Still holding on to all the good memories this town gave me, hanging around town after school with friends or spending time at the British Council library. Rose Hill was the youngsters town for this and the annual 'sport intercollege' competition at the stadium. Its sad that history's fading away with some unpleasant concrete structures taking centre stage these days but I guess a new age is round the corner for a newer generation. So long dear Rose Hill, thanks for being there for us in the 80s.

You guys seem to know more about the history of Mauritius than us locals. There is so much to explore in Rose Hill, I never get tired of going there even if sometimes it's just to bask in nostalgia. I did not have the chance to attend school there but was often in the town for private tutoring; whenever I was free I would catch a bus to go there and shop for bargains in the stores along the main road. Got so many memories of the town such as the theatre plays in the Plaza, shopping for books at Le Cygne, etc.
The area around the market was very run down before construction of the light rail. Now it is underdoing some much needed regeneration, much neater and easier to navigate for pedestrians than it was a few years ago. I love the Central Way supermarket, which isn't shown in the video. I look forward to being able to travel to Rose Hill by light rail (it isn't yet in service where I live), will make everything so much easier.

It has become a great place and I think it will grow even more when the metro finishes construction. Thanks for the great comment.

You guys are good people... always with the very best shots of Rose Hill, the elevated tracks and its configuration wrt the post office, the roads, the bus station... and what I like is you have that skills to take the time to observe interesting things I've never noticed even if I passed there a thousand times like that stamp dispenser which is epic.
I've always fancied for an underground passageway crossing the Royal Rd in front of the British council (Bata Shop)... so many students, commuters, shoppers, use that and yet... still waiting
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for even if I was born and raised in Quatre Bornes, Rose Hill is my life

Nice to travel back there. Your video isn't triggering any memories of the sights from 1992 but I can almost taste the Dahl Puri (non piment sil vous plait!) and I can remember carcasses being hung outside the butcher shops which was a bit of a shock when i was 11, compared to butchers at home in Australia

We used to eat tuna samoussas after Yoga classes on Friday afternoons.
They were the best samoussas in the whole world.

Rose hill has such a special historic. It was considered the second capital of Mauritius for the longest time. Till the 2010s,Rose Hill was the most popular town for youngsters to hang out. We had A cinema Hall, very popular Malls( most famous one was Gallery Evershine) when hanging in the Mall was still cool, Plaza which was the biggest place to hangout ..youngsters playing music, skating, with its Library and by the night families come to relax and eat an ice cream. We also has the a dance club for teenagers which was called 'Inside'.Also has 'Rose hill Stadium'.Also had a place where merchants would sell much things, 'Arab Town' (which is closed now).Rose hill had a different vibe back then. Since many of these closed down they killed the town, specially for its youngs... its so sad. So you got the centre of rose hill, then u got the downtowns of Rose hill , like the neighbourhoods where most of the Rose Hilliens stay like Camp le vieux, trefles, stanley, Plaisance.... a taxi maroon rs 25 rupees and people go to their neighbourhoods.

I think ALL of the towns you have shown have had plenty enough traffic, lots of need for traffic lights. If you ask people to 'like', subscribe, comment and share it all brings attention to your channel and your videos will show up more as suggestions to others. That's why I try to comment at least once per video. Just trying to help you along.
