It, of course, played off Hopper's predicalation for hats. For those who don't know, Hedda Hopper, and rival Louella Parsons, were the best known and most powerful reporters/gossip columnists during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Today people are more familiar with Hopper's son Willliam--as Paul Drake on PERRY MASON, and Natalie Wood's father in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. Hedda died only a few months after this program aired.
Yes, Hedda recorded her dialogue several months before-- but didn't live to see the final broadcast version on March 30, 1966. She passed away on February 1, 1966, two months before it was shown.
Her character, Hedda Hatter, was the only non-canonical character in the cartoon. Erroneously credited as the Mad Hatter (Harvey Korman was the voice for that character), she apparently was the Mad Hatter's wife (!). Sad to say her appearance is the most dated thing about this cartoon.
The legendary voice actor Daws Butler as the March Hare and Carol Burnett alum Harvey Korman as the Mad Hatter.
Plus Don Messick as the Doormouse and Janet Waldo as Alice.
We love you Hedda Hopper 😢
(May 2nd, 1885 - February 1st, 1966)

Look, it's Julia Gillard
The mad hatter doing a french man impression sounded kinda racist.
But a French actor wearing a cowboy hat is not. Ya, I get it now.
I do wish this movie on dvd
Hedda Hopper, the original Gossip Girl!
Where did you get this clip? I wish they would release this again. I had the LP record way back when.
