I think it’s like any other college class where there’s a heavy emphasis on words rather than numbers/science concepts. I would use a recording app on your phone if you want to listen back to it later and write out the notes, or just follow the methods on that link when writing notes.

So my current major is Finance and im still doing my lower division courses.
Here is the thing; I hate enginering, I hate science, I hate to become a lawyer. The only thing that was do-able for me to work on was to major in Accounting or Finance. The only reason why I chose this major was because I wanted a stable job with good income. However, I don't even like Finance/Accounting but its do-able. Thing is I constantly hear how people are working over 100 hours a week with this job.
Marketing on the other hand, and lets be real here yeah? Marketing is easy. I had a marketing class and it's all theory and generalities. Obviously you get data to back it up, but I found it very easy to make marketing audits and etcs, and its why I had the highest grade in the class.
Now; I like easy work. So should I change my major from Accounting/Finance to Marketing? Will marketing give me a stable job?
How far are you in your major? My college readiness class i took in community college gave a tip like, “you will accumulate alot of debt if you change your major later rather than earlier.” But just do it if it makes you happy 😊☺️ you dont want a major where you are unhappy to work in! 😮

Can you talk about marketing vs management ? I’m having a hard time deciding what to choose and if you have any insight then I would be very thankful.
Yes of course!! In my eyes (there will also be other answers too), marketing focuses on the company and the customers while management is more company and stakeholders within the company (employees, executive teams, stockholders). They do overlap in many many areas but at the end of the day marketing will be responsible for how messaging is delivered and management on how meeting the company is meeting market demands. This is super simplified but hope it helps!

You have to take a variety of classes for marketing major like economics, accounting, other business classes and then your marketing classes.
Not sure how I didnt see this before!! BUT it's very much both. That's why Marketing to me is so cool because it joins so many different parts together. If you're creative, marketing is for you too. If you're more into finance, marketing is for you too. Everyone has a place as long as there is a passion.

It’s just an option for people! Definitely don’t need to do social media to do marketing. There’s a ton of other things you can do as well. It is very popular and you’ll see it a lot because it’s the new thing. It’s important to be aware of the functions of social media and how it plays a key role in society but definitely don’t need to specifically work in social media.

I am hoping to get a marketing degree soon but I don't like the math (business stats).. I heard it's hard. Who knows how true this is?
Every calculation or statistic in uni for marketing degree is quite basic and easy... Im a science major in highschool, then change to pure social science like geography, history in pre university.. And now im taking marketing degree... I never learn economy, accounting, statistic, finance nor any of the business thing.. But i got A for all of those subject because it just the basic....
im thinking about obtaining my associates degree and i am now leaning towards marketing due to the fact that in is huge right now and will keep on getting bigger and bigger. I was thinking about business management or business administration before but now i am unsure really? any advice anyone or opinions?
This is great! honestly I think either is really good because both are around the same field. I would say that management might be good on a resume if you want a leadership role down the road.

@@DK-ee6kv Well a lot of successful self owned businesses are more self-taught and learned over time but marketing will connect you with the right people and you will dive into what makes projects successful and not. I personally think majoring in marketing and then doing some self teaching, plus internships is the perfect package to success and might be something that could work for you too

If you major in PR your study is heavily on rhetoric because your tool is communication to represent the brand in a positive light and in marketing your learning ways to increase revenue through marketing strategies that range from a number of things [qualitative to quantitative data]. In an organization, two things could happen: 1) I'd be ideal that the marketing team and the PR team are working closely together that it is obvious that certain statements are just taken care of by the PR group but also 2) marketing groups can request the PR team to give a statement that aims at a certain market for a certain reason. #2 is really not ideal since PR is a part of the promotion process for a marketing specialist. I know this is kinda confusing since they overlap on assignment. Hope this kinda helps!

I 100% think that advertising and communication design might be better because my international marketing class devoted more so on laws abroad, culture differences, market penetration into those countries due to the laws. It was not what I expected. It might also help to see what professor teaches these classes. Check the school catalog for professor names at your school and use rate my professor to check on ratings! :)

I’m in highschool and I want to major in marketing. My question is, should I take the AP bio test? If I end up getting a high score on it, will it even be useful if I plan on majoring in marketing?
I have heard that taking AP tests do help but no so much in marketing specifically but by not having to take as many classes/courses in college but it doesn't hurt you at all if you don't take it in terms of Marketing. I would just do it to have that added value. Like any major you should focus on studying hard, getting good grades, and networking across the board. Hope this helps!

I want to major in marketing but am really afraid of the accounting classes. I took a basic intro accounting class last semester and had to drop it bc it was really hard for me :( but I’m gonna try it again next semester. Any tips to help me succeed the second time around?
accounting was also super tough for me and I literally spent most of my time practicing and studying. I made sure that the class was my priority but still rewarded myself when I could. I’d say keep contact with your professor the entire time and let them know you struggle, go to office hours, study a lot, get help from the tutoring center and kick butt!
Hey Amy! I've worked in marketing for five years. I graduated with a PR degree and a minor in Marketing to avoid math. I've never worked a day in PR, and all of my jobs have been in the marketing field. My advice is to try accounting one time and give it everything you have (office hours, study sessions, etc.) If you still need to drop it, try doing PR with a marketing minor. This way, you get to choose the courses you want to take from marketing and avoid accounting. In school, they make it seem like PR and marketing are worlds apart, but they work hand in hand. Also, doing a major and a minor gives you a competitive edge in the interview process. I knew marketing concepts, and I could write a press release. That made me valuable to marketing employers. Side note: I've NEVER used accounting math in my marketing positions. If you understand excel and understand what they numbers are telling you, you'll be fine!

does not sound stupid at all! You can have multiple majors and minors but you might take more classes. You can major in Human Sciences and minor in Marketing or major in marketing and minor in human sciences or you could double major in human sciences and marketing. Just more classes

Usually up to Calculus I/Business Calculus, with Statistics. Statistics is the one you really want to make sure you learn and understand even after the course ends.

Im not the best at math but I think what got me through it is adapting to each professors teaching method and when that didn't work I would teach myself and get as much help as I could (whether online or by school tutors). The key here I think is to never give up. Be good at being a student and you'll be good for anything.

Pretty basic level stuff, the only math I needed to use was statistics really, nothing like calculus.

director of digital marketing for a dental technology company....you don't need a degree, don't waste your money, start working for start ups and build a small agency on the side. Unless you wanna be a grunt for the next ten years to pay off your loans and have no hardcore experience. Marketing is brutal. I understand that this video is explaining the traditional way, but marketing is anything but traditional these days. I would never hire a marketing major for marketing tasks, I would outsource to the Philippines for $100 a week and they will do the job better. You have to be EXTREMELY intelligent and a natural if you want to make 100k by the time your 26 in this field. Just a heads up.
Cool job! But I’d say there’s a lot of employers looking at students with degrees in marketing because there is a lot more than just digital marketing. Also not everyone has loans. A degree is important and I’d never not encourage someone not to persue one. It’s a title that won’t ever go away.
