Peter, I don't know why, but every time I watch your videos I find myself dazed and just feel mentally and emotionally better than I did before I listened to your talks. You're very calming, but mostly I love how you almost talk about sweet nothingness which I do sometimes when I'm very tired. I just start talking and giggling to myself and that's what happens when I listen to you. I get that high and giggle. Thank you for making me feel great and relaxed every time I listen. 💛💙💜💚
Omg I totally know what your talking about! Sometimes when I am resting, thinking in my rocking chair, everything in my minds eye just keeps shrinking and shrinking, smaller and smaller, until I can't see it. Then everything around it starts shrinking. I also can't control it. I had forgotten about it since it hasn't happened in a few weeks.
That's really weird, first time I've heard of something like that. The closest thing I've experienced was when one time I was fully awake and thinking about stuff and my brain gave me a jumpscare. It was like a dead body with no eyes shouting at me for a fraction of a second, and I had no control over it and I didn't even see it coming.
TheBlueArsenic i get it to.and when it happens it feels like i am realy tall and i start to panic. And also sometimes in my mind in bed i feel my tshirt and it feels realy thick and wierd
Oh my gosh that happens to me too! I wonder if it happens to a lot of people or if its some kind of disorder?? There HAS to be a name for it! Ive experienced this so much and I HATE it x)
....my mind is blown, I thought I was alone!! wow... for me it started when I was a child, and I had a fever dream.. incredible that others get this too!
About that weird imagination thing you mentioned, I have also had this happen to me. being only 16, i have tried to learn to controll it. I try and let it happen and then force myself to reimagine everything back to normal, and it is very scary.
It happens to me too, and I also can´t control the speed of the thought too. It can go extremly fast, slow or normal speed. I´m 19 years old and I´ve had this since i was a child. Also when that happends i get nauseous.
I don't get this fully but I do get where my mind just won't imagine certain things properly. Like I'll try to imagine someone hitting a home run it never works out. The bat warps out of the way or the guy moves the bat out of the way
I get those same disproportionate vision sort of things, i was always told its because my body/brain is realigning and getting to grips with size. I usually get it more when ive been drawing
Buddy,i really appreciate your videos,i'm not sure what it is about them but they've really helped me through some difficult times. Just sitting there, drawing and listening to you is relaxing haha. Keep up the good work~!
could you please talk about moodiness? or how you focus on art? because i love to draw but im mostly in a bad mood and cant focus on it. (because of school and stress)
wow, i have exactly the same mind glitches every once in a while. for me, it happens when i try falling asleep, i will feel my own body warping in and out of proportion and i will see this visually while my eyes are closed. my legs and arms will stretch into strings and compress to thick logs. very weird and scary.. when it happens, i have to open my eyes and even move my body about to get rid of the sensation. haven't had it for a while now though, and i never remember quite how it feels until it happens again. anyway, love your channel, this is my first ever comment under one of your videos, but i've been a big fan for a great while now! keep it up!
you are the best! I watch you late at night when its hard to sleep or when I'm stressed and maybe if I'm ambitious I draw along with you. you are a true inspiration. thank you
Peter, I choked up when you started taking about the mental images you get. I got so excited hearing someone else talk about it. I've tried explaining the aggressive nature of them to people, but eventually gave up after no reciprocation. Mine have sound. There's a humming that changes pitch as the images swell and shrivel.
Peter, for chronic headaches you have you stand on your head while chewing a bulb of garlic and singing Justin Bieber. Funny enough, this is also how you get less butter coffee.
The imagination thing happens to me! Although in mine it's usually where I'm trying to imagine, say, a perfect circle but no matter what I do it's squiggly or out of proportion. It also happens when I try to imagine a single-colored background, and there are always little specks or lines of other colors.
No. two cars doing 60mph hitting each other head on does not equal a 120mph collision if the cars are equal weight. It would be like hitting a wall at 60.
I know this vid is a bit old and probably no one cares anymore but the weird proportions thing is an actual thing, look up alice in wonderland syndrom. My psychriatrist told me about it when i told him things in my mind were speedin up or slowing down or changing sizes, it usually happens when you are going thru a lot of stress or maybe your not getting enough sleep orr you have lots of changes going on in your life~
Do you know if there is also a thing where things stick together and you just cant separate them? that happened to me very often when i was younger and when i think about it it still sometimes happens. i used to be annoyed and stressed out by it but now its funny to me.
at around 25 min: I have the exact same problem. I used to try to rationalize it telling myself it was from caffeine making these strange bright, rapidly changing figures or geometric shapes. My heart would pound like I'm stuck in sleep paralysis. SO, I completely understand what you're talking about. It's unexplainably terrifying.
I do that stop light thing too.. also if I'm not thinking about it.. I'll start to try to remember if I ran a light or not... or I look behind me to make sure I didn't just run a light because if ppl are following, we can't all be idiots.
Peter, in regards to the minds eye "glitching" thing, do you have any past experiences with any drugs, specifically psychedelics? Even infrequent cannabis use has been shown, at least anecdotally, to cause stuff like that.
haha, they track whether you browse or not. they probably also track whether you buy something but i know that people get more money if you click around on the site and stay there for a few minutes.
I think I know just what you mean with the not being able to control your imagination thing. Or at least, something very similar happens to me either when I try falling asleep and am feeling anxious (mostly actually because I've eaten sugar before bed or haven't eaten a real dinner). Then I can't control what I "see" when my eyes are closed. Or when I'm writing an exam and it's all quiet and I have no outer stimulus. Than it's more like having a song in your head but not being able to chose the noises. Sometimes it escalates into a panic attack but not always. Breathing exercises, vegetables and just trying to switch focus works pretty well for me. Also knowing what it is (anxiety in my case) and that you're not going "crazy" is usually comforting.
New to your channel and just found his podcast and noticed it is July 4th.🇺🇸😊 everything you talk about is great to listen to, you have a very soothing voice.
Hey, when I used French press it was about 4 cups per pot :) It's pretty easy to set up, I just thought it was annoying to clean. I would take it all apart and whatever and clean each piece by hand. Not sure if it was necessary, but it was kind of annoying after awhile.
"In most cases a pink residue is likely a result of airborne bacteria which produce a pinkish or dark gray film on moist surfaces. This film is usually found as a ring that accumulates at the water line in the toilet bowl or around showerheads, shower doors or curtains, sink drains, bathtubs, tiles and grout... There are several things you can do to prevent the pink stains from developing. Drying wet surfaces after use will prevent the bacteria from growing."
If you like lead, fluoride and a bunch of other contaminants keep drinking that tap water. Chapel hill is in a state of emergency due to an unsafe level of fluoride in their tap water atm. Toxic levels are being reported. Mind you any level of fluoride is toxic but some people don't much care about facts and all that. Keep doing what you want though, your health is you responsibility. :)
Fluoride (not flouride) lol has never been PROVEN to prevent cavities. Nice google search though. Read more talk less please. Facts about Fluoride 1. Most Developed Countries Do Not Fluoridate Their Water More people drink fluoridated water in the US alone than in the rest of the world combined. In Western Europe, for instance, 97 percent of the population drinks non-fluoridated water. 2. Fluoridated Countries Do Not Have Less Tooth Decay Than Non-Fluoridated Countries According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is no discernible difference in tooth decay between developed countries that fluoridate their water and those that do not. The decline in tooth decay the US has experienced over the last 60 years, which is often attributed to fluoridated water, has likewise occurred in all developed countries (most of which do not fluoridate their water). 3. 40% of American Teenagers Show Visible Signs of Fluoride Overexposure About 40 percent of American teens have dental fluorosis, a condition that refers to changes in the appearance of tooth enamel that are caused by long-term ingestion of fluoride during the time teeth are forming. In some areas, fluorosis rates are as high as 70-80 percent, with some children suffering from advanced forms. 4. Dr. John Doull, who chaired the National Academy of Science’s review on fluoride, the safety of fluoridation remains “unsettled” and “we have much less information than we should, considering how long it has been going on.” In 2006, Doull’s committee at the NAS published an exhaustive 500-page review of fluoride’s toxicity. The report concludes that fluoride is an “endocrine disruptor” and can affect many things in the body, including the bones, the brain, the thyroid gland, the pineal gland, and even blood sugar levels.
but fluoride does prevent tooth decay, you can say it doesnt but thats just chemically wrong, the enamel on our teeth is made up of a calcium compound called apatite, in which is very soluble in the acids in different drinks and foods, whereas when fluoride reacts with this, we get fluoro-apatite, in which isnt as soluble in the acids. also saying that countries that arent developed dont use fluoridated water and yet tooth decay rates are the same, this will be down to many factors, not just the fluoridated water, things such as people in less developed countries drinking less carbonated beverages etc.
Heyyy Peter, the place I work at -- janitoring -- the toilet water leaves pink residue if it sits and doesn't... circulate, for more than a day. So there's that.(:
listened to this entire thing while using my drawing tablet. I've barley made any progress on what I'm drawing. I am not fast at drawing :T Looking forward to your next podcast, it's awesome to listen to you while working on my own art work.
lol Its probably rust making your water pink, maybe? I love to listen to you and draw! It's like having a conversation about coffee, with a weird faceless friend.
Pink residue is "Biofilm" is exactly what it sounds like. Don't drink out of milk cartons. pop bottles, anything your going to put bacteria in it. As for showers & toilets same. If you want to go non chemical mix vinager & water. Or Baking soda & water wipe dry. Thi biofilm likes moist,(I hate that word) AREAS.
Okay. This phenomenon you describe here 24:20, this happens to me also. something very like it, anyway. It happens as I'm trying to fall asleep, and I usually take it as a sign that I'm about halfway to that goal. I tend to casually fantasize about random scenarios to settle me mind at bed time, and when this thing happens it's a bit like losing control of a vehicle to me. My thoughts slip out of gear and won't answer the helm. It's as though my brain goes into a REM cycle before the rest of me is actually asleep. What I do to get out of it is deliberately sit up a bit and focus my eyes on something in the room (or on and invisible point if I happen to be in total darkness) for a few seconds. That knocks things back into sync.
Peter Draws it's probably lime that's stuck in the bottom of your water heater, I don't know why it would be pink but that's generally what happens with city water
"The pink bacteria that builds up on the grout between your shower tiles is known scientifically as Serratia marcescens, and it feeds on fatty substances such as soap scum." Google it and read for preventive measures.
I wouldn't think in the era of information one would have to say this but I guess I'm mistaken. Instant access to a well spring of information and people still remain in willful ignorance of basic things like whats in their water. lol The future sure is bright.
The pink thing happens in my tub and in my cat's water dish. It is an algae that comes from sitting too long i think. Its probably been in places you lived before, but just not visible. When i look at my cat's dish, i cant see the stuff, but when i wipe it with a paper towel, it shows up on the towel.
My mother says that yes, it's possible to make three cups of coffee with one "french press thing" though it depends on the size of of the french press or the cup.
i get the pink 'mold' its not the water but something that thrives in moist areas, satisfying to clean! then just keep sterilising the tiles every so often once they are clean with a quick spray of something maybe, i wouldnt worry about the water you are drinking :)
i have this "not being able to control my imagination" thing too! just not with body proportions. for some reason when i imagine things which arent completly natural, they suddenly turn extremly natural! like suddenly spiderman crashes into a street sign! its annoying
im also constantly getting scared i mess up the rules for something in my head, and do it wrong, but those rules are so easy to remember. i dont trust my brain abilities either
since you seem to not want advises i'm gonna give you one anyway haha. Your pink residu in your water is either because your water heater is close to be dead or because you have "hard water" like I have at my home. Buy a Brita filter pot if you want but its not dangerous. Your body won't explode 😂
peter, that imagination thing always happen to me too, but it isnt with people, its like, i always try to set a glass down but when i take my hand off of it, as one does when setting down a glass, it vigorously flys off of the surface, and its very scary because i know that i should be able to set down a glass in my imagination but it just doesnt work
The pink is a result of iron found in older pipes OR sometimes its a bacteria which produces a pinkish or gray film on moist surfaces. It is more than likely Serratia Marcescens. If its iron, it won't hurt you at all. If its the bacteria it shouldn't be an issue in the tub or a sink because it happens when water sits out. If you are thinking its affecting your coffee, its probably not because the heat would destroy it. If you can keep things dry without water sitting once you've gotten rid of the scale, it shouldn't come back. I cam live, a lot.I sometimes end up singing for 4 hours straight, or making art and talking the entire time.
the light thing happens to me sometimes too.. like once i had been crying and i was tired and stopped at a green light, fully thinking that i was supposed to.. another time i mixed up what side of the road i was supposed to be on and drove on the wrong side, but luckily was on a very empty road and realized the mistake soon after when someone saw me and honked
I have that same mind thing sometimes. Not bodies going out of proportion usually but basically images that my minds creating that I don't have control of. It's usually something different every time. Usually I just open my eyes to stop it
Peter, all these geological places you were talking about sound familiar. I live in virginia beach, VA. I was hoping you live near here lol. Was the ski story at wintergreen? Ive been there
I get that proportion thing too but it's a bit different because my mind will imagine a smooth sphere and then randomly it will start becoming more rough and course and more and more cell shaded or something, then it will go back to a normal smooth sphere. It's really weird.
Hey Peter Draws, I adore your channel, you're very creative and it helps inspire me. Also that pink stuff is normal, same thing happened to me. We had to get our grout redone and it hasn't happened since then. I hope that helps!
One time I was stopped at a stop light and I thought the light turned green, so I went. Then I realized the light did not turn green. It was still red. Luckily, there was no passing traffic. So I get it when you say sometimes maybe you wonder if you still know the rules of the road.
I've had similar experiences with the imagination when trying to fall asleep..where body parts are impossibly large...Not sure what's going on with that..the way you described it freaked me out cause I thought that was something I was on my own on..Doesn't scare me cause its been going on since I was a young boy..I just let it ride.
Also got that pink slime residue...I'm pretty sure its a Florida thing..they are saying its most likely an airborne bacteria..Serratia marcesens. Supposedly harmless..By the way..Love your drawing and story telling..You're an inspiration..keep it up dudebrother.
The part where you go on about people distorting, that actually does happen to me sometimes too, but I can usually control it while it's happening. It almost seems like an animation of a drug trip
As far as the part you spoke of with your imagination being uncontrollable, I've experienced similar things especially when I really try hard to visualize something happening or myself doing something. However, instead of people proportions being off, things fall over randomly
When driving,,,, NEVER TRUST ANOTHER VEHICLE/DRIVER. You must always drive DEFENSIVELY, keeping your eyes and ears OPEN, scanning NEAR and FAR up and down the streets in ALL directions
OMG Peter. That weird disproportion thing happens to me as well. That's so odd. Even as you concentrate harder on the actual size of an object or part of an object, it seems to expand or contract, to change to something far different than you have seen before or thought you should have seen. I usually don't become scared by it but I will admit there is a sense of uncomfortable uncontrollability... I can't believe you described this. Really, I had never heard of anyone even mention this before, nor have I ever thought to explain it. Thank you Peter.
The elephantiasis!! When I was a kid I had this reoccurring nightmare(not like startling awake just psychologically frightening) where people had minuscule tiny heads on ginormous bodies and vice Versa. I'd get a physically painful ache in my back and be terrified. Not sure why it was so scary or why I'd imagine it.... I even painted a family like that for an art show in elementary school. Weird I hadn't thought of that in forever.
That weird brain thing where limbs grow and shrink to crazy proportions happened to me all the time a few years ago. It hasn't happened in a while. I had completely forgotten about it until now. I was never really present to the fact I wasn't in control of it but I definitely wasn't. I had a completely different reaction though, I thought it was wonky and odd, didn't frighten me much.
!!! i very much relate to the uncontrollable imagination thing, i have something similar! instead of proportions changing tho, it's more repetitive motions becoming uncontrollably fast (ex: wheel spinning, arms moving), and i often have to do something physical to make it stop, like holding out my hand
The minds eye thing happens to me, too, but usually only when I have a fever or I'm sick and laying in bed in the dark. It has to be dark for that to happen. My mind's eye doesn't glitch when there's light on my eyelids. Weird.
And omg I have the same panic as well. With stuff in general, not just driving. Even basic stuff that I know are true I still start to doubt it sometimes, I have no clue why
Huh, I basically cannot make any coherent pictures with my mind's eye, but about as often as you describe and in the same kind of situations my mind can suddenly create detailed pictures of things without me having any control over it. I can however imagine voices and sentences (with my mind's ear I guess) and I do so all the time. Fairly often when I'm drifting off to sleep outside of my regular sleep schedule I'll start hearing voices as though they're spoken somewhere in the same room as me rather than in my head, they never address me, and in the beginning they usually use "words" but not an actual language. As time goes on and I stay in the same headspace (which I do for the same reasons you site) the number of voices increases, they start to overlap, the words become intelligible, there are full sentences and snippets of conversations, and the whole thing swells and swells until it's so intense that I can't take anymore of it. It's out of my control and the experience is so interesting that I try to keep it going for as long as I can, and when I do snap out of it my heart rate is always a bit higher. Perhaps we're experiencing the same state of mind applied to different thinking styles.

2017 Podcast Of The Year, no question, zero doubt, if you disagree you ain't with the shits and you hate culture.
Let me guess...anyone who doesn't like the music or food you like is also against "culture" ?
Lowzenza You seem like a blast. Thanks for the input, champ.
Yea you too buddy,, you're a total blast.
Good God, it's like a passive aggressive 911 in here...
What about the Official Podcast?
I love sitting at my desk to start the work day and having Peter make my mornings more enjoyable. Coffee, art, and soothing videos are best life.
YOU GET THE WEIRD PROPORTION THING TOO!?!?!?!? I THOUGHT I WAS ALONE!!!!!
I call it the little big feeling.
me as well :)
Sounds like lucid dreaming to me. When you get to rest - don't move and your body begins to sleep but you mind doesn't as you willingly don't let it.
I was so emotionally invested in the coffee maker, thank you

Haha, it wasn't me this time.
Peter Draws this time?
I get the weird mind glitch thing too! Although usually for me it's with objects, rooms or basic forms.
It's so odd
You should write a content free book ! lol

I love your podcasts and real time videos!! I like to sit down and draw while your video plays and it is almost like we're drawing together:)
that weird proportion thing happens to me sometimes with my eyes open. sometimes a person's head will get bigger
Wow I've had the disproportion thing too, a lot sometimes. It happens when I go to sleep. Really cool that you mention it.

I've seen "Primer",like, 15 times and still have questions! I LOVE that movie!!
Benji Frost fluoride* doesn't clean water. what are you like 16? Go read a book.
Fluoride (not flouride) lol has never been PROVEN to prevent cavities. Nice google search though. Read more talk less please.
Facts about Fluoride
1. Most Developed Countries Do Not Fluoridate Their Water
More people drink fluoridated water in the US alone than in the rest
of the world combined. In Western Europe, for instance, 97 percent of
the population drinks non-fluoridated water.
2. Fluoridated Countries Do Not Have Less Tooth Decay Than Non-Fluoridated Countries
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there is no
discernible difference in tooth decay between developed countries that
fluoridate their water and those that do not. The decline in tooth decay
the US has experienced over the last 60 years, which is often
attributed to fluoridated water, has likewise occurred in all developed
countries (most of which do not fluoridate their water).
3. 40% of American Teenagers Show Visible Signs of Fluoride Overexposure
About 40 percent of American teens have dental fluorosis,
a condition that refers to changes in the appearance of tooth enamel
that are caused by long-term ingestion of fluoride during the time teeth
are forming. In some areas, fluorosis rates are as high as 70-80
percent, with some children suffering from advanced forms.
4. Dr. John Doull, who chaired the National Academy of Science’s review on
fluoride, the safety of fluoridation remains “unsettled” and “we have
much less information than we should, considering how long it has been
going on.” In 2006, Doull’s committee at the NAS published an
exhaustive 500-page review of fluoride’s toxicity.
I am not fast at drawing :T
Looking forward to your next podcast, it's awesome to listen to you while working on my own art work.
lol Its probably rust making your water pink, maybe?
Notification Squad!!!
Zombie Tuba Yo!!
Zombie Tuba same
Peter, I need this later in the day, but thanks. love your videos
15:24 best transition ever! :D
I really like the shading in the final product! In the next podcast you should talk about light bulbs, that would be cool.
your voice is like asmr
I am literally going to sleep to this
good night
In here to listen and draw along :D.
I have the pink residue too! LOL!!! WHAT EVEN IS IT?!?!?!
maybe it's cotton candy
Peter Draws it's probably lime that's stuck in the bottom of your water heater, I don't know why it would be pink but that's generally what happens with city water
A pink lime would be delicious!
"The pink bacteria that builds up on the grout
between your shower tiles is known scientifically as Serratia
marcescens, and it feeds on fatty substances such as soap scum." Google it and read for preventive measures.
I wouldn't think in the era of information one would have to say this but I guess I'm mistaken. Instant access to a well spring of information and people still remain in willful ignorance of basic things like whats in their water. lol The future sure is bright.
That intro hits hard in 2020. rip 2017 and now. We are almost done with 2020 xD
The pink thing happens in my tub and in my cat's water dish. It is an algae that comes from sitting too long i think. Its probably been in places you lived before, but just not visible. When i look at my cat's dish, i cant see the stuff, but when i wipe it with a paper towel, it shows up on the towel.
to be honest, I listened to this to fall asleep. You have such a great voice.
lol....same. his voice is calming
My mother says that yes, it's possible to make three cups of coffee with one "french press thing" though it depends on the size of of the french press or the cup.
i get the pink 'mold' its not the water but something that thrives in moist areas, satisfying to clean! then just keep sterilising the tiles every so often once they are clean with a quick spray of something maybe, i wouldnt worry about the water you are drinking :)
yesss I'm going to clean my room while listening, maybe draw myself too
Man-made snow:
Either very fine beads of plastic, shredded styrofoam, or actual snow coming from snow blowers.
i have this "not being able to control my imagination" thing too! just not with body proportions. for some reason when i imagine things which arent completly natural, they suddenly turn extremly natural! like suddenly spiderman crashes into a street sign! its annoying
im also constantly getting scared i mess up the rules for something in my head, and do it wrong, but those rules are so easy to remember. i dont trust my brain abilities either
since you seem to not want advises i'm gonna give you one anyway haha. Your pink residu in your water is either because your water heater is close to be dead or because you have "hard water" like I have at my home. Buy a Brita filter pot if you want but its not dangerous. Your body won't explode 😂
www.nearlynaturalmomma.com/2013/12/whats-pink-sink.html
how many hours a day would you say you spend drawing Peter?
0-100 real quick
Peter Draws lolwut
Peter Draws you're a funny guy
I probably spend one hour a day drawing Peter. I still don't have the hair right, yet. :)
i dont know how long he would spend drawing but i know i would watch every second
peter, that imagination thing always happen to me too, but it isnt with people, its like, i always try to set a glass down but when i take my hand off of it, as one does when setting down a glass, it vigorously flys off of the surface, and its very scary because i know that i should be able to set down a glass in my imagination but it just doesnt work
The pink is a result of iron found in older pipes OR sometimes its a bacteria which produces a pinkish or gray film on moist surfaces.
Ive been there
my favorite thing to listen to
I get that proportion thing too but it's a bit different because my mind will imagine a smooth sphere and then randomly it will start becoming more rough and course and more and more cell shaded or something, then it will go back to a normal smooth sphere. It's really weird.
Hey Peter Draws, I adore your channel, you're very creative and it helps inspire me. Also that pink stuff is normal, same thing happened to me. We had to get our grout redone and it hasn't happened since then. I hope that helps!
I have those awake dreams where people get really big and I feel squashed.
I love these podcasts
I love you, Peter. ❤
You must always drive DEFENSIVELY, keeping your eyes and ears OPEN, scanning NEAR and FAR up and down the streets in ALL directions
your anxiety about traffic lights is the same anxiety I'd get about multiplication math problems in school.
i think you have a very calming voice
Hi Peter....thanks for all the videos - really appreciate them. How often do you clean your pens?
More more more! I love this!
You should draw more like this 😁 it's AWESOME 👏👏
!!! i very much relate to the uncontrollable imagination thing, i have something similar! instead of proportions changing tho, it's more repetitive motions becoming uncontrollably fast (ex: wheel spinning, arms moving), and i often have to do something physical to make it stop, like holding out my hand
Love your work Peter
We get the pink stuff too, my mum says it's a type of algae or something closely related.
