Joan is a wonderment of music. I love the song Call Me Names, the lyrics are amazing. Her songwriting and performance is amazing. She's almost too good for the flash in the pan music industry. Joan's music will live forever.
Absolutely. Joan knows Unity and I adore her reminders ... I saw her personal documentary on VHS when I was 10 ... She's the most unselfish strong headed lady as far as folk music goes.
Joan Armatrading, one of the most unasuming great performers through time and has stayed beautiful all her life. Love you Joan, wish I had seen you in concert.
Joan, thank you so much for your work! I write from St. Petersburg, (which is in Russia). Your atmosphere and sensual, emotional approach completely shows you in music - you can see that you are a truly good person with a pure soul! Moreover, there are such people, but you are among those who live on this wave of good. And, God, how do you charge for good deeds! Right now I want to hug loved ones and tell someone kind words, such as you! The huge to you thanks!
I find that the emotional intensity of her voice that characterized recordings like "Down to zero" is reduced in this more recent song. Maybe this is due to the streamlined pop sound post-processing, but her voice sounds "flatter" here. Maybe, though, it is a sign of ageing, too.
Heard this beautiful song on radio4 this afternoon and was reminded of a studio in Clapham, where I used to listen to her music play from behind the closed studio door. Admiring the greats sounds from inside. I came to listen again.. Great song writer, poetic.
I’ve just heard this song for the first time, and love it. Watched a tv programme about her tonight and this came on. Stopped me in my tracks as I’d put it on while I was doing other stuff. Search this out so I can hear it again,
Hi, Joan, I went to a mall today and caught your "Loving what you hate" super song on the air. So, as soon as I arrived home, I searched for it. I loved it. After that, I clicked on "Starlight", and then this one: "I Like It When We're Together". THANK YOUR FOR YOUR WONDERFULL WORK!!! Particularly this one, inspired me quite deeply. I didn't know about your existance, but Thank you so much for your existance and your work!!! Cheers from Mexico City!!!
Shame for myself. I've known about her since the 1980s but time does catch up and never too late. It's 2021 now, I'll be listening to much more of her beautiful stuff that I should have done many of years ago. But better now than never.
Had a conversation last night with Mom about Joan Armatrading and Tracy Chapman...so....i woke up this morning and started to play songs of both artistes, and shared them. Ms. Joan Amatrading, i have never seen or heard a combination between you and Tracy Chapman.
beautiful joan is amazing writer just adore everything about her lyrics she knows the soul and the heart better than any other female singers, i have listened to her since i was a teenager with a vinyl LP in my bedroom her first album
Joan, that is such a beautiful song. I first discovered you after watching the Wild Geese film in the late 80s and being blown away by your title track. Saw you perform this song on the Graham Norton show and was absolutely blown away (again!!). Please Please Please keep writing and performing :o)
It's like she's come full circle. Sounds a lot like the earlier Joan Armatrading -- the one who could write poignant songs and rock out too. This is a classy lady with marvelous music. She is in a class of her own. I love this woman and what she does with her music.
For almost 40 years I've had a secret girlfriend remotely ... She's a singer and she can still flick the stiff legs and the blanket under me with her voice and sensitive music. A few years ago I saw her in Odense, DK. A gig I wanted to see, even if I had to chop of my both armes and legs to get there. What a joy! Now she is out with a new album, which will definitely be on my shelf at my place ... Love ya Joan! Regards from DK
From the 70s until now Joan has been consistently great.
Another of so many wonderful Joan Armatrading tracks through the years, words & music melt together with that classic voice, still sounding so good!
No gimmicks here, just pure talent oozing and touching the core of your heart. And that smile...
Joan is a wonderment of music. I love the song Call Me Names, the lyrics are amazing. Her songwriting and performance is amazing. She's almost too good for the flash in the pan music industry. Joan's music will live forever.
Agreed. Seen her twice ib concert, a one-woman force of nature. As the vampire in "Only Lovers Left Alive" said "This chick is too good to be famous"
Absolutely. Joan knows Unity and I adore her reminders ... I saw her personal documentary on VHS when I was 10 ... She's the most unselfish strong headed lady as far as folk music goes.
Pure class Joan everything you sing and write from heart stunning
Crikey, yet another simple but great song from this super talented woman.
Icon.
Joan Armatrading, one of the most unasuming great performers through time and has stayed beautiful all her life. Love you Joan, wish I had seen you in concert.
Joan, what an expressive voice you have. So recognizable and mesmerizing, a joy to hear again (and again, and again).
This woman is a true artist of the soul
Truly amazing voice
Always makes me smile from the inside out

Saw you on the Graham Norton show last Thursday. I loved the song instantly and have played it over and over.
This was a great and welcome Joan comeback! At least she wasn't told what album to release this time around, like her last three!
I so so so love Joan Armatrading and her voice, her presence. She's so cool. She's from the 80s, where I remember her. Love it!

New, but such an authentic reflection of songs of the past.
Oh, dear Joan. You've been with me ever since your show at Rockpalast Festival at Grugahalle in the early eighties. ❤️ from Cornettoleo
