Lee and David being opposite each other is weirdly perfect. Props to the casting for season 1.

That's the game though, it's all about the bluff. "Oh they clearly sound like they're lying so it must be a lie... unless they want me to think it's a lie because it's actually true, unless they want me to think it's a lie so I think it's true when it actually is a lie" etc
@@gaz9411 It makes me wonder; are there any rules regarding making up lies around the truthful fact? Make it sound as ridiculous as possible to throw people off?
That would be a bit of a turn off. Of course this is all for entertainment purposes so I shouldn't care as long as it fulfills that purpose, but still :)
@@Dwishyyes. The rule is that they aren't allowed to lie about a true story to throw people off, except for Bob Mortimer 😂 coz well he's Bob Mortimer.
Lee always sounds like he's given up and is just being silly, even when he's telling the truth. That is his superpower 🦸♂️😂 and the way the show works after over a decade. David always sounds earnest and Lee always sounds like he's taking the mick, like the other comment says, the show is all about the bluff.
He plays the opposite side of the coin to most.
Where everyone usually tries to make it sound true, as you say, he tries to make everything sound so outlandish it can’t be.
Lee is on fire on this program. He is just ‘on’ with every comment anyone makes.

I remember hearing a rumor that Baby Spice was caught running naked in a hotel, but figured it was some made up story. But when she said it on the show it was kinda weird actually knowing what she was talking about. Im also american and this was like 20+ years and I dont really listen to her music, which makes it even weirder that I knew the story lol.

Never noticed how weird it is for one to always wake up before your morning alarm clock even on special occasions.
I always chalked it up to a bit of general anxiety, but maybe it isn't just a bit given the oddness and accuracy of it.
I am so shit at detecting lies, it's absurd. I'll be looking at their body language like "they're stammering on this and seem to have to think a lot when it should be as easy as breathing; MUST BE A LIE" and then it turns out it's true and I just don't know what to think anymore.
It's almost as if they're trying to deceive people!
A lot of them are comedians/actors so I wouldn't worry too much about your perception 😊
Some of them really know how to game it and others are absolutely horrible at lying. Look at Bob, he treats his true stories and his lies in exactly the same way and it makes them near impossible to tell apart.
Body language isn't a science so don't worry about it
points are awarded for fooling the other team so the actors in the groups try to believably mislead the opposition using body language and vocal delivery. the point isn't to tell outrageous stories but to fool the other team

I worked a very erratic schedule and almost always woke up before the alarm, though I would still set one. I didn’t want to disturb my wife.
I feel like it must be a sort of placebo effect? Like you’re very aware you need to wake up at that time so you wake up a few times during the night, but because it’s not the right time you just fall back asleep and you only stay awake when you notice it’s around the right time. Does that make sense?
I’ve been using the head banging method for waking up for years ….. and it works a treat.
I did it for years too. A friend told me to try it because I was a terrible riser. I would sleep through alarms. Don't know why it works, but it does.
You actually don't need to bang your head. I just repeat the time in my head a half dozen times or so and it works a treat

I used a similar method for years to wake up as Chris. Not banging my head but telling myself when I should wake. I hated the jarring effect of a clock. It always worked, though I set the alarm for about 15 min later just in case. I never had to be woken by the alarm.

Lee isn't good enough at math to work out how long it would take for a box of earl grey to be used up. He's assuming David only puts one earl grey per box of regular tea... Meaning he's going through 80 cups before placing another. No one would do that... if the earl grey came up you'd put another in, it's not taking 3 years even if he didn't have guests over to use up the box of earl grey, He's likely to have 2-3 earl grey's per box of regular tea.
I love how quick David was with that math. I knew he was wrong, but would've taken longer to explain why.

The pillow banging to wake up actually works though.....i do it when i need to be up early, i pat the pillow counting up to the time i wanna get up and it works believe it or not
You know the mental alarm clock actually works. I don't know how many times I've told myself mentally right before bed that I have to get up at a certain time, and if I tell myself several times, seriously I'll get up at that time.
I never set an alarm for probably 30 years, if I needed to get up at a certain time I just decided what time I needed to awaken and I did. I learned I could do it because I hated the sound of my alarm clock, and I’d wake up a few minutes before it went off so I didn’t have to hear it. I figured if I could wake up before the alarm, I could do it without, and I was right.

As a Canadian who's also hard-of-hearing I sometimes have to rely on YT's wacky closed-captions/subtitles to pick up on regional dialectical nuances and also the names of some of the occasional guests, and lemme tell ya that sometimes the context gets a little weird, lol.

How in the name of all the gods have so many people been so confused by David's silly maths/not realised he was taking the piss because he's fully are of the fact that most people aren't smart enough to call him on it; and the people who are smart enough got the joke.
Fractions refer to parts of a whole, not parts of a fraction.
