After string of robberies remain unsolved, the owner of the city newspaper blames the police for not rounding up the crooks. But a young reporter discovers that a coded message in the newspaper's editor's box tips the crooks about each robbery!
What a great old-time newspaper story! Reminds me a lot of The Front Page and His Girl Friday. This is a classic early 1930's movie. Thank you so much for posting it

thanks for posting this cute little film. I was impressed by Rita La Roy's performance & by her screen presence, she's terrific and extremely pretty. I wish I knew why she didn't become a bigger star 'cause this film shows she had some potential. after checking her films at imdb, now I know that I had seen her before in a couple of films, but perhaps her roles were too small and not really important, so this could be the reason I didn't notice her existence. without knowing anything about her, I can only assume that being a famous movie actress wasn't the most important thing for her and she had other ambitions in life and become a big movie star wasn't one of them, unfortunately :-/
I agree, she was good and very attractive.
The Editor, Russell Simpson played Pa Joad in Grapes of Wrath 8 years after this movie.

was operated a Liotype for the old Anews American in Baltimore MD in the '60s. I always loved the old moves. The names are great Daisey Tellem, Greeley (sounds like a Dick Tracy movie)
Edited a magazine in the '60s in Canada and am very familiar with linotype, Bravo for a truly realistic interpretation.
I hope everyone enjoyed that fight scene at 45:35. It was choreographed by my 7-year-old granddaughter.
