Hey Ty, awesome guide. Also, for those who struggle doing a perfect TJU on a dualsense like I did: - In the Playstation settings, swap left and right stick - Set l1 or l2 to 2+3 - Do forward with the right stick by slightly moving it to the right (on p1) - let go and immediately press back + l1 or l2 depending on your short cut. I hope this helps
Ty so much dude this helped me so much I used to be able to hit tju on ds4 pad but I couldn’t get it for the life of me on the dualsense but now finally I got it and hopefully with a little more practice I’ll be able to get more consistent
@7:34 ive been playing this game for so long and i never knew this. I always thought that taunt dashing was what realinged you for tech rolls I never knew you just press taunt twice. Thanks so much. Blew my mind.
I'd have never done a Taunt Jet Upper if it wasn't for your advice, even if I never get far in Tekken I will always have that! So I'm very grateful for this, thank you.
One of my favorite mind games with Bryan's taunt is baiting wake up panic moves or rage arts. Classic one is the Yoshi match up where they think a wake up flash is a good option to beat taunt, then you cancel to make it whiff then b4 for a full combo.
I managed to do 4 TJU for the first time today after practicing since T7. Bind the taunt button on L2. You should ideally be hitting all the other taunt moves first consistently, especially B4 before TJU practice. The key for me, was paying attention to frame input data on the screen!!! I'll repeat the frame INPUT data! Pay attention to it, otherwise you will never hit TJU. I used the Dpad STICK ( Right stick not the left one, you can select this change on settings from PS5 console settings) for the F1 taunt cancel input (slightest and lightest forward touches. I found it way more difficult on the Dpad to hit the F1 taunt cancel input ( mostly kept showing 2/3 frames on input data with the Dpad). Taunt will NEVER hit unless the F1 taunt cancel is a one frame input. This for me was the most important element to master and focus on. I realised afterwards, I was hitting F1 taunt cancel more consistently on the Dpad STICK! Check your input data and consistently practice the F1 taunt cancel showing one frame. Once you have mastered that and the input data is CONSISTENTLY showing F1 as only one frame, only then move onto practicing B2. I used the Dpad for B2. (You can set LP/RP on R1 trigger button and use this for the 2 input, I found this easier than using 2 on the actual pad), Enough practice ( hours, maybe days), you should eventually hit one. Hopefully you will then understand the total input and timing required a little better after a few successful TJU's. Hitting it in real matches may take you a while however 😂😉
One of the things with t8 is Bryan's taunt game. In T7 it was much more straightforward. Do combo > get wall > do ender > taunt. The reward for going for a big damage ender(like upb1+2) was like 4 damage over going for the best taunt oki ender(b3 into db1+2) In T8 because of upf2223 existing it makes the taunt game awkward. Do you take the much bigger increase of damage with upf2223 or do you take the much less damage and go for a taunt combo(that is scaled btw) Midscreen taunting feels really bad in this game over t7. No knockdown on 3+4 feels bad, and heatsmash in neutral makes it scarier to go for. I miss the T7 iteration as taunt oki was pretty much the go to everytime
On the bright side you can really mess with your opponent with df23 I think it was and 3+4 from taunt. Df23 has the same ch properties as 3+4, mix between the 2 as well as db1 from taunt for a quick hitting move (can be avoided by ducking since it's a high) is a good way to use his taunt game mid screen......in my opinion at least
For those of you that don't know Bryan is probably the only if not one of the few characters who can land RA right after heat smash by doing his taunt into it. The taunt resets it in a way and allows the RA to connect after heat smash
Hi late to the party but I’m learning Bryan, does double taunt work with a 1+3+4 bind twice or do you need to use a combination of buttons to do it properly? Thanks!
FINALLY A GOOD TAUNT VIDEO INSTEAD OF COMBO HIGHLIGHT. Question, at what ranks would you say b4 and tju become necessary to learn versus the easier options? Thanks for the guide!
Hey this is a great video, but 1 minor criticism, I feel like you said something in the tju section that could be a bit misleading. You mention practicing a perfect ju by practicing against a -14 move, but you don't have to do a "perfect" ju to punish -14 because you can buffer the buttons during the recovery animations, so it will come out in 14 frames anyway, but since taunt cancels as soon as you press anything you can't actually buffer it, hence why you need to do a perfect input.
Hey, great video! Been playing Bryan for a year now or so, Im not great at taunt but Im consistent on f2-1-4. Which at least to me is good enough to make good use of it in ranked. Is there some reason you had df2-1 as your i13 option instead of uf2? The slightly more damage and the oki just seems more useful to me than the plus frames of df2-1. And I guess Im just a weirdo, but I like to try qcb1 once in a while, since its a non-just frame wallsplat for at least 60 damage, and Im garbage at taunt b4.
Didnt watch the whole vid yet, but thought I'd drop some info about taunt+b4: IIRC the b4 needs to be input after 28 frames from the taunt input. So, including the frames listed for your 1+3+4 input, you need exactly 28 frames before the b4 input. You can verify this yourself by counting Ty's frames for his successful taunt+b4s in this vid. Edit: I guess this is very obvious info based on the startup frames of taunt, but I'm keeping this here anyway, in case it helps someone.
A good thing to note is that b4 can be combo'd off of when at the wall with or without taunt by doing jet upper. Timing is a little tricky but not to hard, the hardest part for most people is executing jet upper after b4.
@@The_Pantologist57 at least the jet upper after b4 allows for buffered inputs, since it isn't a stance move (i.e. it's not like ewgf/hatchet kick/hellsweep, where you need to start the input for the stance while you're already actionable)
@@bignerd1323 Indeed, I am glad b4 isn't a stance move, it would make Bryan that much harder to play if we had to use b4 like you would with PEWGF and those other moves.
Thank you for all, TY. I'm playing Bryan since T5DR and I really didn't know about the double taunt, and I didn't understand why in your videos or knee's videos, opponents couldn't side step the taunt and it happens all the time to me 😂. Do you think it works if I hold 1 and double press 3+4 ?
I'm late to this and I've just became a new converted Bryan main coming from Raven. What I find to be utterly ass is when I set up 1+3+4 it does a grab when I put it all on one button and it's driving me nuts and I'd like to see myself taunt cancel super fast but it's just really hard on Ps5 controller. Do you have any tips?
Hey Ty. No you can't cancel the taunt anytime you want. If you do taunt and wait a little bit when bryan waves his arm, whatever you press, he wont do it. This ruined alot of my taunts. Your literally stuck in the animation if you just miscalculate a little bit. Btw. do you have a tip how i can cancel bryans parry? When i wall splat because i parry with bryan, he goes into snake eyes with his wave and i cant launch because the opp is already on the ground, you know a way to cancel the snake eyes animation?
hey ty! nice guide that u made.. i do have a problem with my double taunt not tracking. My bind button its 1,3,4 and when i press the bound button two times it wont track. Any ideas how i can make it work? cheers
So something weird that I've noticed is that you can do taunt, uf3+4 and it's not a frame perfect window even though uf3+4 is a 16 frame move. Idk if this is a bug or because of the recent buff the move got, but just thought it was interesting. My execution with taunt cancels isn't consistent yet, but from what I've seen, you got like a 2-3 frame leniency for it even though it's a 16 frame move
GREAT VIDEO. Quick question Ty, is there any solution to stop getting F1+2 when trying to do Taunt F214? I don’t know why but for some reason in T8, I’m getting lot more F1+2 when trying to do F2,1,4 fast like usual, no idea if somethings up with the button input mechanic in T8, I’ve been doing the same way for years but getting F1+2 more than usual in T8
If youre getting that misinput its just because you are pressing f2 and 1 too close together. You can actually space the buttons out more than you think.
Alright thanks I’ll give that a try. Btw, is there a way to do chains of misery throw fast like before, where you can buffer and do it instantly? Seriously hate how they made so many command grabs to just crouch db1+2 so you can’t buffer it like before :(
I'm still in the B4 level and I struggle with the consistency on my back input being at the same time with my 4 input! I always seem to input the back input a few frames earlier ... Does someone has any tips?
