They didn’t run out of ideas. In my opinion they want to remind us the older days of singapore to appreciate what we had. . We really came so far appreciate what they have done for ndp song. i think the remake is great! funny how people are asking for original songs yet dislike it when they do (complaining that they prefer the old songs better) we are never satisfied
Caroline But most of this song is not even the old ones, a bulk of it comes from 2015. If you’d like to argue that, then any other reason is because we dislike the lyrics of the new and original composes. Take for example the 2013 one. We want originality, and yet still sound great. If they do a remix they’d better do it well, personally I prefer the 2018 remix over this. Basically what we need is another “home” a song that would truly ring with us and relate to us, and have original lyrics. You may have a point though because people keep complaining, even the ndp songs from the 1980s people complain then now actually looking back at it it’s not bad. Maybe it’s because we like things that are old so we dislike the newer songs because we long for nostalgia, but in fact back then some of the songs we find ok were considered bad then. Or either that now the new songs are so bad they learned how to appreciate the older ones so now we complain about the new ones, and unless the new songs get any better and also be original we won’t stop complainant go!

Constructive criticism will be helpful along with affirmation of their efforts, but constant bashing and complaints won't help at all.
i like rap but not every song needs a rap and a paid crowd to be “modernised and remastered”, maybe what people really want is the simplicity that the earlier songs had. reach out for the stars, tomorrow’s here today, and the 2009 one are great examples of modern and good
I love this song and how it rangers from different singers, ages and ethnicity. A lot of diversity and it reminds us of what we started from! oh and 3:12 🚢🚢
