I think I have a cold, hence the sniffing.
The designers of this equipment certainly earned their money. It is complex and hardy enough to work day in and out without trouble for the most part.
It really is a beautiful piece of engineering and elegant in its simplicity when you really get to know it.
More good work. Love that you are not doing a how to video in the strictest sense of step by step instructions, much prefer the how it works style with useful pointers. Thank you for sharing.

Hello, good afternoon friend, I really liked your explanation, I can see that you understand the hydraulics of the Massey Ferguson, I have one of the 200 line and it has a knock that can only be heard when it reaches the desired height, that is, when it is lifting a heavy implement it only makes noise if you hear when it reaches the height defined by the interior lever, that is, if you set this lever to lift 40cm it lifts it up to there without making any noise and when it reaches that defined height it starts to make a beat, you get the idea that this is when it tries to balance the pressures to maintain that position exactly what you think it might be...Thanks from Portugal.

Considering the 1000's of times I've operated those levers never knew the "faff" there would be to fix one,but never known one fail!!When you think of 135's loading all day and every day through to 185's being flogged chisel ploughing for hours on end,everything seemed (looking back) abused,but that's how it was.
When you think of all the millions of tractors made in the 100 series and the hundreds of millions of hours use these things got, the design had plenty of testing around the world.

Just found your channel and love it, I cant believe there isnt a step by step rebuild of 100 series Massey Fergusons given the amount of people restoring them. You should do the video equivalent of the Haynes manual model with the emphasis on the technical info needed to rebuild them . Now that I have given you that gem of an idea I await the many ,many videos . Seriously though, Thanks for taking the time to make these videos as they are unbelieveably helpful to those attempting to repair tractors without a engineering background. I am currently going through your back catologue and picking up so much , once again thank you.

It's still pretty clever stuff. In a while when I get to the details of draft control, the feedback and control mechanism is just so well thought out.
Always wondered how the response lever worked or didn't work on one particular tractor 🤔 now we know just a lot o years too late ☹️ great video 👍

Next time you assemble parts could you please put your camera in a position so we can watch you work as it would be very interesting to see the parts going together instead of an explanation of what’s going to happen and then a shot of the assembled item, it would make great viewing.
When it comes to the adjustment part, I was going to get Lord Muck to film while I talk and adjust stuff if that would be useful.

on my 30 year old massey 390 the lift arms will lift up unevenly when I lift the mowing machine

Hi Clarence I am rebuilding a 178 lift cover for the 3rd time and im taking the settings from a classic tractor mag but not sure if im going wrong somewhere can you put up the setup video please or any other advice also head is yellow so must being changed at some point lift levers are old style up to back of tractor not up towards steering if u follow .

I'll get the top cover video up as soon as I can, but really there is no easy way to do it without MF272 from Churchill Tools at the very least. Most of the rest you can improvise, but MF272 is pretty much essential.

Hello, I have the same problem, the hydraulics will not stop at the set height, but go to the maximum. I checked the pump and it is working. does anyone know what the problem is?
Sounds like to control valve is sticking.
Where does the little return spring hook to? I see the hole can't tell what it's hook to inside there
It should hook between the position control cam and the position control lever.

Thanks for your video as. but you will also be able to explain some of the special tools for MF that are used in practical adjustments, for example (upper hammer spring resistance) special tools you know?! notr case removal reaction?! ~~one working side cover settings etc" ~~you understand that heating the transmission oil is also a separate technique. They are indisputable tractors with great superior features. Precedent should no system be the same

Have a question ...dont know if you want to answer ...But im working on a mf 165 6 speed ,,,,taking my pump out ...and it has another small pump bolted on top of the hyd pump ....and a hyd hose goes toward front of engine ..i had to take off to get the pump out .....What does it do ....Have seen any videos with this set up ...Thanks Kevin
That pump could be either for Multi-Power or for higher capacity hydraulics or both. The pipes going towards the front are from a low pressure port on the auxiliary pump to the Multi-Power spool valve if fitted and the auxiliary hydraulic filter in the left of the engine at the front and the cooler in front of the radiator.
@@ClarenceFudWeasel iTS only one 90 degree pipe and then its rubber ,,,,like a high pressure power steering hose ......Dont you have to split the tractor to get a multipower pump out ? and those are 12 speeds ? And it is gear driven off the main hyd pump
Very informative. I’m getting ready to rebuild the cover on my 135 Ferguson. I’m concerned about not getting a good look at the linkage before I take it apart. Most of it is hidden from view. Where did you find the pictures of the linkage you show? Some type of repair manual? They are the best I’ve seen so far. It would be a big help if I had those diagrams of the linkage when putting it back together. Thanks Gary
Does "Anyone" know what book the illustrations of the Draft and Position controls came out of?
I use the manufacturers service manual. I'll see if I can find a part number for it when I get back
