I (184cm,68kg,bodybuilder) was lessoned in March in front of a supermarket by such a tiny chic.There was a brawl concerning a trolley with an about 40 year old woman with thick ugly specs. Since she only was 150 cm, she was an easy push and I pressed her 2 meters back with my hands on her shoulders. Then she enclosed my right wrist, a short aching,she went aside and I tumbled to the ground in my full black leathers. On the ground, I realised a sprain in my right arm making it useless for further combat.The specs lady saw my surprise and stretched from right to left over my chest, snatching for my left arm poising it in an awkward and helpless position I never saw before. When I flushed she said:"Guess you never exspected me to know the Aikido, sweetface". But I doubt now whether it is allowed to apply such things in public.
Honestly, I can't see what is gained from this, since we have known for a long time that mixing together is the best way to grow in the realities, whether social or professional. Now imagine in Aikido that according to O SENSEI taught the union between ALL THINGS, imagine about men and women. In my OPINION this is a setback. Sorry for the frankness!
You are right bro!! I also practice aikido here in India but we have both men and women. Apart from what O'Sensei envisioned, it doesn't make much sense to teach a martial art for women's self-defence if they are only going to practice with other women and never face a realistic attack from a stronger man. It will not give them the confidence to deal with a real attack!!
it was an honest frankness devoid from usual youtube trashing haha. i also did think like this. but there are deep differences between certain groups how they learn and how they practise aikido. Kids, people over 50, men, women. To train kids and elderly people together just doesnt do it. They are on different planets. Women and men can train perfectly well together, YET when a female trains (occasionally) in an all female class with female instructor (and not a male instructor like in this clip.) she greatly benefits and learns from that. lastly, women and girls can feel more at ease in an all female class. so, its up to the females, not to us.

aikido is legal, those which you punch or kick people is illigal, becuz its violance.
