Honestly, if this came with a spinner and trackball, even if it were smaller, I would opt for this because you do have a point. I am the only person playing this games.
Hey Hey! Great review, very thorough and much appreciate into the insight on the ALU mini. I think this is a really cool unit. I too own the ALU, and wouldn't change it, but I see this as a great way for collectors of the 3/4 scale to integrate an AtGames system into their home arcades. Bonus points awarded: for listening to your wife on where to place the Mini...lol Looking forward to more of your STEAM game reviews! :) Happy Holidays!
Hey David, that’s an excellent point, the 3/4 scale of the ALU mini would better suit a collector since it’s as wide as most Arcade1Up machines. The wife entertains my hobby in the actual living room, so she is normally right when it comes to what stays and goes, lol Also, next Steam review goes up Thursday or Friday, depending on the Infinity Game Table releases this week.
Hey thanks MadDadsGaming! I definitely enjoy the mods you show on your channel. Keep them coming! Also, I kinda wish I would have went with the Tetris version that you picked up. I just wasn’t sure I needed it when they first had them up for sale.
Yeah, I had to swap out the one that came with it. I wanted to play some Mortal Kombat 11 as soon as I had it together and I already had the Legends Gamer Mini ready for when it arrived, lol
Thanks for doing this review. Liked and subbed. I too have the other Atgames products and have been on the fence about the mini. I can see it being a dedicated vertical build or a pinball option when I don't want to stand over my ALP.
2025 now and thinking about getting one of these, sadly none of the reviewers have done what I want to know. Horizontal games playing on a vertical screen. I am guessing that the machine comes vertical as standard which is what I want it for. I can understand that some people might want the option of rotation, if they do not have the space for the ALU. I would still possibly hook this up to a PC, just in case you have vertical PC games that are worth playing.
Wish you would do a review hooking up a seperate console via the USB/HDMI ports they provide....like a Super Console X or similar. That's a great feature if it works and setup is easy anyways.
This would be great and i would buy it in a minute if it had a joystick like ultimarc magstik plus that you can easily switch from 8way to 4way by pulling up on the joystick as playing games like donkey kong on a 8way stinks :) . Thanks for the info
I agree. It would be nice to see them offer an upgraded deck that you can purchase and swap in to the machine would be the way to go. I could see your idea with the Ultimarc magstik paired with Sanwa buttons and maybe A trackball for a premium feel.
Hey Gents! To this point, I know I saw somewhere...maybe Glen's Retro Show or someplace similar that is offering an automatic gate switcher for joysticks. It was pretty slick and I don't see why it couldn't fit inside the control deck of either the ALU or the Mini. I wish I could remember where I saw it, but it worked at the press of a button! Google time!!
@@FactorofGames That would absolutely sell me on this product. Sanwa buttons the trackball and that type of joystick would just really set this apart ☺️
It's Annoying how AtGames Customer support is horrible, I can not find any info on where to buy replacement Restricter Gates for the Joysticks, you can't buy them on their E-Store and they don't tell you what brand of Gates to look for on E-Bay or Amazon. Nobody on UA-cam has any videos about how to replace or change out / upgrade AtGames Restricter Gates. I found a few videos explaining the facts different Restricter Gates and what each type of Gates does but none and where to buy Gates Compatible with AtGames Joysticks or what brand they use so I can search on E-Bay for that brand. I emailed them over 5 days a go about the 12 volt AC adapter and they have not responded. I bought the Legends Gamer Mini on E-bay (As of 6:45pm EDST 4/8 it has not arrived yet Stupid USPS) and think maybe it was a bad decision if I can't get any help on using it (other than how to Add Games or install CoinopsX Arcade Version 5 is Alive Saucey Edition) or changing it's Restricter Gates.
I know that Scott here on the channel has swapped out his ALU restricted gates with new Glen’s Retro Show 4/8 way auto restrictor gate. If you tune into his Saturday livestream at 10am pacific time here on the channel, he can probably tell you his thoughts and how he did it.
Thanks for watching!
Here is a Playlist with 700+ games I've covered on Steam Deck: ua-cam.com/play/PL8q1uu7_LJHQYdiOy-RTBmyDsPmOyVWoo.html

Spinner and trackball would make it the complete single player package

@@FactorofGames well i noticed that yours has 8 buttons instead of 6.

Thanks Tim! I have spent most of the past week playing on the ALU Mini and I’m still very happy with the unit. It pairs with the ALP quite well.

Filming it this evening. Thanks for the feedback!

@@davidh4548 it's same company but more expensive. Still worth it . But this stick has less electronics so would be cheaper for atgames I would think

If you keep changing from vertical mode to horizontal mode over and over again you might wear out or break the monitor cable wires.
I think it would take a lot of times to have it cause a problem. I probably switch it around 2-3 times a week.
Cool 😎
Hello, is it still worth getting one in 2025?
