It's lovely that ''Phillip'' (Don Warrington) is still going strong. He a police chief on an island in the Caribbean in a show called 'Death in Paradise'. Quite a difference from living with cold, wet 'rising damp'. 😀
Agreed 👍I think he's a brilliant actor.
The last line, 'Can you ride tandem?', is a reference to a PG Tips advertisement of the time that featured chimpanzees. In fact, all the PG Tips adverts for a number of years featured chimpanzees with voices over them.
Yeah remember that, one chimp had yellow cycling gear on and a peaked baseball cap on. of course some of the best ads had Rigby and Joan Collins in.
@@TheGathumpus For some reason those adverts were never shown here in Northern Ireland. You could buy the tea ok but the adverts were never allowed here. Weird..
Your comments are right on the mark .I am from that generation and the events of that period does influence ones opinion ,the difference is that some of us from that period can adjust our thinking to match the time and it can be vital if one has pragmatism among their human traits because progress can be positive as well as negative , even though what constitutes progress will be debated in the same vain as any other human bias and belief.
Very well put sir..I fetched up here on the wirral...from Northern Ireland...yes.things were very different back then...Leonard Rossiter was a decent fella..privileged to have net him.😊...
@@eamonnclabby7067 Thank you sir .I suspect that in the future this generation will look back at their youth and feel the exact same as you and i do today ,seeing how in their old age how life has changed though i do not think i would like to know just how they see their life changes regardless of the so called progress. You were lucky to have met Leonard Rossiter.
What does all that mean "one?"
Rising Damp & Porridge is some of the best comedy of all time. So glad you enjoy it.
A classic comedy. Thank you so much for your fun reaction, loved it.
It's really dialogue heavy, and it's fast paced and it's brilliant because of it.
its really funny series i esp like the hypnotist one , in real life Leonard rossiter played squash and left men half his age standing he was super fit ,but still died of a heart attack ,another bit of info Leonard loved Richard who played Alan helped him a lot and was gutted when Alan died very young also i believe from heart problems , and him and the actress who played miss jones had very different politics and didnt really get on of screen ,which makes the comedy even better when personal preferences didnt inhibit their performances ,
True...peace and love from the wirral peninsula...❤
Absolute classic, loved this when I was growing up .
Even through all of the political incorrect dialogue,,,what’s brilliant is that Phil is Head and Shoulders above everyone else from an intellectual point of view. The very excellent DON WARRINGTON .
Classic English comedy rigsby is a comedy genius
Glad you've watched another episode of Rising Damp Alan 🙂
Rigsby (Leonard Rossiter) was in-fact a very fit man
He was a very good squash player.
This episode aired on the 21st of November, 1975 and I was born one week later on the 28th.
yay another saggi born on same day as me 28th nov get on
At the end the "Can you ride tandem?" refernced a PG Tips advert which for decades used chimps.
EB👍had to click immediately mate, love your reactions to this classic. The banter between Phillip(Don Warrington) and Rigsby(Leonard Rossiter) are brilliant, but probably too close for comfort by today's standards. Had a great laugh, thank you buddy✌️🍻
I used to be called a black Irish bar steward back then...now am just a grey haired one....peace and love from the wirral peninsula...met Leonard Rossite. top man...😊
Boy one of the funnier episodes, but still enjoyable and interesting enough.
other great episodes are- pink carnations, and the episode where Rigsby & Ruth try to get married.
'His antiquated mindset'. Thats good, that. I guess, unfortunately, it happens to us all to a degree if we don't die first.
Thank you for your reactions, you're so genuine with your laughs, Bottom is a favourite of mine if you ever fancy reacting to that!
Long haired guy student is Kate Beckensale's dad👍🏼👍🏼
I can't believe I only just noticed this reaction ! I love this episode !!
One of my favourite episodes, rigsby is definitely laughing when Alan is about to start the fight
Frances La Tour is in hilarilous in comedy series "VICIOUS" 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🤓🤓🤓❤❤❤❤
Mrs jones was the giant from Harry Potter that dated hagrid

Love this show. Could you review Man about the house at some point?
Loved your review of this brilliant show
I'll definitely take a look at it at some point.
@@TheEclecticBeard if you like British 70s sitcoms, I recommend adding this to your list 😊😊😊
Great show, great episode and glad you enjoy it so much. You seem to like British comedy.
Not to bad for an early 70's citcom as you say some of the lines are an antiquated way of thinking, the best parts for me is your reaction and laughter!!!!
Cheers for great vid EB
Brilliant comedy💥
Thank you for this, I grew up with this wonderful series Some things recently not been interested in your reactions though love this
Wait until you see the Sports Car episode...you might bust a gut!
I guess you could put Rising Damp in that genre of comedy that seeks to lampoon or satirise the right wing/reactionary mindset. Other examples would be 'Til Death Us Do Part /All In the Family, the Pub Landlord (Al Murray), Love Thy Neighbour and even Family Guy. And I think they all, apart from Rising Damp, have a serious flaw in that they end up lionising or approving of the main character (watch the live audience reaction to the Pub Landlord if you doubt this). The reason I set Rising Damp apart from this is that Rigsby is always the loser and always remains a figure to be ridiculed, especially in relation to the suave and sophisticated Phillip.
Such a great series. Yes minister is a great one to check out 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 if you have already then ignore haha
I'd be happy to fizz with miss Jones 😜
Alan, you have waited far too long to come back to Rising Damp.
I must have missed episode 1 of series 2, can't seem to find it.👍
I believe you'll have to go back 2 months
@@TheEclecticBeard nah...best just come to the wirral...groundhog day...that said a lot of folk simply do not accept that now...
Please react to “Lily Savage on Parkinson” … absolutely hilarious
Till Death Us Do Part another comedy. Alf Garnet the lead character andhis suffering family.
really good
06:57 You did say NBA, right? Otherwise I'd have to look up what kind of sport NV8 relates to.
10:42 Quite possibly even Churchill would've considered his views antiquated.
When might we expect to see the next episode of still game?🙌🏼🙂
there is a film version of rising damp ,but unfortunately Richard bekensale [alan] had passed by then and his character was replaced with another it still worked well ,but not as good as the series , but at least they didnt just keep the same character and change the actor thats always a disaster ,
e.b try rab c nessbit was more popular in the day, than still game and i like stilll game too.
amazing wonderfull great fantastic incredible wow.
👍😂😂😂😂❤
Great video 👍A piece of advise don't watch the rising damp movie! it spoils the whole show and back story 😢
Wait till stage struck series 3
Half of it's been cut out.
Yeah, so it didn't get blocked.
Kate Beckinsale dad
Can I just say you need to watch dinner for one from 1950s you will love it❤
I still love your laugh but I'm betting you never got to Tandem part at the end there so this will explain. Oh and yes, I am that old lol Peace Boss ua-cam.com/video/KqNnPrxzm3g/v-deo.html
Potted meat or potted Haugh ,is absolutely delicious, ❤ happy healthy peace, p,s don't ever take anabolic steroids, you don't need them
Acchhh… you’ve ruined it. You’ve cut lots of it out 🤷🏻♂️
Reaction. Not watch along. I have to cut stuff out otherwise it doesn't make it up
@@TheEclecticBeard Clarity and brevity sir...well done..😅😅
@@TheEclecticBeard
Ahhh, apologies. I wasn’t aware. I’m not clear of the variations. So, as it’s not edited, is “Still Game” a ‘watch-along’…?
Rising damp is crap.. always was always will be. I'm surprised this won any poll apart from Englands' worst sitcom... It's only really remembered in England for the outdated racial slurs. Don Warringtons' best part was in Red Dwarf.. "Lister to red dwarf"... etc
@Philip Payne Maybe.. I'm ginger so I didn't notice between the chesney from coronation Street or Ed Sheeran jokes. There's a difference between hatred and banter.
Nonsense - it's a proper classic. On the Buses was pretty lame though.
@Philip Payne It was sort of okay but not in the same league as Rising Damp. Love Thy Neighbour was pretty good too and I enjoy it very much but I wouldn't even hold that in such high esteem as I do Rising Damp. Steptoe and Son and Hancock's Half Hour are up there too. 😊
@@Strange_Club Compared to the classics like Porridge, Open all hours, Only Fools.. It doesn't come close. I can't understand why Steptoe and son never gets a reaction. Timeless.
@Squirrel7t7, outdated racial slurs? You mean the ignorant antiquated views that are immediately shown to be ignorant throughout the episodes. Which is one of the great things about shows like this. You not only hear antiquated view points but get to see the absurdity of them in action as well when the rest of the characters prove a point or get one over on Rigsby. If you view a show like this through a modern sensibility then it's easy to get offended and say it's crap. When you take it for what it is. A show that breaks down racial and imperialistic views with comedic effect showing how silly they are, well then, it's a proper show to watch because the antiquated ideas aren't used for malicious effect but to later be the butt of a joke that proves a point.
I think you missed an episode from series 1, the wrestler and the radio too loud
