- Masking Sheet Stamping Techniques
The Lavinia Masking Sheets have many uses in the world of papercraft. Today, Tracey demonstrates how they can be utilised to create a nice crisp, clean stamped image, free from contamination by the background colours.
The technique works a treat with highly detailed stamps, such as the magnificent Forest Cap Toadstool, featured here in the finished card.
More of our recent daily demos can be found on our videos page, along with links to all the products used in each of the featured projects... laviniastamps.....

A pretty card,,,xxx 🌷💗
Beautiful 👀👀👀
EXCELLENT
💚
Very nice! I would like to try that masking technique. I appreciate how you used your stencil and brush. Decades ago, I was stenciling borders on my walls just so. It takes a light touch.
💚🧚♀️
Hey Tracy, it turned out so beautiful and magical! I love your pictures and I'm looking forward to making it.
Only criticism today I found the camera work not quite so happy. The sideways camera angle looks interesting but was not very helpful for me for the moment of colouring the mushroom. I like to see exactly (from above) how you work and the colours react.
Still, a nice video of good quality and it inspired me. Thank you very much❣️
Thank you for your comment. I will pass your comment on. Noni, Lavinia Stamps
Brilliant....may I ask do you ever stamp the image onto the cardstock first and then cover that with the mask.....?....thanks Jane North Wales 💜
Hi Jane, thank you for your comment! Yes, Tracey sometimes stamps the image first but it is completely personal preference. I hope this helps. Noni, Lavinia Stamps
Lovely tutorial, can't seem to find the stamp used though

@@LaviniaStampsVideos thank you 😊
I think this is the first time I’ve seen the mask put down first ! Usually people stamp the main image then cover it was it easier this way ?
Hi Christine, I think Tracey was trying a different way of using the masking sheet to see what results she achieved 🧚♀️
Magnifique 😍
Thank you! Noni, Lavinia Stamps
Hello Tracy, I want to know why you never post or say exactly what stamps you are using? Especially hen you don’t hav all of your stamps. I think there are a lot of people who tune in would like to know. Your very talented and do a great job. It’s hat you say what you are using.
THANKS🌻
Hi Lynne, thank you for your feedback and I will pass it onto Tracey. The products that are used in all tutorials are linked underneath the video. Noni, Lavinia Stamps
What other stamps did you use. What water color pencils do you use
Hi Robin - Thank you for your question. Hello, Beautiful card. I have a question. The masking - Is it paper or a kind of plastik? kan it be reused other times?
Hi, the masking sheets are similar to a removable masking tape. They can be reused several times but will need cutting again at some point. I hope this helps. Noni, Lavinia Stamps
@@LaviniaStampsVideos Thank you. I was for a moment hoping that it was plastic so it had a longer 'life-time' than the paper masking I am used to :-D
I thought one should stamp the image first, then mask it and do the background. My concern is to mess up when stamping the big image and then mess it up
What ink did you use on the mask it sheet ….fabulous card as always Tracey ….
Sylvie x
Hi Sylvie, Tracey uses Versafine Clair to stamp on the masking sheets. Noni, Lavinia Stamps 🧚♀️
what kind of pens are that? What brand> That metalic one?
Hi Marieke, here is the link for the products list used in this tutorial. laviniastamps.com/masking-sheet-stamping-techniques/
I hope this helps. Noni, Lavinia Stamps
If you stamp your image first on the card then place the mask over the top then do the foliage you want have to worry about the positioning of your stamp. That’s the way I do it you will still have the same result but it’s easier that trying to stamp the image later
That’s how I do it too Jan
@@jackiethomas889 thank you for your reply. I love using Lavinia stamps, I live in Australia so sometimes I have to be patient when I order my stamps they take a while to get here.
Hello again Jan. I’m in Australia too, Canberra. It does take forever for us to get our goodies doesn’t it although I’m lucky enough to have a local craft store that stocks Lavinia products.
It’s lovely Tracey but I’m unclear as to why you don’t stamp your image on the card first and then adhere your mask over the top of it?
Hi Lesley. Theoretically you could use the masking sheets either way, it's personal choice. The masking sheets will stick over the top of DRY stamped work. I hope that helps. 🙂Emma-Jo from Lavinia Stamps🧚♀️
Yes it looks beautiful but please maybe just some dies would be great. I am rubbish at fussy cutting.
