since I'm also in Kentucky and plan to do the same, how much did the permit cost? Was it pretty easy? Are you going for flatbed? good luck and let us know how it goes for you
$24 for application, $61 for skills test and standard permit. I had no trouble with the test, I watched a lot of videos on youtube(Roehl has a few). I watched some from others that explained everything after each question. I’m going for flatbed.
@@AustinDugan can you explain a little better? All I've heard of is the learners permit general knowledge and air brakes and combination. is that what you mean by skills test?
@@givenhawk yeah, that’s what it is. That’s just what they have it listed as on my receipt. They had me take my general knowledge first and when you pass that, they setup the other two. You only have to answer enough questions to pass, which is 80%, and it will automatically take you to the end and you don’t have to finish the whole test. Mine was on an iPad and it told me if I got the answer correct or not and gives you the option to skip questions to come back to later in the test, if needed
I just got an offer to go to work for Roehl. I don’t have a ton of options since I am a recent CDL school grad. I am just curious why you left because I know you were happy there
The main thing for me that made me decide to leave were some of the people I had to deal with at the shippers and consignees. It was nothing with Roehl, personally. Though I was disappointed with the pay. But I believe roehl is a great place to start out and possibly even stay in the long run.
Just curious. Is it easy to park in stops like that back to back so no one can get into either of 2 trucks? Just a thought. Don't have my permit yet, but almost. Trying to learn all the ins and outs before I even start. Thanks!
I don't think it would be possible to park back to back, the way they have the parking lots set up at the oasis. I think a guard shack at each end with a couple of guards would take care of the problem and provide jobs for more people as well who are interested in becoming security. When are you planning to go to roehl to start the gycdl program? Keep us updated if you don't mind 👍
I had to get my permit first and I studied a couple apps for that. I have a video explaining that process. Most of what I did in Indiana was more training than studying, as far as the driving goes. But you do have an 8 page packet to study a lot for your pretrip which is very important. They will give you one of those packets when you get there 👍
