Very informative video - nicely done! So cute when you were waiting for the camera to stop, and it didn't, so you said "the end." :) Thank you for the laugh and a lovely, helpful tutorial.
I am so glad that you are one of the tutor/instructors/artist...hahaha. So lovely! Clear and concise..Jackson Art Co and I always learn so much from your tutorials!
The Molotow masking pen is good for application in fine lines but the fluid is very difficult to remove compared to Windsor and Newton. I have had to scrape it off the paper with a stanley knife blade. I'm going back to using my ruling pen with Windsor and Newton fluid.
Nicely presented but I'm not sure why one would use the ruling pen as against a fine brush. Presumably the pen is easier to clean but I'm wondering if it is another item I really could use -- or not.
Glad you found the video useful! Masking fluid is not suitable for use in a technical pen such as Rapidograph. I would recommend using a ruling pen or a masking fluid applicator of some kind.
Hi, do you mean to mask off areas of card prior to stamping with a rubber stamp and ink? If I understood the question correctly, I imagine it could work but worth testing out on some scrap first. Let me know if I have misunderstood though! Thanks
Do you think masking fluid would be okay on canvas with watercolor ground? I'm worried that the ground would be removed with the masking fluid when removing it.
Nice video.Have a question though.Would this masking fluid or pen be good to use over top a pencil signature?I like to clean some signed posters that i have that involves soaking them in treated water, and i would like to protect the signatures.Do you have an opinion either way? Thanks.
Hi and thanks for watching. I would say it depends how resilient/absorbent the paper is. If it is absorbent I wouldn't advise using the masking fluid over the pencil signature. If it isn't then there shouldn't be a problem. Also it's best to only keep the fluid on the surface for the least amount of time possible, to avoid any damage when removing it again.
Btw ,forgot to ask are you selling any A1 or A2 sheets of synthetic paper to use with alcohol inks ? Just bought a big quantity of Ranger Tim Holsts alco ink and their paper is only up to A3 and very expensive.Any ideas ,I want t keep the saturation of colour so I can build up layers without the paper ripping ,thanks :) Sophie
A huge thankyou for showing me how to use a mapping pen with masking fluid. To be honest with you I had no idea there were maskng applicators with such an ultra fine nib ,next time I make a Jackson's order I'll get one .As a matter of interest are you purely a mail order company ? I used to go for over 25yrs to a very old art shop of the same name off Bold Street ,Liverpool 1 and it was run by a woman called Rose and they always stretched canvases and made frames for all the arty family members ,just wondered if your business is connected .Many thanks for that great video,Sophie
We have stores in Dalston and Putney in London, and also have a warehouse in Gloucester.... there is no connection with the shop in Liverpool. Thanks for watching and glad you found the video of use.
Ricardo Douglas I doubt it to be honest Ricardo unfortunately. It's only really for use with watercolour. You might be better off with a plastic stencil.
Was transfixed with the seriousness of the topic and leaning from it … and then burst out in a warm laugh at the adorable ending.

A really useful video delivered in a really natural way. A pleasure to watch and learn.
Having got Jacksons masking fluid for the first time and no idea how to use it, this video was informative from the start! Thankyou
Just what I have been looking for to describe the various ways of using masking fluid.Thank you for the information shared

Great little video. Loved the ending. Now I know how to use the ruling pen I've just received. Didn't have a clue what it was!
That's great! Glad you found the video helpful!!
Can you use this on Glass surfaces? Thank you
This was really useful!!!
Thank you for the comment, great to hear you found it useful.
All the best, the Jackson's team.

Thanks for this video, very clear and thorough.
Can I use masking fluid with rapidograph?
Glad you found the video useful!

Hi,
Thank you for the video, can I as how did you clean the Ruling Pen after use?
Thank you
If you wipe the nozzle with a paper towel and put the lid back on securely straight after use the ruling pen should not clog. Thanks for watching!
Thank you :)
Jackson's Art Supplies does this apply to the fine line applicator bottle or the ruling pen?
This is a long shot, but can this be used to mask off areas that have been stamped onto cardstock?

I'm worried that the ground would be removed with the masking fluid when removing it.
If the ground is properly dry the masking fluid will not remove it, it should be absolutely fine!
What is the advantage of using PERMANENT masking medium?
How long before the nib blocks up. Then it is impossible to clear.
Nice video.Have a question though.Would this masking fluid or pen be good to use over top a pencil signature?I like to clean some signed posters that i have that involves soaking them in treated water, and i would like to protect the signatures.Do you have an opinion either way? Thanks.

Thank you !!! So glad to see that Russian watercolors !!!
Your very informative. The End :)
Is the masque pen refillable? with maybe the Jackson's own brand?
You could try refilling the bottle but it could be a messy operation! but yes, the nib is attached to a screw top which can be removed.
My friend refilled it with latex, it worked really good. :-)
What a charming young woman! :-)
The End? LOL
Never had any success with masking fluid. For me it has always destroyed the paper.
Jesus, she just drop the brush in water bowl and leave it there....
