i played this game fully, without learning anything about the bad stuff from the devs, not even knowing there was bad decision, and i was suprised by the voice acting, even if shadow's vc is a little goofy, looking at the way you are been, i had a good time with the game on itself.
It's worth mentioning that the devs didn't make the physics or controls, they used a pre-existing framework (I think called infinity engine) for UE4 and made levels/bosses around that. Exception being the plane levels and other non-Sonic controls
We know that they used a pre existing engine but we don't know to what extent they did alterations to it. I've seen people say they haven't modified it but haven't actually demonstrated that.
@@SendoDX Here's the thing. There weren't any paywalls for Sonic Omens. Donations are optional. If players thought asking for donations is bad then they could've just NOT donate any money. I mean, UA-camrs have been making content based on established IPs for many years, and yet it's apparently perfectly acceptable for them to ask for donations. I don't see why a fan game dev can't ask for donations too. They aren't selling the game for money so they aren't profiting out of Sega's IP. While I don't recommend asking for donations, I don't think Sonic Omens's devs did anything wrong by doing just that. The reason why other fans hated Omens's devs donation practices is that they were afraid Sega will notice Sonic fans are taking advantage over their generosity regarding fan game development, and might cause Sega to start DMCAing Sonic fan game projects. Of course I can understand that. Still, looking at Omens alone, I don't hate it, nor the fact its devs asked for donations. It's a P enjoyable boost game with RLY good level design. I like the Shadow levels and how they take full advantage over his chaos powers. Tails's Tornado stages are alright, except the boss you fight on it (that stage+boss sucked). I think it's a neat fanfic that takes place somewhere after Unleashed, but many years after Sonic X. Sonic Omens is a good game that was (somewhat) justifiably hated for reasons beyond the game's controls.
Not this brain dead take again, it's not the devs fault people don't understand what an actual violation of copyright is. Even Sega didn't take this seriously.
It wasn't exactly bad, but man was it inconsistant. The first act of the game was pretty good imo, the music, the levels, the controls, ...but then LITERALLY EVERYTHING IN THE FINAL EPISODES just felt rushed. The story felt like a Sonic X fanfic, Shadow's character's is... meh, the later levels are just way too inconsistant in difficulty, especially Exiled citadel or the Train level that are straight up frustrating. The last few bosses are painfully harder than the others, and OH BOY THE DRAMA, THE PATREON STUFF, ETC!!! HOW DID THAT ONE UNDERWEAR TEXTURE NOT TRIGGER ANYTHING IN THE TEAM?!?!

Most of the praise I've seen for this game is is about the controls and the graphics, but that's because Omens was built on the Infinity Engine, so what we really have here is a glorified tech demo with very questionable textures in the source files

A lot of people in the community really don't give any critiques with Sonic Fan Games and will rather go with the "It's peak." "The BEST Sonic fan game of all time!" And don't get me wrong, saying those types of compliments is definitely good and nice for the Fan Game(s) & Creators, but constructive/fair criticism is also just as important. (Especially if a Fan Game has game breaking flaws or something that ruined the experience) This is what I've felt with my own Sonic Fan Game(s) and even other Fan Games recently. But yeah.
A lot of your complaints were about the tutorials, I feel like that could have been summarized with something like “tutorials are long and stuff they should be optional” I was really hoping to hear more about the game’s aspects in this video rather than a long winded rant about the tutorials. In a vacuum, the game is just alright at best with a pretty good moments. Some of the levels are pretty good throughout, some are good but with bad moments that drag them down, some are meh with good moments that redeem them somewhat. But games, especially fangames, are not made in a vacuum. But the story is laughable, even by Sonic standards; the voice acting is incredibly hit or miss, with Shadow being particularly bad; the Tornado levels are atrocious, easily the worst that damned plane has ever played; the last level is utter horseshit, even Eggmanland in Unleashed HD wasn't that stuffed with OHK hazards and bullshit enemy types; and the developers are incredibly sketchy.
@@james656-k8e That would explain it. On keyboard, they're not bad, with the exception being the final level with its abundance of instant-kill hazards, but that one is at least short. It's pretty clear that it was designed for M&Kb, then hastily mapped to gamepad without extensive testing. Turning is super slow and _super_ wide, meaning any precision is basically impossible at anything faster than stationary hovering. They also have a very odd movement control layout. Up/down is mapped to the D-Pad, while forward/backward is mapped to the left thumbstick and aiming/turning on the right thumbstick. Meaning you can't move forward while also moving up or down unless you want to completely forgo turning and aiming. Boosting, dodging and actually firing the weapons are fine enough, I would've mapped it differently, but that's more of a personal thing.
Still very undecided on how to feel just because I haven't played enough to give a full opinion, but I'm starting off in a similar spot mentally. I think a LOT of the scrutiny for this game comes from its connection to the devs rather than the actual content. Much worse fan games exist (from what I've played so far) that get a pass and I just think we as a community should be consistent in how we rate things.

I have a few ideas I know people wouldn't like. Artistic vision vs accessibility, I'd say artistic vision should win. Just like Kojima or Miyazaki. And people could say "but it's Sonic", but... why not do something more intense for Sonic? Heroes did it, Unleashed did it. A personal opinion of mine is that springs, dash-rings, grind-rails, ring trails, and all sorts of other level assets are WAYYY too overused and instead, I should largely be able to get through a majority of a stage without utilising anything outside of my base move-set and it’s relationship with different kinds of level terrain. I love skating games and I love parkour games. Freedom and player experimentation should be paramount in a game franchise built upon living fast and free.

They gave the Maria design to a Ukrainian woman to do and sometimes when doing asset modeling of humans we use real life underwear. "Naughty girl" is a Ukrainian underwear brand for women and whilst I think it was very strange to do something like this the intention was not to sexualise anyone. Most of you would know this if you watched "The Sonic Show's" video but most of you watched 5 minutes, disliked, clicked off and continued hating. The herd mentality is crazy 🐑🐏🐑.
I played it the other day and I found it AMAZING. They made the tornado levels actually enjoyable. I didn't have a hard time either. Ignoring the controversy, they did a good job with this game
It isn’t really a bad game, but acknowledging the dev’s actions definitely changed my view on the game. But in general, Sonic Omens is definitely a good game. The voices are spot on, the animation and storyline is incredible, the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is slick. I’m glad downloading this doesn’t support the devs, considering I do enjoy playing this, even if some stages are a tad buggy, it’s probably better than some official released Sonic games.
I really hope that this video puts everything regarding this game that has happened since the initial final release drama back into the spotlight. Also, Sonic Show's video is not a good video to link when it comes to covering the drama, as it's rather dishonest and misrepresents key details about the drama.
Sonic Show was the only person who came from it with a fair and objective take. He didn't just blindly defend or hate the game, he looked at other cases like Sonic Omens and gave comparisons. He also ADDED context to the Maria situaition instead of jumping to calling people p3dõs. Just because you don't personally agree with it because you want to continue hating since it's the popular thing to do doesn't mean he wasn't right.

He generally acts rude and dismissive towards Farkle and people who think that Ouroboros are in the wrong and makes claims that can easily be debunked (like that Ouroboros hardly made any money from the Patreon, when we can confirm that prior to any drama occurring they made 1,008 US dollars) He also pretty clearly looks for a reason to invalidate a MEME that compares Omens to Speed Simulator (which has it's own controversy that I won't get into) like, come on, it's a meme, it's not meant to be taken very seriously. He shows screenshots of Farkle's replies to JOH which pretty clearly deliberately have all context removed from them for the sake of making Farkle look bad. As well as refusing to acknowledge the time that JOH went after Farkle on a tweet completely unrelated to Omens. On a comment that says a lot of things about the controversy that Sonic Show doesn't cover, he dismisses it by claiming that all the things mentioned "aren't points" even though it mentions things such as the toxic work environment that Techno Cinema had to endure. And he's most definitely seen Vin's Twitter thread about her side of things and he conveniently ignores what Vin said about the Omens team saying some not so great things about her in the Russian channel of the old Mania Team Discord. Whilst technically unrelated to his overall dishonesty in the video, he shows the ACTUAL MARIA TEXTURE COMPLETELY UNCENSORED... Which... WHY??? CHILDREN WATCH THE DUDE'S STUFF! Even outside of the drama, the game is still bad, the levels are like bad segments of a good levels but only the bad parts, and the tails levels are even worse, and the bosses are tedious and most are in a boring circle, this is my opinion on this game

Yes it’s bad. Not just because of the c*nts that made it but because it actually is not a good looking or playing game actually. Nitpicker did a good video detailing why Omens graphics aren’t as impressive as people say they are. Voice acting isn’t good the way Sonic controls feels off. When he jumps it feels like you pressed the button too hard and he is going to miss the platform. Level design and structure are off. Most of all these game is a perfect highlight of the problem with fandom in general.
You might remember me in one of your comment sections regarding level length and stuff and while i do like a well packed lengthy level sonic omens takes this prospects and overdoes it 100 times over. Some of these levels are like 10-20 minutes long. While i havent played it myself im pretty sure this games gotta be boring. The level is too lengthy in duration and looks unnaturally wide in size. And also when sonic boost into objects and enemies the slow motion really just unnecessary

What happened is that they outsourced Maria's model to a Ukrainian female 3D artist and she was the one who modeled and textured Maria's panties. She claims that she did it because she used to wear such panties when she was a teenager but no one bought it and she was kicked out of the Ouroboros Discord for tainting their réputation. It's speculated that she did it out of spite because she is Ukrainian and the devs are Russian.@@SendoDX

Obviously it would be way better if the devs didn't suck because while... they wouldn't suck, and since it can be difficult to not associate the game with the devs. I played the game like a year and a half ago, came back and played it again a few months ago and loved it, then I found out about the controversy, and while I wasn't bothered by most of it, there was that one thing that kinda just ruined it for me a bit
@@AYTM1200 I've played both, Omens is way more jank and just not first time player friendly, Overclocked handles it way better on a gameplay front, and story-wise it's nowhere near as cringey
Sonic and Shadow stages have their moments of brilliance, as i remember few moments where i was actually rewarded by skillful gameplay. This is actually pretty huge as the community always harassed Sonic team for their simplistic level design of Forces or Lost world and Omens for the most part didn't make the same mistake as it had alternative paths that you could reach and pulling some cool shortcuts by being good at the game. The stages are also reasonably challenging and lengthy(somewhat more difficult than generations, but not as difficult and long as Unleashed), though some were clearly better than others(looking at the tree level which to this day makes me wonder who thought it would be a good idea) Personally i believe the main problems with omens weren't action stages. It was Bosses which most of them were too difficult and kinda ass, tornado stages which were boring AF(i appreciate the devs trying to bring something else but that just wasn't it), Story/ writing which wasn't AWFUL, but was all over the place and kinda nonsensical and last but not least, the attitude devs had during the launch period was just unacceptable.
Lmaoo, it was NEVER trash. just people jealous that this game was the most downloaded game when it came out. I just ignore the haters who were blindly hating Omens and learned to trust my own eyes. This game is better than every Sonic boost game ever made. (Generations, Unleashed, Forces, Frontiers). Although Frontiers has the better controls, I just like a simplified gameplay without the combat system. Frontiers nailed it though, the boosting and the spin dash. but that game just looks boring, and the story seems trash. Sega's biggest flaw is not including multiplayer in Frontiers which is the ultimate failure and why I prefer Omens over Frontiers. Imagine if Frontiers had a character wheel similar to SADX and a multiplayer mode like Sa2. you've seen the mods made for the characters in frontiers so why didn't Sega capitalize on that? This video is biased, and Sonic Omens will live on and ultimately debunk haters like this guy and the Sonic community.
Sonic Omens is built off of the sonic infinity engine by Oban. A ton of other fangames used this engine, playable characters models, lighting, and all the movement and abilities are attributed to this engine. All the omens team did is add a trash story to their fangame 😂😂
I'm going to give you some perspective. Tester for one of ganes level design. If have an open mind but you don't give a fuck...you going to have a bad time. The game has been streamlined to have a better experience however the game is not going to hold your hand throughout the course of the levels. The story is itself is actually interesting if you're paying attention to the narrative and what's going on. Plus with the red rings it gives you additional details on the lore. Which connects a lot of the levels together. But nobody wants to pay attention to that because of the "russian" accents and chris being in the game. If you play this game it will make you work in order to get good. As far as the devs and the discourse a lot of it was lies and fabricated through a spark fan. Discord was raided, the omens discord was dismantle. Some of the gameplay footage leaked. MARIA got sabotaged i can go on. The dev were trying to extinguish the flame but it was too late and the drama was already spread.

I’m not paying attention to it because I frankly have no interest in this game’s narrative or any Sonic narrative for that matter, I’m just in it for the gameplay. The resulting “score” and perspective I form of this game will be totally devoid of it. That said, I do think it’s worth mentioning that MANY people dislike the story of this game and trying to dismantle the plethora of criticism it received with “you just didn’t pay attention” or “you didn’t go and get the optional collectibles to REALLY love the story” comes off as a very loose and ineffective shield for all valid concerns regarding it. If the majority of people all missed these “points” that made everything make sense… maybe the game didn’t do a great job conveying what it needed to. Same general thing for the drama - TL;DR it won’t impact the way I see the game regardless of the informations accuracy or not. So far the level design definitely has minor issues but it’s all VERY very minor, so we’ll see how I feel about it going forward. Only gameplay thing I hate rn is the plane because, regardless of the game not holding your hand, it just feels like ass to maneuver it in the way the game wants you too. Tight corridors and shit just don’t work with it, and it’s far too demanding for a supplementary gameplay style. Overall, we’ll see where the winds take us. Appreciate your perspective on this whole thing.

Once you master the controls and how to use the environment and memorise the paths and stuff this game is awesome to speedrun just my opinion because the level design accomodates the free controls and you can do some mad skips that just look insane to pull off like search an Area 99 speedrun and you'll see what I'm talking about. Getting under a minute in this game isn't just fun BUT IT IS EYE CANDY as a bonus so yeah I don't care about the devs or the drama I focus on the game itself and it's pretty frickin good it's just not made as a one and done type game and that's why I believe the two player mode is just an excellent addition cause playing with a friend who learns the level design with you the more you play things can get really competitive and having checkpoints keeps competition fresh in my opinion since you always feel the stress of your opponent on you and it just feels better to win afterwards so I believe this game does a lot right but you need to dig deeper and find shortcuts and stuff to realize it's greatness
Drama aside, this game is like if you gave an AI the whole 3D Sonic catalog, and asked it to make a game. The result being a pretty decent low budget imitation of a Sonic Team game, with the good parts and bad parts that come with that. And some really baffling design choices unique to this game.
I first played this after forces and had a ton of fun like i didnt have in a long time playing official 3D sonic games, had no ideia about the devs bs at the moment, it was definitely a breath of fresh air
I feel sonic fans forgot the difference between impressive and good. Is Sonic Omens good? No. Is Sonic Omens Impressive? Yes. It's only impressive because of it being a completed ("completed") game, with fully animated cutscenes.
I think the game overall looks pretty fun, soundtracks really good too (although I never got the controversy behind area 99 when I heard it with the cars 2 comparison) I dont like sonic and shadows jungle levels and the plane segments kinda drag but the rest of the stages are good

i played this game fully, without learning anything about the bad stuff from the devs, not even knowing there was bad decision, and i was suprised by the voice acting, even if shadow's vc is a little goofy,
looking at the way you are been, i had a good time with the game on itself.
It's worth mentioning that the devs didn't make the physics or controls, they used a pre-existing framework (I think called infinity engine) for UE4 and made levels/bosses around that. Exception being the plane levels and other non-Sonic controls

@@SendoDX Here's the thing. There weren't any paywalls for Sonic Omens. Donations are optional. If players thought asking for donations is bad then they could've just NOT donate any money.
I mean, UA-camrs have been making content based on established IPs for many years, and yet it's apparently perfectly acceptable for them to ask for donations. I don't see why a fan game dev can't ask for donations too. They aren't selling the game for money so they aren't profiting out of Sega's IP.
While I don't recommend asking for donations, I don't think Sonic Omens's devs did anything wrong by doing just that.
The reason why other fans hated Omens's devs donation practices is that they were afraid Sega will notice Sonic fans are taking advantage over their generosity regarding fan game development, and might cause Sega to start DMCAing Sonic fan game projects. Of course I can understand that.
Still, looking at Omens alone, I don't hate it, nor the fact its devs asked for donations. It's a P enjoyable boost game with RLY good level design. I like the Shadow levels and how they take full advantage over his chaos powers. Tails's Tornado stages are alright, except the boss you fight on it (that stage+boss sucked). I think it's a neat fanfic that takes place somewhere after Unleashed, but many years after Sonic X.

(Especially if a Fan Game has game breaking flaws or something that ruined the experience)

In a vacuum, the game is just alright at best with a pretty good moments. Some of the levels are pretty good throughout, some are good but with bad moments that drag them down, some are meh with good moments that redeem them somewhat. But games, especially fangames, are not made in a vacuum.
But the story is laughable, even by Sonic standards; the voice acting is incredibly hit or miss, with Shadow being particularly bad; the Tornado levels are atrocious, easily the worst that damned plane has ever played; the last level is utter horseshit, even Eggmanland in Unleashed HD wasn't that stuffed with OHK hazards and bullshit enemy types; and the developers are incredibly sketchy.

@@james656-k8e That would explain it. On keyboard, they're not bad, with the exception being the final level with its abundance of instant-kill hazards, but that one is at least short.
It's pretty clear that it was designed for M&Kb, then hastily mapped to gamepad without extensive testing. Turning is super slow and _super_ wide, meaning any precision is basically impossible at anything faster than stationary hovering.
They also have a very odd movement control layout. Up/down is mapped to the D-Pad, while forward/backward is mapped to the left thumbstick and aiming/turning on the right thumbstick. Meaning you can't move forward while also moving up or down unless you want to completely forgo turning and aiming.
Boosting, dodging and actually firing the weapons are fine enough, I would've mapped it differently, but that's more of a personal thing.

Still very undecided on how to feel just because I haven't played enough to give a full opinion, but I'm starting off in a similar spot mentally. I think a LOT of the scrutiny for this game comes from its connection to the devs rather than the actual content. Much worse fan games exist (from what I've played so far) that get a pass and I just think we as a community should be consistent in how we rate things.

Honestly, I completely agree. A personal opinion of mine is that springs, dash-rings, grind-rails, ring trails, and all sorts of other level assets are WAYYY too overused and instead, I should largely be able to get through a majority of a stage without utilising anything outside of my base move-set and it’s relationship with different kinds of level terrain.
I love skating games and I love parkour games. Freedom and player experimentation should be paramount in a game franchise built upon living fast and free.

I played it the other day and I found it AMAZING. They made the tornado levels actually enjoyable. I didn't have a hard time either. Ignoring the controversy, they did a good job with this game
I'm one of the biggest defenders of the game yet even I wasn't that positive on the final product.
It isn’t really a bad game, but acknowledging the dev’s actions definitely changed my view on the game. But in general, Sonic Omens is definitely a good game. The voices are spot on, the animation and storyline is incredible, the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is slick. I’m glad downloading this doesn’t support the devs, considering I do enjoy playing this, even if some stages are a tad buggy, it’s probably better than some official released Sonic games.
I really hope that this video puts everything regarding this game that has happened since the initial final release drama back into the spotlight.
Also, Sonic Show's video is not a good video to link when it comes to covering the drama, as it's rather dishonest and misrepresents key details about the drama.
Sonic Show was the only person who came from it with a fair and objective take.

Like every other youtuber who covered the controversy, he presumes that Ouroboros Studio made Dragons of the Edge, which isn't actually true, Farkle only presumed that they likely had "some involvement" which we can confirm that they did.
He generally acts rude and dismissive towards Farkle and people who think that Ouroboros are in the wrong and makes claims that can easily be debunked (like that Ouroboros hardly made any money from the Patreon, when we can confirm that prior to any drama occurring they made 1,008 US dollars)
He also pretty clearly looks for a reason to invalidate a MEME that compares Omens to Speed Simulator (which has it's own controversy that I won't get into) like, come on, it's a meme, it's not meant to be taken very seriously.
He shows screenshots of Farkle's replies to JOH which pretty clearly deliberately have all context removed from them for the sake of making Farkle look bad. As well as refusing to acknowledge the time that JOH went after Farkle on a tweet completely unrelated to Omens.

He for some reason states that BOLT sacking Vintiru at the very last minute was "a bullet dodged from the Omens team" which... What? And he's most definitely seen Vin's Twitter thread about her side of things and he conveniently ignores what Vin said about the Omens team saying some not so great things about her in the Russian channel of the old Mania Team Discord.
Whilst technically unrelated to his overall dishonesty in the video, he shows the ACTUAL MARIA TEXTURE COMPLETELY UNCENSORED... Which... WHY??? CHILDREN WATCH THE DUDE'S STUFF!
Also technically unrelated but funnily enough he accidently shows a tweet from user DF saying that the studio has called their fans "mindless hamsters that will swallow anything" long before the development of the game ever began.

Yes it’s bad. Not just because of the c*nts that made it but because it actually is not a good looking or playing game actually. Nitpicker did a good video detailing why Omens graphics aren’t as impressive as people say they are. Voice acting isn’t good the way Sonic controls feels off. When he jumps it feels like you pressed the button too hard and he is going to miss the platform. Level design and structure are off. Most of all these game is a perfect highlight of the problem with fandom in general.
You might remember me in one of your comment sections regarding level length and stuff and while i do like a well packed lengthy level sonic omens takes this prospects and overdoes it 100 times over. Some of these levels are like 10-20 minutes long. While i havent played it myself im pretty sure this games gotta be boring. The level is too lengthy in duration and looks unnaturally wide in size. And also when sonic boost into objects and enemies the slow motion really just unnecessary

It’s Decent I feel like some people don’t get that the criticism was far harsher for 2 reasons
One at that point the game was being overhyped the first I’d say 4 levels are pretty good but after shadow it goes pretty downhill It’s not terrible or anything

@@AYTM1200 I've played both, Omens is way more jank and just not first time player friendly, Overclocked handles it way better on a gameplay front, and story-wise it's nowhere near as cringey
Sonic and Shadow stages have their moments of brilliance, as i remember few moments where i was actually rewarded by skillful gameplay. This is actually pretty huge as the community always harassed Sonic team for their simplistic level design of Forces or Lost world and Omens for the most part didn't make the same mistake as it had alternative paths that you could reach and pulling some cool shortcuts by being good at the game. The stages are also reasonably challenging and lengthy(somewhat more difficult than generations, but not as difficult and long as Unleashed), though some were clearly better than others(looking at the tree level which to this day makes me wonder who thought it would be a good idea) Personally i believe the main problems with omens weren't action stages. It was Bosses which most of them were too difficult and kinda ass, tornado stages which were boring AF(i appreciate the devs trying to bring something else but that just wasn't it), Story/ writing which wasn't AWFUL, but was all over the place and kinda nonsensical and last but not least, the attitude devs had during the launch period was just unacceptable.
Lmaoo, it was NEVER trash. just people jealous that this game was the most downloaded game when it came out. I just ignore the haters who were blindly hating Omens and learned to trust my own eyes. This game is better than every Sonic boost game ever made. (Generations, Unleashed, Forces, Frontiers).
Although Frontiers has the better controls, I just like a simplified gameplay without the combat system. Frontiers nailed it though, the boosting and the spin dash. but that game just looks boring, and the story seems trash.
Sega's biggest flaw is not including multiplayer in Frontiers which is the ultimate failure and why I prefer Omens over Frontiers. Imagine if Frontiers had a character wheel similar to SADX and a multiplayer mode like Sa2. you've seen the mods made for the characters in frontiers so why didn't Sega capitalize on that?
This video is biased, and Sonic Omens will live on and ultimately debunk haters like this guy and the Sonic community.

Sonic Omens is built off of the sonic infinity engine by Oban. A ton of other fangames used this engine, playable characters models, lighting, and all the movement and abilities are attributed to this engine. All the omens team did is add a trash story to their fangame 😂😂

I'm going to give you some perspective. Tester for one of ganes level design. If have an open mind but you don't give a fuck...you going to have a bad time. The game has been streamlined to have a better experience however the game is not going to hold your hand throughout the course of the levels. The story is itself is actually interesting if you're paying attention to the narrative and what's going on. Plus with the red rings it gives you additional details on the lore. Which connects a lot of the levels together. But nobody wants to pay attention to that because of the "russian" accents and chris being in the game.
If you play this game it will make you work in order to get good.
As far as the devs and the discourse a lot of it was lies and fabricated through a spark fan. Discord was raided, the omens discord was dismantle. Some of the gameplay footage leaked.
MARIA got sabotaged i can go on. The dev were trying to extinguish the flame but it was too late and the drama was already spread.
@@ChumZoneGamingEnt so a lot of this comment is based on narrative and I’m not really going to be taking that into account with how I rate/feel about this game. I’m not paying attention to it because I frankly have no interest in this game’s narrative or any Sonic narrative for that matter, I’m just in it for the gameplay. The resulting “score” and perspective I form of this game will be totally devoid of it. That said, I do think it’s worth mentioning that MANY people dislike the story of this game and trying to dismantle the plethora of criticism it received with “you just didn’t pay attention” or “you didn’t go and get the optional collectibles to REALLY love the story” comes off as a very loose and ineffective shield for all valid concerns regarding it. If the majority of people all missed these “points” that made everything make sense… maybe the game didn’t do a great job conveying what it needed to.
Same general thing for the drama - TL;DR it won’t impact the way I see the game regardless of the informations accuracy or not.
So far the level design definitely has minor issues but it’s all VERY very minor, so we’ll see how I feel about it going forward. Only gameplay thing I hate rn is the plane because, regardless of the game not holding your hand, it just feels like ass to maneuver it in the way the game wants you too. Tight corridors and shit just don’t work with it, and it’s far too demanding for a supplementary gameplay style.
Overall, we’ll see where the winds take us. Appreciate your perspective on this whole thing.

As far as the narrative goes the story is telling it right and it tells it the way it should it's just that people don't care just like you so they don't want to understand.... Same with the controversy everything was explained but people don't want to read what happened or how it happened. They just want to point the finger and say "Dev team bad therefore game bad" with that being said I'll say it again the game is not going to hold your hand you've been warned.... I don't recommend turning off the tutorial or you're going to have a bad experience.
Bro is just bad at this game so far and the first impression WILL suck cause I know this game is more centered around replayability than strong first impressions (Oh and bro YOU WILL HATE THE TREE CLIMBING LEVEL but it's like Unleashed its awesome to speedrun with time). Once you master the controls and how to use the environment and memorise the paths and stuff this game is awesome to speedrun just my opinion because the level design accomodates the free controls and you can do some mad skips that just look insane to pull off like search an Area 99 speedrun and you'll see what I'm talking about. Getting under a minute in this game isn't just fun BUT IT IS EYE CANDY as a bonus so yeah I don't care about the devs or the drama I focus on the game itself and it's pretty frickin good it's just not made as a one and done type game and that's why I believe the two player mode is just an excellent addition cause playing with a friend who learns the level design with you the more you play things can get really competitive and having checkpoints keeps competition fresh in my opinion since you always feel the stress of your opponent on you and it just feels better to win afterwards so I believe this game does a lot right but you need to dig deeper and find shortcuts and stuff to realize it's greatness

Drama aside, this game is like if you gave an AI the whole 3D Sonic catalog, and asked it to make a game.
The result being a pretty decent low budget imitation of a Sonic Team game, with the good parts and bad parts that come with that. And some really baffling design choices unique to this game.

I feel sonic fans forgot the difference between impressive and good. Is Sonic Omens good? No. Is Sonic Omens Impressive? Yes. It's only impressive because of it being a completed ("completed") game, with fully animated cutscenes.
I think the game overall looks pretty fun, soundtracks really good too (although I never got the controversy behind area 99 when I heard it with the cars 2 comparison) I dont like sonic and shadows jungle levels and the plane segments kinda drag but the rest of the stages are good
The hud, UI, and end result screen looks so damn boring and bland. It lacks style whatsoever.
