If a G is put before e or i it’s pronounced the same way.

I'm from Extremadura and as you said it has an amazing history even though it is not considered as a historical community for political reasons, but we also have amazing food and monumets due to the history that we have lived. A fun fact of Extremadura is that here we grow a lot of pigs to create jamon ibérico and rhey usually eat acorn, so as we are two provinces the ones from the north call to the ones of the south belloteros (bottom part of the acorn) and the ones from the souther provinces call the ones from the north mangurrinos (top part of the acorn). I love Extremadura, every single part of it and i recommend everyone who read this to come and enjoy it too in a respectful way to our history and nature 💚🤍🖤

The term for what happened came later with the raise of nationalism, back then people didn't use that word and for instance the conquest arrived just to Ceuta and Melilla that are cities on the North of Africa, outside the peninsula. Also, the existence of Portugal that before the Muslims settled down was non-existent, and they weren't invaded... so it's a complex topic!
Well, yeah, nowadays wokism (the mind virus in Elon Musk’s words) is spreading its insanity all across our lives, and history is not an exception. The Muslims invaded and conquered most of the Iberian Peninsula, and then the Christians kicked back the Muslims and re-conquered the territory. The famous, historically accurate allocution just before the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa (1212) was “we are all Spaniards”, proving without any doubt that despite Spain was not yet a nation state, there was a very clear and emotional awareness among the Iberian Christian kingdoms of something somehow common to all of them, and that “something” was an entity called Spain, which later on came to be one of the first nation states in the world. The different languages spoken today are an almost perfect match of the populations that were moved into the re-conquered territories: Portuguese on the West, as it was occupied by Galician settlers, Castilian in the center, as it was occupied by Castilians, and Catalan in the East as it was occupied by Aragonese settlers. So Portugal is the result of Galician settlers, Muslims played no role in its creation. The fact that that famous “pacific coexistance” they invented now is sheer bullshit is that DNA analysis show current Spaniards have more genetic similarities to the Irish than to the Morocans, who are 15 km away. The reason is that there was no mixture between Christians and Muslims. Ceuta and Melilla has no relation at all whatsoever, they came to be Spanish/Portuguese centuries after the Reconquista ended.’

I don't totally agree with this, it wasn't until the 18th-19th century that Spain became the country that it's today.
