The vocals sound very professional and pop: compressed, high in energy, nice pressure, little fried in a good way! You did a great job, my friend, thanks for the video. You deserve more subs!
Thanks so much man 👊🏽. So glad you’re finding this valuable. I’ve been at the producing / writing / mixing thing for a good bit now, but I’m still only half a year into the education and content side. So I’ll keep on bringing the goods and not slowing down anytime soon!
I can say I usually have so much trouble with vocals for some reason. I can tune instruments all day and get them done in a minute. But vocals I feel like there is so much going on that I kind of feels a little overwhelming.
I’m a big believer in getting “mixed” sounding vocals from the moment you track them. You can do that by having a vocal template pre-set. I talk about it more in this video, and also demonstrate it while cutting vocals with an artist: ua-cam.com/video/AvcX8Z48f8Y/v-deo.htmlsi=9We-KV5hWZ3SdkhG
So I'm sitting in my room with my wee song and a vocal with De-essr on it. It's too loud here and lost there - Thinking, What's next then? So I find your video.... You get to the advanced part - running more plugins than my computer can even open and I think, aaaach forget it! LOL. I'm never gonna get to that quality. :(
Ahhh man can I relate to this. I’ve def had my years worth of CPU limitations. One tip is to freeze and commit as much as possible. Also, I have a video dropping tomorrow morning that I think will come in handy for you 👀👊🏽👊🏽
I typically roll with 48k/24 bit, sometimes 16 bit. And I have a loaded Mac Studio that can handle whatever processing I need. For what I’m doing, I find that gives me what I need, but I’m sure someone much smarter than me can tell me why I should be rolling with 96k!
Depends on the tools you have at hand. The biggest apparent issue with mixing at a lower sample rate would be with "foldback" distortion on saturators, EQ, and compressors that add color. Any plugin with an oversampling feature internally multiplies the sample rate to avoid foldback, so you may not necessary need to mix at a higher sample rate. If you want to learn more, check out Dan Worrall's video "Samplerates: the higher the better, right?" ... great resource. I will say, I always TRACK at 96KHz because it allows me to get much lower latency while monitoring with compression plugins (2-6ms vs 6-13ms at 48KHz).
don't "go" buy anything. You all have what you need in most any daw to do good work. It is more the work and performances. No gear will help that. Start at the source. not at the plugin.
For sure! While some of the gear and plugins out there are nice and do useful things, skill and experience >>> gear and plugins 10000000% of the time. Thanks for the comment!
You don’t have to, but I find spreading the love across a few compressors can be a more natural sound. Sometimes if you overcompress with one plugin it can sound pinched and small. It’s all about what works for you and serves the song though - there’s no rules!!
Most songs these days are the whole session in one. Back when I had CPU limitations earlier on I would mix to the two track. But most good computers now can handle unlimited tracks and plugins
I hope this video brought you tons of value! To get the free vocal mixing cheat sheet, go to my website here 👊👊: christianhale.co/freeresources/
Can't believe you don't have more subs! Your teaching style makes so much more sense than a lot of youtubers that have way more subscribers.
Thanks for the kind words. I’ve been at the music game for awhile, but still pretty new to UA-cam. I have more new videos coming soon!

Questionable songwriters tho!

I can completely relate to this! I was there several years ago. I hope this video gives you some good tips to help with this!

Great mix video! What song is this? Thanks!
Thanks so much! It’s an unreleased (but I think soon to be released) song by my good buddy Eddie from The Score / Unroyal
Should I mix the vocals in the production stage of the beat? or should the beat be in wav file alrd and mix it with the vocals?

I bought a masterclass from Ryan Tedder. He does the Lod Alge plugin with his Telefunkin
That’s what I thought! Thanks for confirming

@@christianhaleofficial Looking forward to it. Great stuff. BTW, that song sounded great. Where can I listen to it? TIA.
@@C-MAGsthanks! It’s not out officially, but was written with my good buddy Eddie of The Score & Unroyal
@@christianhaleofficial It's not even my kinda thing but, it sounded so good that I just wanted to give my ears a wee treat.
What is your opinion on sample rate and mixing vocals? Should everyone mix vocals on 96k it possible (CPU).

Also be a phree m@son or a J
Do you have a copy of the lead vocal or you just have an aux?
i dont understand, why shouldn't i rely on just one compressor? why did you use so many?

In your mixing session, do you mix to a 2track or music stems?

Give free gear and plugins please
I gotchu! ua-cam.com/video/MkJCBiFSZYw/v-deo.htmlsi=J65cxg9fXDljLA6n
this is for apple why not do one for windows with Fl studio
I work in protools, but these concepts should apply in any DAW! Pretty much all of these plugins can work in FL studio
RT usa esa cadena para grabar jajaja con un micro de 10.000 $ haha
Hah! That’s what I thought! Thanks for confirming
@@christianhaleofficial Acabo de encontrar tus videos! Están increíbles
