Great job you 2 ! I got a Heil headset as well . The Pro 6 micro single ear one. Works great . We may see northern lights in NY from that G4 storm. Did make a bunch of QSB . 11 meter CB was the same way . Some noise on bands but not as bad as outher days. Sometimes them solar storms open up 6 meters . 73
If you're going to have a dramatic intro, I feel its always best to go with the overdramatic intro. Great video if a clearly great time, Mike! If I ever find myself in your neck of the woods, I'm definitely going to make you and Jeff bring me out to that island for an activation. What a great place!
Thanks for watching! There have now been 14 activations and Jeff has 7 of them. But that's a little misleading because when he's gone, he sometimes brings others. There's probably only been around 10 or less trips to activate the island, with some of them involving multiple operators at the same time.
I was just wondering it seems like a isolated location and definitely hard to get to without the proper transportation Glad to see a rare activation thanks for the video
That makes sense. The DEC webpage refers to it as, “the smallest State Park in New York,” so that’s what I used. Thanks for watching and we were glad to get you on 40m!
Sometimes I'll check, if I'm undecided on what antenna I might want to use or bands I might want to try. But I don't let band conditions get in the way. When I have the time, I'll play radio, no matter how easy or hard it is.
Thanks gentlemen. It was great hearing you again.

Our pleasure! The bands and weather were amazing for us.
Great activation. Thanks for the video!
You're welcome! It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to go back again sometime.
Sweet!
It was so much fun. And Jeff is an awesome guy who made it all possible.

Thanks, Robert! We had a great time. I got to see the northern lights and hope you did too.

Well make it happen! It’s one of many amazing places I’ve discover thanks to POTA.
Wow😊
Thanks!!
Peaceful
It really is. I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to tag along with Jeff and go there.
How many activations have been made there? Great job guys on the POTA thanks for the video!

@@jamesknotts1546 The water is very shallow around the island, so a kayak or small inflatable boat like we used are really the only way to get there.
We shall always remember this as the day we didn’t meet Captain Jack Sparrow! #leastfearsomelookingpiratesever! But the music was a good lead.
LOL
Small correction: The island is not the smallest state park, it is the smallest WMA in NY.

@@MikeN2MAK Not everything you read on the internet is true ;)
I don’t usually know what the band conditions are until I activate

@@MikeN2MAKI usually just have one day a week to activate a park so I give it a try and just see what happens
@@jamesknotts1546 that's often the case for me too.
😮
Yeah, it was pretty awesome.
