I couldnt help but notice that on the bullet eject port where you filed it down at a 45, you get to see all the layers of Damascus. Those front ports would have looked really cool 45'd to show the same. Beautiful double stack! Making my Staccato and Nighthawk quiver!
About what is the turn around time on gun work and price per hour? I'm just now getting into 2011/1911 pistols. I had a Para ordinance regular ol stainless 45 5" model but traded it off and now last week I bought a Staccato P and I'm extremely happy with this thing but I know it doesn't hold a candle to these guys guns and work.
as a gunsmith who ownes 2 shops i have built a few custom.....still get nervous EVERY TIME ...lol.. you sir make it look like a walk in the park! excellent workmanship on your part !
I have all those tools except the laser.... But I know for a fact I couldn't be that meticulous and precise with them to have a gun that comes out like that. That damascus slide is just something else. Beautiful Job. Beautiful gun.
I'm so jealous you have 2 Hayes custom pistols!!! What talent, craftsmanship and skill you have imbued into those pistols Mr. Hayes. May the lucky owner have them for many decades to come. The brief discussion about the trigger action was interesting. What a lovely video and thanks for sharing.
Absolutely phenomenal job! Those pistols are a gorgeous work of functional art! I think the only thing i would have added was some ports on the island barrel. I would love to have one of these 2011's!
Amassing work. Really like the piece. Only piece of advice for growing your channel would to rethink the music. I don't know if it was the volume or just the track itself.. but it was a bit annoying at points but I couldn't mute because I wanted to hear your narration. Maybe an intro and outro, but the whole time is painful. I hope your channel keeps growing.
Absolutely gorgeous guns. Love the custom trigger shoes! Terrific build video. Thanks! Once my gun money coffers fill again after an expensive 2023, I'll be ordering a Cobra. 😁
Absolutely incredible craftsmanship. That rose gold/damascus is too damn sexy. Will definitely be going with a black/rose gold island ported barrel build next year at some point.
Those are awesome. I have a boatload of 2011’s in high-end ones. These look amazing and different. The only thing they need is an optic cut.😅 great video on showing us your craft. You are a true artist.
This video is awesome! I’m leaving subscription and hoping that you will be making more vids like this. A lot of details and knowledge, great skills, experience. For people who love guns and like technical stuff it was epic. I often search and watch you tube through videos about handguns but this one was one of the most interesting I’ve ever seen. Best regards from Poland! 🙌🏻
wow man i am such a fan of 2011 multi stack full dust cover frames and all the extra porting and so on awesome to see you doing all the work ,,wish i could one defiantly in 45 though big fan of your work sir keep it up, im from SA and to own a gun has become a nightmare i had to give up all my collection sad but true, wow awesome your work is well done
Amazing Guns ! Amazing Art ! I love seeing someone doing what they love and you can tell this guys really enjoys gun smithing/metal craft/machining. I hope Im lucky enough to own a pistol half this nice one day.
Where did you learn all of this? I kind of wish I would have went into the firearm industry instead of IT. This pistol is an art piece. Beautiful work.
Thank you, i have followed your business for years. I can tell this comes second nature to you and your family. Now i am curious how many of my guns i need to sell to order one. Thanks for the video.
As a Damascus Knife maker, I am dying to know if a coffee blackening treatment would hold up to shooting and cleaning. Not even sure if the coffee etch would take as I don't work with Stainless Damascus (9Cr18Mov & 10Cr15CoMoV). Thanks, I want one now, lol. Gorgeous firearm, thank you for sharing your talents.
@@HayesCustomGuns I soak my knives over night 8-10 hours in a strong (half container) of instant coffee. Rinse and lightly hand rub just to remove the yellowing from the silver. Once dry, I lock it in with some Carnauba wax. It gives it a very nice contrast.
I would love to be able to do this kind of work someday. You made it look so effortless!! But I guess that just comes from a lot of time and mistakes lol beautiful guns!!
Ok so how much does one of these cost? I am not obsessed and keep finding more expensive 2011's to own. I thought my 2 year infinity wait would be the "last" one. But I am thinking I need a Hayes Custom now. I will be reaching our shortly, hoping you can do some type of comp build!
I love my Hayes, one of the best. I have asked my mom (wife) if I can have another. The skill and talent is remarkable. Ya go too deep with Dynafile it's not like you can bondo it.
Omg, I am such a metal snob! I build furniture and use the natural woods to make color. This gun screams to me amazing for its detail! What would the wait time and est. cost be? Such a beautiful piece!!
You are one amazing Smith. The quality of your work i would put up there with Sticatto and the other big boys. Beautiful Pistol you have made here. Wish i could afford yo have you build me a custom 2011 like this in 9mil or 357 sig. Again amazing work man and keep up the awesome work.!
Absolutely amazing work. True hand built craftsmanship! I am torn between the island barrel and a sight block or sight block comp ‘d option on my next custom. What are your thoughts?
It really depends on your intended use of the gun. If it’s for competition, the division will dictate some of it. But if it’s not a competition gun, I prefer the sight tracker. I think it has a higher “cool factor”, as well as balanced feel.
Looks great! When you were machining the slide serrations, were you cutting to scribed lines or do you have some math worked out for the angles and such?
For this style of cut, I set my zeroes and have the numbers memorized. In general, the more complex of a cut, the more I scribe lines and use other techniques for confirmation.
absolutely breath taking pieces of art. i am truly stunned. on a side not i really must know where to find the music you used for this video. that beat with the whistle in it is addicting and i must have that for some background music at all time lol
I have no doubts that this is in the neighborhood of a 4K gun, but the price matches the expertise, time and tooling required to produce it. I've done quite a few damascus projects but not on a firearm. The wheels are a turnin'... 👍
Would look to see more behind the scenes vids like this for you as well. I hear this kind of videos get a lot more views and I would definitely like to see you share how you do your craft. 🫡
*We have uploaded this video again without the background music.* find the new upload on our channel.
Still hearing music
@@Jackhammer909 check our channel. It’s a new video we just posted.
Great job.
Thank you
Where is it? Don't see it in your channel
I have a completely new appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship that goes into these custom builds.
I could never afford this level of quality... but I can appreciate it.
Get a RIA 1911 and send it to them. They can make it amazing for like a grand or so
Why say never? Things change. I was dirt poor before I came to America legally. And now I’m blessed….. never say never. Wishing you the best!

We may try to incorporate a cut to show that part of the layered steel. That sounds cool.
You said it perfectly...It's not the high end parts, it's the tuning. Beautiful work
I love that everything is done by hand. Even the slide work was done by hand. To have that level of confidence in your skill takes years to master.
Stumbled in, Thats some amazing gunsmithing there!
You make it look easy and what a sexy gun.
Always appreciate a true craftsman.
had a RIA done by Hayes Customs and by far the best pistol I own. Badass work,
I'm so proud to have 2 Hayes custom pistols!!!
Ben is the man!

no one is going to argue about the gold and damascus, but the rose color with the damascus is pure sexy.

Beautiful workmanship. Learned a great deal from this video.

This is like watching an award winning ballet!! Just beautiful!!
Gives you a great appreciation for why these guns cost so much. Beautiful work!

watching you work on the slide-to-frame fit was so satisfying.
This is the best built 2011 on UA-cam!!!
nice work. greetings from a gunsmith from Serbia

I like the beat, when you do this kind of work a good transic zone helps
AMAZING!!! You seriously need to do more videos !!
That was enjoyable to watch. Incredible craftsmanship.
True craftmanship at its best...
I like to see those shoot in slo-mo. That barrel and slide arrangement are interesting. Beautiful work.
Dude is as much artist as master craftsman! I bet those guns shoot every bit as nice as they look!
Insane work! Piece of art ! Greats from France 🇫🇷🇫🇷
Absolutely gorgeous guns. Love the custom trigger shoes! Terrific build video. Thanks! Once my gun money coffers fill again after an expensive 2023, I'll be ordering a Cobra. 😁
This is on of the most beautiful hand guns I've ever seen! 💯
I would absolutely love to do something like this as I have a little ocd problem that works to my advantage most of the time. Great job.
I'm loving the background music. Could you tell me what it is?
Me 2
I have a custom build w a Damascus slide, the tolerances and visual appeal to it are unbelievable. If you can score one, you def should.
Absolutely incredible craftsmanship. That rose gold/damascus is too damn sexy. Will definitely be going with a black/rose gold island ported barrel build next year at some point.
I can only dream of having your skill. Just wow! Thank you for the video! I now want my own shop and want to do this.
Man this guy has me believing I could do something like this 😅. Truly an incredible art.

Extremely beautiful pistols
Most beautiful gun and gun work ive seen! WOW!
Amazing work Ben!!! Beautiful set of pistols.
I would love to see a ton more ground up builds
Working on it 👍
Question if i wanted to bulid my own 2011 could i do this in 45cal? Would the grip module and mag have to be compatible with a 45mm platform?
We do not build HC1911’s in 45acp.
Where did you learn all of this? I kind of wish I would have went into the firearm industry instead of IT. This pistol is an art piece. Beautiful work.
Nice looking gun. But what are the measurements of it once it’s built?
Can you use blueing to figure out where the friction areas are on the slide?
a person can use dyken, or even magic marker to help hilight the wear spots.
Thank you, i have followed your business for years. I can tell this comes second nature to you and your family.

You made that rib cut look easy. I fully expect to bugger up a slide when I make my attempt.
Rose is always going to be my favorite
May I ask how much a custom side arm like that would cost please. Fantastic craftmanship sir.
YT does not allow that type of info. We would be happy to discuss details through our website.
@@HayesCustomGuns Ok Thank you for your reply.. Being in the UK hand guns are prohibited.. But once it was fascinating watching the work on the 911.
VERY Nice! I am not so much into the colored barrels, but you really did a GREAT Job!
What a great video. Probably the best in category. Great job 👏 👏👏
Gorgeous. Man, does this make me miss machining. Excellent work! I like that unique trigger shoe as well.
Would it be possible to send in a tisas 1911 commander for work to you guys? Or do y'all only do RIA upgrades?
May I know please what do you call that finished that seems "GOLD"?
Nicely done, thanks for sharing! Love the rose gold too! 👍🏻
I would love to be able to do this kind of work someday. You made it look so effortless!! But I guess that just comes from a lot of time and mistakes lol beautiful guns!!
Those are beautiful!! They gotta be in the $10K range right?
Your work and skills are of the most high; what a wonderful job you have. I wish I could be there to learn.
What resources do you recommend for learning how to build custom 1911s?
An apprenticeship is really the best way to learn. But that’s hard to find. If we ever get the free time, we may offer build classes.
A true masterpiece my good sir, bravo 🙌🏼
Music is okay.
Should be quitter though.
How does measuring the same with gauge in the slide tell you the truth measurement inside that slide?
Ok so how much does one of these cost? I am not obsessed and keep finding more expensive 2011's to own. I thought my 2 year infinity wait would be the "last" one. But I am thinking I need a Hayes Custom now. I will be reaching our shortly, hoping you can do some type of comp build!

Thank you. UA-cam does not like us to talk details. Contact us through our website or email us at info@hayescustomguns.com
What laser engraved are you using?
Waaaw, what a craftsmanship skills and great final products, these are not any normal guns, these is pass down generations antiques 😮
I have seen blade makers use coffee to make highly polished damascus really pop, would that work on something like this?
I tried coffee once, I don’t think it made any difference.
How many hours did it take to build?
It’s hard to say on a build like this. When I’m doing a full custom build, I don’t track hours. But a good estimate is around 30-40 hrs.
@@HayesCustomGuns Wow. So maybe 4 guns a month.
It turned out amazing. Maybe I can save up and get one.
Awesome video and beautiful work. Thanks!
You have a new subscriber Sir. Thank you!
If I may ask, how did you first get into this form of gunsmithing?, beautiful work btw.
Thank you.
Family tradition. My grandfather, Jim Clark, was one of the original 1911 gunsmiths.
This was sick nice work

I like the video, but the background music is a little bit distracting so I would bring your microphone voice volume up a little
I’m still waiting on y’all to trick out the RIA 10mm double stack. 😔 Beautiful pistols.
Stunning work. Man I regret not getting a double stack when I still lived in Free America (texas)
Amazing video and excellent craftsmanship thanks for sharing!
I liked it better all silver but holy shit brother! She’s a beaut 🤩
