A friend and I were booting around the city (we’d come in from the country to see you) and on the side street next to the venue , when you popped out of the only door in the vast brick wall with your body guard. We behaved like fools ! Star struck and unable to speak properly. Ha ! Your body guard was very sweet and saw that we were smitten with you. I know he found it cute - or something like it. I was 17 , my friend early 20s. Your face erupted in a smile that slayed us both and you said “Good evening, ladies !” . I felt like SUCH an idiot ! But I appreciated very much your warm generosity and remember it like yesterday. Or better. Thank You !

The first song I've ever heard from Joan was '"Gave it a try" back in 1972. At that time I was working as a DJ in a Discotheque to earn some money as a student of business. And it was a young beautiful lady from Norway, now my wife since 50 years, who had asked me for that song, i've never gave any greater attention before, because in my opinion he was not danceable. And to make along story short, Kristine introduced me to Joan's music and since then i love it and as an Collector never missed an album release. Now nearly 50 years later we're sittin on our porch in the sunday morning sun with a teapot of green tea, both listening to Joan's new "Consequences" album for the umpteenth time. Our both favorite song is 'Already there', because the lyrics describe so perfectly my wife's situation long before my love for her came to me. I've never thought, that there would ever be written a song about by an artist. But with 'Already there' Joan made it possible, that we two old people (75 & 72 years) looking back in time with a big smile and being god so grateful for the luck of love we still have after such long time. I read with sadness that your brother Tony has passed away. I remember seeing him on television quite some years ago. God bless you and Tony.
So many artists are focused on the wrong things due to the tremendous pressures in the business. Success is NEVER how many clicks or downloads someone gets. This business and many others are a product of popularity and not so much substance. I just found out about Joan and that is tragic because I am a huge fan of many genres of music and have been for over 40 years. Joan is better than many of the “Stars” and is an absolute pleasure to listen to. We should all be so lucky to leave such a legacy behind. Thank you for your special gift to us all Joan.

I am 30 years old (31 in July 2021) and it was in 2007 at the age of 17 when I first discovered Joan Armatrading's music after seeing her perform 'A Woman In Love' on the Paul O'Grady Show after that I went out and bought her 2007 album 'Into The Blues' I also bought her 2018 album 'Not Too Far Away' and I will definitely be buying her 2021 album 'Consequences'.
Well I am 29 going on 30 in August! I got into Joan, through her Walk Under Ladders album from 1981 that was in our house, from the age of 7 or 8 this was. So have been in to Joan for over 20 years now and know every single album, (most of which are faultless!).
