Right? I'd rather have the beat up RSX :)
@@TysonHugie I figured she’d be going into a RDX or at least a Honda HRV.
I can't imagine being 75 years old and wanting to deal with a manual transmission! Curious if that "acute Acura" has it's original clutch?
