i was kinda addicted to pac man and spider fighter and my favorite pin ball machine was lost world ! i just got a nes mini 260 the other day but havnt hooked it up yet ! 260 games is alot !
Gotta be defender. I got really lucky once at galloping ghost and got the opportunity to meet Sam Dicker (the man behind the legendary sound effects). He watched me play the game a bit, told me I know what I’m doing and took a picture with me in front of the cab. I will NEVER forget that and it further cements defender as my all time favorite arcade machine.
Been watching a ton of videos on arcades trying to decide which one to get. You’re the only creator so far who’s energy and charisma I enjoyed. And after the “starship enterprise” reference I subbed. Keep these arcade vids coming
I found your channel about a week ago and have been binging. I really appreciate your vibe and attitude. You're like a friend. My fav arcade game from my childhood was the Simpsons arcade game with special honors to Sunset Riders.
@@mariocovone498 join the club I wasn't very good at Q·Bert in the arcades. Now I have the NES version and play it with the NES Advantage and I do somewhat better. But some stages mix of color distortion my perception of depth.
Gauntlet, Dig Dug, Choplifter and Battlezone were my favorites - not to mention DRAGON'S LAIR and all the amazing 1990's pinball - twilight zone and The Addams Family.
Galaga, pole position and joust were my go to games. The Star Wars game was always fun too. Gauntlet was great with a group of friends especially if I was at an overnight lock in where they would just load up all the games with credits and let you play all night into morning. Rampage was real fun that way too.
I remember from the arcades Zoo Keeper, Electric Yoyo, Qix, Fantasy, etc. I had a lot of fun in the arcades in my teens. My town had several of them. Cool video Riggs!👍
I loved playing one of the Metal Slug standalone cabs at the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, MI back in the day. Also, these days, love me some Dodonpachi, Gunbird and Gunbird 2 these days! Oh and Neo Geo Turf Masters.
I feel like these at home arcades should have perfectly square screens, so that you could play any games in landscape or portrait mode without having to turn the screen. It would also preserve the aspect ratios because the screen is square.
The highscore via network is an awesome feature. Not to show my age but the biggest draw of the arcades back in the day was getting or maintaining a high score on your favorite game.
They should make a "bar top" version with legs that fold out from the bottom, if you want to allow it to stand freely. As far as favorite arcade games, I don't think I could narrow it down to just 1. I loved playing Midnight Resistance, the G.I. Joe Arcade game, and I loved Crisis Zone. Darkstalkers also holds a special place in my heart, since I love the horror theme.
My top favorites from the Arcade were Gauntlet, Gauntlet 2 , Narc and Smash TV, Numerous PinBall's over the years like Bram Stoker's Dracula, Twilight Zone, and some older ones I cant recall the names of anymore.
I see Rastan on there, loved that back in the day even though I never made it past the second level in the arcade. Cool looking bad guys and a good soundtrack
The best arcade game in the world for me was Tron. I used to go to Showbiz Pizza (later Chuck Cheese or even Major Magic's!) here in Buffalo, NY as a kid, and I'd be PUMPING TOKENS into Tron. The light-cycles, the disc battles, and the tank bettle! That's totally a bucket list thing for me. I MUST get myself a Tron arcade game. I'm fine with a replica as long as the controls are all there.
Not too familiar with Arcade games (yet!), but I like Metal Slug and Cyber Lip on NeoGeo as well as the 1993 arcade beat 'em up game Ninja Baseball Bat Man by Irem.
If you're not familiar with them yet, you never will be. Tons of research proves that if you don't know something today, it's impossible to learn it tomorrow. 🤣
I recommend you check out the following titles, in no specific order; Mappy New Zealand Story, the Mr. Do series of games Dig Dug Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Polybius Outrun Hang On! Donkey Kong Klax Puyo Puyo Tetris Shinobi There too many great titles to list but these games should get you started out nicely.
@@matthewb9955 Thanks for the list. I will put those on my list of games to check out at some point. So many difference systems and games we want to have a look it.
Prehistoric Isle. I loved it. Never could get very far but still was mesmerized by it. I remember being 9-10 years old standing around the machine watching older kids play it. My heart was in it just as if I were playing it myself and I hoped each time to see more of "the story" which was actually just the levels of the game. But there was also another top-down game similar to it and I can't remember its title. It was top down though, not side scrolling... Not 1942 (or 3) same type of airplane and also some kind of jungle-like fantastic beast enemy type environment...
Double Dragon and Final Fight,Captain Commando,Knights of the Round,King of Dragons,Killer Instinct,Ms.Pac-Man and Pac-Man,Donkey Kong,Street Fighter 2,Ghouls n Ghosts🤘😎
Great review! 😀 Quick question: I've been looking at the mini because I like the idea of being able to rotate the screen for different games, but like the additional controllers of the full size. How do vertical games look on the full size Legend? I really hate when games like Galaga get squashed down or Pac Man gets stretched because of screen ratios. Thanks in advance! 🙂
You are a half-giant of a man... if this was a paid review, they might have done better to go with Kelsey who would have made it seem HUGE as apposed to small. AtGames is definitely a company that has listened to the fans and as a result has made improvements. Other companies think they know better and keep making the same mistakes... so good on you AtGames. Very cool stuff.
You asked about arcade games and I came up with 3. Zaxxon, Tempest and Double Dragon. There's so many more I like but if I had to pick 3 that I really enjoyed that's it.
@johnriggs, question, when you hook in the usb, or bluetooth, controller on the mini can you then play with 2 people on the mini? I'm thinking of buying one but I know my son will bug me for 2 player stuff.
So like the issue I've seen with a lot of these is they advertise it's an original arcade experience but then you play it and it's an Atari or NES port of the arcade game, which isn't the same at all.
Favs: Bubble Bobble, Arkanoid, Mario Bros. Uhhhg.. they would release this right after I purchase an iiRcade. I mean it was hard to pass at $299, but man I'd love to have the Legends arcade. Better games and the ability to load your own.
Atgames evolved alot from them crappy Sega Genesis clones. I like the cabinets Riggs. A prefer the bat joysticks but for the price you can't complain. Many options on both units to add games.
I would slap Rampage on there in a heartbeat if it was not already on. I really wanted to get the Arcade 1up Rampage cab but I can't see spending that kind of money without the customization options available that come with multi cabs like these. That said I am eyeing getting this or the non-mini variant.
My favorite classic arcade game? Robotron 2084. Unfortunately, it looks like the LU Mini doesn't have suitable controls for a two stick game like Robotron. That's a shame. I also liked Operation Wolf and Time Pilot. For two players, my favorite was P-47: The Phantom Fighter.
I have the 1up cabinet for Pacman with a total of 11 games. I wouldn't mind getting another cabinet like that if we end up moving into a bigger place. :) Wife will be like, really?! I will just blame you.
Maybe im spoiled but i need to see those classic games on a phosphous CRT display. Heavier and more cumbersome, sure. Or an OLED, at least you will have good blacks, that LCD doesnt look too good...
What’s your opinion on the Legends Gamer Mini? It’s just the control board that connects to a console to display on a TV. If I buy any of these it’ll have to be that one because of the lower price and I’m not sure what to expect.
@@JohnRiggs I’ve heard conflicting stories on if the AtGames Legends systems have a lot of hardware issues over time, have you had any problems with them in your experience?

Two favorite arcade games: Golden Axe and a game called Jail Break which I always played but never even passed the first level.
John is starting to look like the Ben Franklin of gaming.

Love the vertical screen setup. It'll be awesome for 1942 and Aero Fighters
