- 16102/ Rameswaram - Chennai Egmore Boat Mail Express with GOC WDG3A.
The Boat Mail Express, also known as the Indo-Ceylon Express, is a train operated by the Southern Railway unit of Indian Railways
History of the train : It initially ran between Chennai Egmore and Dhanushkodi ( metre gauge )and now runs between Chennai Egmore and Rameswaram via Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikudi, Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram. The train's name commemorates the 19th century mail service between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka (then Ceylon). It is one of the top most prestigious trains of Indian Railways and it has completed 100 years of service in 2014
Pamban Bridge is a railway bridge which connects the town of Rameswaram on Pamban Island to mainland India. Opened on 24 February 1914, it was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010. The rail bridge is, for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double-leaf bascule section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through.
The bridge spans a 2 km strait between the Indian mainland and Pamban island. The mainland end of the bridge is located at 9°16′56.70″N 79°11′20.12″E. The bridge is located in the world's second most corrosive environment after Florida, making its maintenance a challenging job. The location is also a cyclone-prone high wind velocity zone

Is Boat mail still in service? I thought that Once Dhanushkoti was engulfed by the sea the train service was stopped.
No, that service has been stopped. But this train is still called as Boat Mail :)
how many coaches in this train????

20 :)
Sir , please don't completely drop off your Vlogging plans as one of your recent vlog "Mission Humsafar" was simply the best. Hopefully you would reach the 100,000 subscribers mark very soon. Keep up the good work 👍.
You will see vlogs once in a while.. :)
Btw it's pronounced "Vlog" not "V-log"
Thanks for correcting :)
EMB will not fit on this bridge
Yes, for now. EMD's will not run on this bridge :)
It is too reaski
I think the trains don't run during heave monsoon times
you can only expect cyclones not heavy monsoons in this part of the country!
Trains will be stopped when the wind speed is more than prescribed limit :)
