This is actually one of the best NDP songs I have ever heard. It made me emotional knowing that everyone of us here has been feeling tired from fighting this 'war' for more than a year already but we are all still moving on with our lives and be the best that we can be and I am never so proud of Singapore before. The DETAILS in this video, crazy ! The relatable bus rides, race neutral animations, durian on sushi conveyor, lady looks at kid at bus stop wondering how they feel, urban farming, zoo, towards a sustainable future, scientists, chefs, wokesalaryman, the hoisting bird cages, ns man helping wheelchair lady with umbrella, kid high five-ing construction worker, kallang wave, grab delivery in flight mode and the last scene watching sunset from the bus, all too familiar. :')
Not forgetting the last verse, just after the “garden growing towards the light”, we see the day break, with small businesses coming to life in the early hours (child awakening, grandma provision shop, prata stall, Kopitiam stall) and a young couple taking wedding shoot, signifying a new chapter.. before the resounding chorus. So much details to appreciate in this video! :)
Heard this song on the radio while driving and I loved it so much that I tried to remember the lyrics so that I can Google the title later, expecting it to be some western hit song... absolutely didn’t expect it to be our ndp song!!! Love the tune and lyrics, really pull on the heartstrings!

This song was so good that it most parts has carried on to a few other recent songs like Above the Stars (Youth Festival song which was released later the month after this song), Stronger Together (last year’s NDP song) and even ‘Your World’ from Your World in Mine
As an aspiring animator I am so impressed at how the animation involved went from just Lineart to coloured animation to a refined paint animatic and then it become more amazing 🤩 I like how so many artists come to put this music video to life I’m hoping to be come one of them someday

So many things to love in this mv. First singer Linying-lovely, soothing, quiet voice. Shabir, I can't believe I hear him for the first time. What a soulful voice, just stirs you in the deep. Lines looking so simple but similarly stirring - "we did it before, we'll do it again." "garden that grows towards the light" uplifting. The animations!!!!! *scream * The sushi belt with local hawker food, riding on the mrt (sets my imagination flyyyyyyyyyying) and then the kallang wave on that buidling (lethal combination of two fondest memories) ..that whole series is mind blowing creative.. The next animation where one steps off the boat and ran on the track, leaps over a hurdle, did a ballet turn, with a baby running to his dad... That whole sequence was beautiful. The transitions were smooth, and it gives a sense of so much space, reflecting how big the creator's mind is. All in, AMAZING production. As a middle aged, I can feel that surge of talent from younger Singaporeans in this proudction. Everything from filming, singing, song writing, animation.. Talent with so much heart. And multiple depiction of spatial vastness reflects the aspirations these youngsters have. I am so so so proud of you guys... *tears in my eyes*
Almost 50yo, heard many NDP songs. Many in the past 10-15years were cringeworthy and forgettable, except the one done by Ramli sarip, and this one. This is warm, and importantly showcase the next gen’s hopes and perspectives. Hope to hear more heartfelt reminders of our belonging to this island in the years ahead. Congrats to the team who did this. And please do it again in the years ahead. Happy advance National Day to fellow Singaporeans.
IMO - the song acknowledges our challenges, but is both hopeful and quietly confident. It recognizes our past and celebrates our present (through animation). It doesn't pretend to be cool or be something it's not, and it's genuine and heartfelt. It finally sounds like what an NDP song should be. (It's also easy and nice to sing, and the video is wonderfully creative and AMAZINGLY done.) This is easily the best NDP song of the past 10 years, and almost definitely even further back than that. It's the first song I've listened to on repeat and that I've actually wanted to sing since the late 2000's.
I'm a foreigner, but that doesn't stop me in falling in love with this song or this country over and over again. This song has all the elements that will make you so emotionally connect yourself with this current trying times. Kudos to the entire team who are behind this song 👏 👏👏 Let's always be united to fight against this pandemic and come out with flying colours. Anyone noticed that 1) We were actually seeing the little girl's dream, before she wakes up at 2:29 2) The animation slips back in an in animation once the girl 'meets' Linying outside her dream at the bus stop. It nicely goes with the lyric, "...we did it before, and we'll do it again..." How brilliant is that!
Into my twilight years but I am very heartened to see, hear and feel the rhythm of the youth in this NDP composition. It shows maturity in understanding that the past was not easy, but the future has a template for success that the youth know how to unlock. The traditional economic success no longer works but the more existential issues of relationships and sense of love for our families, friends and fellow Singaporeans are the cornerstones of rebranding our nation for the next century.
We Singapore had been through thick and thin since 1965. We will continue through many centuries here in Earth :) ❤️ Whatever happens, remember how Mr Lee and many other pioneers ministers build Singapore from scratch and nothing to Now. We had did it before and we will do it again. 💪🏻

Really like this NDP song very much! I think many Singaporeans would be able to relate to the song, young or old. Refreshingly different, meaningful, heartwarming & yet uniquely Singapore without being gimmicky and cheesy like most of the past NDP songs! Probably the best NDP song so far by! But of course, the MV is well produced and contributed to the song!
I find that NDP themes that don't mention Singapore by name are the ones that sound a lot better than the rest hahaha Anyway I'll join the bandwagon to say this is one of the best NDP songs from the past decade; the MV and arrangement were both amazingly made. Great job!!
This is by far the most original and meaningful lyrics for NDP. There is also a 4 different languages cover version which is a good show case of Singapore multi cultural society.
Anyone noticed the song started from morning (upbeat music) till evening and when Shabir voice came out for the evening segment it became very soft and soothing like a lullaby to enter into the night.
Actually it started from around mid-day, then sunset when we reach the CBD scene, and night time during Shye's second line, then sunrise, the kid wakes up, then Shabir's voice, and the birds start singing and they prepare to open the shops....midday....and then zoom right to sunset again. lol

The voices, lyrics, music arrangement, video, animation, are just so beautifully done. It hit a chord so strong that I actually cried hearing this heartwarming and hopeful song. Though it is still tough now, we are definitely on the road towards the light.

The sushi belt with local hawker food, riding on the mrt (sets my imagination flyyyyyyyyyying) and then the kallang wave on that buidling (lethal combination of two fondest memories) ..that whole series is mind blowing creative..
The next animation where one steps off the boat and ran on the track, leaps over a hurdle, did a ballet turn, with a baby running to his dad... That whole sequence was beautiful. The transitions were smooth, and it gives a sense of so much space, reflecting how big the creator's mind is.
All in, AMAZING production. As a middle aged, I can feel that surge of talent from younger Singaporeans in this proudction. Everything from filming, singing, song writing, animation.. Talent with so much heart. And multiple depiction of spatial vastness reflects the aspirations these youngsters have. I am so so so proud of you guys... *tears in my eyes*

Almost 50yo, heard many NDP songs. Many in the past 10-15years were cringeworthy and forgettable, except the one done by Ramli sarip, and this one. This is warm, and importantly showcase the next gen’s hopes and perspectives. Hope to hear more heartfelt reminders of our belonging to this island in the years ahead. Congrats to the team who did this. And please do it again in the years ahead. Happy advance National Day to fellow Singaporeans.

IMO - the song acknowledges our challenges, but is both hopeful and quietly confident. It recognizes our past and celebrates our present (through animation). It doesn't pretend to be cool or be something it's not, and it's genuine and heartfelt. It finally sounds like what an NDP song should be. (It's also easy and nice to sing, and the video is wonderfully creative and AMAZINGLY done.)
This is easily the best NDP song of the past 10 years, and almost definitely even further back than that. It's the first song I've listened to on repeat and that I've actually wanted to sing since the late 2000's.
I'm honestly jealous of Singapore. Fr, all the best, Singapore! From your neighbor, 🇵🇭.

Into my twilight years but I am very heartened to see, hear and feel the rhythm of the youth in this NDP composition. It shows maturity in understanding that the past was not easy, but the future has a template for success that the youth know how to unlock. The traditional economic success no longer works but the more existential issues of relationships and sense of love for our families, friends and fellow Singaporeans are the cornerstones of rebranding our nation for the next century.

Really like this NDP song very much! I think many Singaporeans would be able to relate to the song, young or old. Refreshingly different, meaningful, heartwarming & yet uniquely Singapore without being gimmicky and cheesy like most of the past NDP songs! Probably the best NDP song so far by! But of course, the MV is well produced and contributed to the song!
I find that NDP themes that don't mention Singapore by name are the ones that sound a lot better than the rest hahaha
Anyway I'll join the bandwagon to say this is one of the best NDP songs from the past decade; the MV and arrangement were both amazingly made. Great job!!

Anyone noticed the song started from morning (upbeat music) till evening and when Shabir voice came out for the evening segment it became very soft and soothing like a lullaby to enter into the night.

This is IMHO the best NDP song since the last decade, probably since Kit Chan's Home NDP Song . And i won't be ashamed to say that this song is gonna be on my playlist , a first for a NDP song. Keep up the great job for the whole team who created, animated and produced this touching song.
After so mamy years, they finally managed to invoke the feeling of nostalgia i once had. Brings me back to my primary school days where we sat in assembly hall while singing NDP Songs. Well done! They finally made something really good after 2012. 😭 i really love this one

After Kit Chan's Home, there was a dry spell. Finally a nation's song worthy to be sung. Kudos to the whole team for putting this together. The melody is catchy, lyrics awesome. The singers' voice a delight to the ears. Inspirational.

I think "Where I belong" is quite good.
The voices, lyrics, music arrangement, video, animation, are just so beautifully done. It hit a chord so strong that I actually cried hearing this heartwarming and hopeful song. Though it is still tough now, we are definitely on the road towards the light.
