I love how everyone in the comments nostalgia describes the show as a fever dream lol I actually really loved the show when I was a little girl, but I thought that the two frogs were a fever dream and now I realize that they were real. I wish there was more programming in classical genres like ballet.

This is the biggest fever dream for me. I remember the sewer scene giving me nightmares as a kid, but rewatching it, I’m shocked the goblin never gave me nightmares. I’m a 98 baby. I watched the show when I was like 4 maybe, so they must’ve replayed this randomly one night. I remember being excited for it.

I was half convinced this was a fever dream as none of my siblings could remember this toy castle special (besides their general fear/dislike of the clown + frogs in the regular show) so thanks for whoever posted this! Glad to see that the warped jester face is still nightmarish AF and not just distorted by my childhood memories 😅

@georgerobertson7010 Really? That's amazing! I don't know whether to be relieved or bummed that we never got to see more (possibly unintentionally?) scary classic fairytale moments from them. Jester/Jack in this was one of the first truly terrifying memories I have as a four year old. This probably helped shape my taste in horror tbh 😅

I read a book retelling of the steadfast tin soldier and I was like. Wait I remember a show growing up similar. I also thought this was a dream. Core memory unlocked.
My siblings and I watched this from entrance of the tv room, we were *that* terrified. I was only recently able to get over my fear of that jack in the box, I thought he was coming for me. I swear how was this for kids? Even now I'm trying to hide in the comments in case of any frightening appearances.
I only saw bits of it as a kid, I recognized a ton of the characters from Toy Castle but I never knew what it was called, thought it was a life stage performance at first. I didn't see the goblin nightmare scene so it didn't really scare me. But looking at the special now I can't help but see the similarities between the goblin and Marilyn Manson 😂
