Teen Arrested for Driving 121 Miles Per Hour: Cops

- Dash camera video from the Florida Highway Patrol shows a red Kia sedan on Interstate 95. Authorities say the person behind the wheel was hitting speeds of 121 miles per hour. The officer asked if the driver had been drinking, to which he said no. Even with those high speeds, this teen didn’t make it home any faster. In fact, he was arrested. The driver was booked on misdemeanor reckless driving, and released on $500 bond. Inside Edition Digital has more.

How so? Kid drives better then many people I’ve seen. Fear and hesitation is what kills, this kid knew exactly how to control his car at these speeds, and 121mph is literally nothing.
@@2seep It’s all about luck. At that speed, you couldn’t possibly have the reaction time to prevent an accident if something went wrong. Your car would be totaled along with you, best case scenario. Worst case would be a family you’d take out with you. Anyone who drives at this speed needs to have their license revoked. Way too many tragedies on the road every day to be playing with fire like this.
@@2seep fear and hesitation is not what kills. Its not having the time to react to other cars or for other cars to react to you. People die in seconds on the road, no matter how cool you and all these idiots think this is, or that its "actually safer", its not, and one day youre going to ruin the lives of your family and someone elses because you couldnt just drive like a respectful person.
@@2seep A Kia’s tires aren’t meant to drive 121 MPH. If one blows, it’s all over. For that guy & probably others. Also, even if the driver is good, other cars can do unpredictable stuff, especially if they see a fast driver in the rear view mirror and make a sudden change. Going 121 leaves zero room for error by anyone.
@@rachelt4792 Completely agree
One early Christmas Day, my brother and father were driving home. Dad had not been drinking (I never left his side at the party we were at). On the freeway people were doing 75-80 mph, even in the slow lane so we had go with the flow of traffic. All of a sudden, a small sports car whizzes past us going at least 110. I told dad, “I thought WE were going fast until that guy flew past us!”
I see this routinely in the New York City area. Maybe once every week or two. I wish the cops here would do more to crack down on driving at extreme speeds.
I was 18 years old and riding the school bus home in a 35-mph school zone. The bus had just passed the final intersection to my house just up the hill. All of a sudden a motorcycle appeared in the oncoming lane beside the bus. The motorcycle was going so fast that all I heard from its engine was "YERRRRRR......" and it was all over in only a second with the motorcycle almost out of sight in just that short amount of time. The speed he was going made the bus seem to be traveling a snail's pace. He must have been going at least 90.
@@MyNathanking that's a casual day on a sportbike. you can get to 90 real quick
@@ShongoStick Well well well, BattamG, I think I need to be schooled by you because apparently I'm a doofus as to what's really going on here. Can you PLEASE tell me the moron how the rate at which your vehicle can accelerate to 90 --- or God forbid --- to 121 --- plays into whether you deserve to get pulled over for speeding? I thought that when the cops pull you over for speeding, you get ticketed for going over the speed limit and driving dangerously and NOT because you took five seconds to accelerate to the speed at which the cops deemed you to be driving dangerously as opposed to ten or even fifteen seconds to get to that speed.
@@MyNathanking first of all relax bro, no reason to get your panties in a bunch. Secondly, getting up to speed quickly is far less dangerous than getting up to speed slowly. In the distance you can visually observe is safe with your eyes, you can accelerate up to high speed and back down even. That is far safer than having to pin the throttle for long periods of time, making your average speed much higher, and covering far more distance at speed.

Shortly after the onset of COVID when traffic volumes were at their lightest (May 2020), someone was caught going 192 MPH (308 km/h) on one of my local highways. Didnt get arrested but lost their license for 7 days and car impounded for 7 days. Ontario has made those penalties stiffer now. Last I heard it was a 30 day license suspension and car impounded 14 days.

how was he caught 💀
@@kainoapatlidzanov3639 To be totally honest, I have no idea how they caught up to him.
In some cases what drivers do is hold a steady speed, then accelerate to a super fast speed to see how fast the car goes, then slow back down to their initial steady speed. Maybe thats what this guy did, cant say for sure. But him saying he would feel comfortable going faster is terrifying for the safety of everyone out there. I hope his parents did not allow him to drive for a good long time after that.

I know right man?
In 2021, I drove recklessly through Indiana at 113 mph. It wasn’t until my court appearance where I had realized what I had done. Not only had I endangered my life but also many others that night, too. There was no excuse to defend my actions. I actually feel incredibly blessed nothing worse happened. Instead of 60 days in county, my plea only required 16 hours of community service. I have never driven beyond the speed limit since then and I am also additionally terrified to drive now (I seriously only use public transit; the car I was driving was my parent’s).
In hindsight, I am glad I was pulled over and cited; the traffic violation turned into my first misdemeanor. Who knows where I would be today had I not seen the consequences of my own actions. I was only 20. The tough but important lesson I learned after this was to not be selfish when operating these vehicles, or rather dangerous machines. Driving is a privilege but also a serious responsibility. Though I abused that privilege only one time, once is enough to permanently ruin someone else’s life. I can’t be selfish, especially on the road. That is what I learned from all of this. And I am still truly sorry for my actions that day.
