The soft side of our Metal Gods! Man Judas Priest was absolutely amazing with their ballads! This song chokes me up everytime 😢😢 Rob Halford could do it all!
The lyrics aren’t too complex, theres not that many lyrics in general. But the raw emotion in robs vocals is just insane, and the solo… wow. This song has always been a favorite of mine and it’s too underrated, this song is an absolute top 100 song EVER CREATED. The sadness and loneliness this song can bring out is wild, it’s like you live in the song for a moment. They just don’t make music like how they used to
I collected Judas Preist LPs since 1980. I admit, I discounted many cuts from Sin after Sin , as I was blinded by British Steel and Screaming for Vengeance. That said, this song stands up magnificently, as well as the earlier 'Run of Mill' as nothing short of Sublime.
Yeah, since Angel Of Retribution they've been mainly metal as hell. Not that it's a bad thing, they've had an amazing and consistent catalogue throughout the decades, but when they went "Breaking The Law/ Living After Midnight" 80s mode on British Steel, they moved away from this kind of classic rock sound. They have some great stuff from the late 60s-early 70s that many fans never heard. "Run Of The Mill" is a song I really enjoy but it's pretty distended from what people think when Judas Priest comes to mind
my girlfriend never liked many of these, whoever it was; they just don't *feel*, certain frequencies, or is it that dissonance turns 'em off, whereas, when i hear this track, i'm compelled to ride it to some resolution, some resonancy, to resolve and balance-out-the-dissonancy~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ rock hard! sail on, sailor! ha ha~~~~~!!!

never understood that Maiden vs Priest thing... as a die hard Maiden fan for more than 30 years a do LOVE and deeply respect the vintage Priest stuff too ;)
Here Come the Tears dawns so calm, illuminating a beautiful landscape of acoustic guitars sheltered by a noble and minimalist piano. Halford's voice spreads like a balm, a comfortable mantra that lengthens the syllables of a text immersed in loneliness and emotional misery, until it breaks in despair with trebles that waves through his vibratto, really similar of the climax and denouement from "Run of the Mill". Tipton launches his harrowing solo, and later, still playing it, Rob enters in that deep tone, doom mood, making a choral loop of great atmosphere with the title of the song as a symbol. The guitar infects us with its trembling from the bottom of the song, half-overshadowed by a closer Halford, who changes the register to more energetic while the initial chorus persists on the other hand, walking together low and high. Altogether feels like a free fall into the pit of a spiritual tragedy, but through an intense journey, in slow motion...until an explosion marks the end. The ecstasy is assured.
