- After seeing a episode of Great Big Story where they show the Japanese art of Tanago Fishing I was hooked. The hole premise of Tanago fishing is catching tiny fish not the biggest fish. The more micro the fish the grater the testament of you skills. And of course to do so you need a specula tiny fish set up. The Tanago rod’s are usually less than 3 feet long and build from bamboo and can take over a year to build. I found a nice one made from model construction methods that telescopes and a pack of almost Microscopic hooks and I was ready to give it a try.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
I love the way you have an above water and below water version of the music. Very creative way to make us feel like we had put our heads under water.

Ooh that brings back memories from when I was a kid when I and my brother used to compete on the number we could catch. Even more fun when a large perch decides to snag the tiddler you just hooked!

Pretty cool. I did some micro fishing at Fort Popham a month or so ago using a tiny mackerel rig. There were so many minnows in the water I was catching 2-3 of them every time I reeled in.

Get crescent Pillsbury dough rolls and use small black pepper size balls from it for bait...or adjust size for the fish

Tell her I think you ought to check out how to make a styrofoam fish tank with the girls and keep some of those tiny bass that you caught next time. That would probably make a really awesome video too. I'm thinking about working on one myself maybe I'll send you some pictures if I actually get it accomplished. And maybe someday if you ever make it out to California maybe you could even get to see it in person. And I've got to say it would be totally awesome to get to meet you in person just saying. Dash Cam worst comes to worst, you can buy some wire and make your own if you have the time and patience
In uk course anglers use that size and much smaller. I use kamasan hooks in brittish size 22 to catch minnows for livebait.
EBay has them and a few other different brands if you search for tanago.

Cool video, I do something similar here in Hawaii. Catch fish about that small to use for bait. It’s fun when nothings biting and my kid loves it.

I like seeing something new, but not worth the number of adds, especially if there's not any talking.
Next challenge. Using That micro fish as bait for bigger fish and then That fish for an even biggen fish.
I will use a thin stick and small hook. Just a money make thing. Not a fending you. Was fun to watch. But not up my alley.

Are barbed hooks standard for micro fishing like this? It sorta breaks my heart to see those little guys' cheeks torn up.
A millimeter is about the thickness of a dime. So you’re not using hooks under a millimeter.
At that size, you don't even need to clean or cook them. You don't even need to taste or chew them either, just wash them down.
