The pre-Code films have a special appeal because they haven't been filtered through the Censors and ALLOWED to be released to the public. Hah! They should have that same 'Code' TODAY, what with the garbage that's coming out of Hollywood. Everyone complains about it, but they keep going back to the theatres anyway.

Have we ever suffered more with an actress than Zazu Pitts? Her charisma is extraordinary and traps us in her cycle of sweet

I agree with Riogis comment a year ago that this to me too was hilarious, especially when Tommy the kid saw Mr Daniel's who was supposed to be dead laying under the sheet and his head started to rise up! The reaction on Tommy's face was too funny and then he ran out the door down the street! That was just one of the segments that made me laugh even though this movie was a mystery one! And Zazu's signature voice and her facial reactions were comedic and showed great timing and had to laugh too! All in all this was a great entertaining movie! Thanks. Oh, no, don't say that. Eugene Pallette's personal life was said to be one of extreme choices. Believing in the possibility of a 'World blow-up' he built a 'hidden' place in the mountains stocked with cattle, trunk gardens and survival equipment.
He was not a person to feel uncomfortable from other peoples shocked reactions to his racial outbursts. A rather difficult person who still succeeded in finishing over 200 silent pics along with decades of more modern movies later .

Pallette allegedly held racist and pro-Nazi views (he believed Hitler would win the war and thought that was a good idea), which caused friction at the studio.
