This was captured on Clio, a moon of Stanton IV for the ones wondering about the Javelins atmospheric capabilities. We actually tried this on a planet and it couldn't hold itself in the air
The largest ship which can actually fly in atmosphere should be the Kraken, Idris or the Merchantman. Furthermore, outside of the Merchantman, most of them should be highly fuel consuming to fly in atmosphere. When atmospheric flight comes in, you might also have to consider the weather and other things which might make the journey even more difficult, not to mention how long it will take you to come out of the atmosphere again.
Yeah, the lore was that Javelins were initially completely armor tanked and then retrofitted with shield systems after at lease one of the major space wars. IOW, the thing has so much mass that it does not care if you are shooting it... I can't say I am surprised by it flying like a lump of lead.
Man i really love how this game looks, but i think, especially at low speeds, the Ship should put a lot of pressure on the water below, like a helicopter
@@FrostSe7en the point is that where there is atmosphere there is obviously much higher gravity which puts strain on the thrusters to keep the ship up, which the javelin isn't designed for since it is only designed for space and can't lift up its own weight inside a gravity well hence why it doesn't have a landing gear.

This technically shouldn’t be possible. The javalin doesn’t have landing gear because its thrusters are not capable of lifting its own weight in atmosphere.
This is a bug. It's proven even in lore that ships like this cannot be in atmosphere. Just go to that javelin crash site. Cool to see, but boy this fucks my sense of immersion raw-dog style
@@trapper5960 No we do not. The only time we Javelin in atmosphere is when it is in a gas giant like Crusader. The Javelin CANNOT go into the atmosphere of a planet like microTech or Hurston. @@cmdrspacecroissant421 That's incorrect. This is a bug and the Javelin cannot enter any atmosphere of a planet like microTech, Hurston, ArcCorp, etc. They can enter gas giants and moons because the gravity is much less but it has to be MUCH lower. How are you flying a fking javelin?
it looks like its missing a few thrusters, maybe thats why it couldnt hold itself
@@NovaRexus64Nah, I think it’s intentional. Capital ships should be absolutely abhorrent in atmo.
The javelin is not meant to be flying in atmo. been known since it was made. biggest that will fly in atmo is the idris.

2-3 in total?

As I understand it, the Jav isn't actually designed to work in atmo, which explains the lack of bottom thrusters.
@@EarthmanJim it's not supposed to be able to land in atmosphere, but its able to fly in atmo
yeah especially considering she is 480m long
um y theres no downward force keeping it up when its stationary
@@Tr2w no it cant, this was in clio with a really low gravity but it cant fly in normal planets
Man this is gonna go a lot different when there's Thruster Heat to account for on Atmo. But great video! I love yhe new water VFX!
Atmosphere provides cooling media though... it's massively easier to radiate waste heat in an atmosphere than in vacuum.

So javelin can finally fly in atmosphere

We have fully functional interior and exrerior of javelinnow?
Not yet. A part of the interior is partially accessible and implemented ingame but the majority of it is locked behind Squadron 42.
This technically shouldn’t be possible. The javalin doesn’t have landing gear because its thrusters are not capable of lifting its own weight in atmosphere.
it is possible for it to fly in atmo just not hover so its not entirely unreasonable
It literally has no landing gear?
This happened on Clio, it has about 1/3 of the earths gravity so it is a bit more manageable. Still unrealistic to some extent thats true :D
I think you mean in a planet’s gravity field, atmosphere doesn’t necessarily mean it can’t maintain altitude
How did you come into posession of a Javeline?
It randomly spawned throughout the verse in the EPTU. Sometimes even during MRTs which is funny
when they gonna add the new QD
What’s the point to do it at night
It just happened to be at night and we didn't get to do it at day again
