Excellent episode. This was like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend levels of sudden 3-dimensional character growth. Genevieve definitely made her debut tonight. I really hope next week we go from 3 to 2 tribes instead of full merge or merge-atory.
i just finished s43 a few days ago after my survivor hiatus, still need to catch up with 44-46 so i'm happy to see a new era familiar face (that i also liked!). need to catch up asap, lots of references to the seasons in my blindspot
James is wrong, Teeny's vote does not matter in any scenario. Since Rome is guaranteed playing his SAV, he and Genevieve are 3/5 (or 3/4) votes. If the plan is Sol, it's unanimous. If the plan is Rome, Genevieve makes the decision regardless. There is no scenario where Rome uses his SAV that Teeny's vote matters.
Even if Rome doesn’t use SAV, Teeny’s vote still wouldn’t matter if they go on Rome as it’d be 2-2 and then on the revote, Rome won’t vote and his two votes are taken off the board, leaving only the 2 votes against Rome (which was Kishan’s plan).
I feel like James is one of those players getting screwed over by no all star seasons in the 40s. He may not have enough of a legacy from his season to come back for 50, but he could have if he’d had another shot beforehand! We’re missing out on more developed character arcs and legend building for these folks.
This was honestly a banger ass episode. Genevieve is one of my favorite players now, she absolutely has the mind for the game. In the episode I went from being excited that Rome may get blindsided to than switching to Keshawn was awesome.
I completely disagree. She's just created a dead end game for herself. Sol will never vote with Rome, and Teeny isn't going to trust her. At best she gets tied into a deadlock at next tribal. Most likely she'll be forced to vote against Rome and pray the others don't just toss her aside at the merge.
FYI the audio on this makes it a bit difficult to listen to - Rob is much louder than James. I have have to turn the volume up and down based on who’s talking.
thanks for this - I usually prefer to watch the video, but James's volume is way too low and I cannot hear him at all - I'll switch over to the podcast
For Seinfeld recs: The Puffy Shirt, The Chinese Restaurant, and The Strike (Festivus) are a great mix of funny episodes with max meme/pop culture power.
We need to talk more about Caroline CRUSHING these puzzles in the immunity challenges. she also seems socially well off & now has an amulet. she is someone to watch imo!!
im still trying to wrap my head around how this is good long term for Genevieve, bc im thinking abt how it looks like her relationships with Teeny and Sol are tarnished. She also has the tag of being rome’s #2 which teeny and sol would hypothetically push that narrative at the merge if they make it. I feel like flipping a vote on rome prevents all of these potential issues down the road by doing this flip!
I honestly don't understand why people think this was a good move for Genevieve. Don't get me wrong, neither option was GOOD. But she had two scenarios. One where she is the third person in a tight three, with strong connections and trust with Sol. The other where they are a totally fractured tribe and she's tied at the hip with Rome. In choosing this option, she created a scenario where the best possible outcome is they go to tribal again and she and Rome make it through as a strong duo. Then she has to hope and pray the remaining member doesn't find an alliance to get them out early. I honestly think she's got a dead end game now.
3 Seinfeld episodes for James to watch: The Soup Nazi (Season 7 Episode 6), The Strike w/Festvus (Season 9 episode 10), The Sponge (Season 7, episode 9) Just my opinion but they have lines that are quoted outside of Seinfeld as well so they'd be good to know. The Contest and The Bubble Boy are also good ones. Really too many to list
Teeny knew last week about the Steal a Vote and theoretically should know the vote can be controlled by Rome and Genevieve alone. I could just be a disgruntled podcast listener, but voting Aysha last week seems like one of the biggest obvious blunders in recent times
I’m trying to understand why Keshan was interested in voting out Aysha last week but I’m not quite getting it. Did he evaluate that the foursome of him, Teeny, Aysha and Sol was worse for him than the one with Rome and Genevieve? Particularly with Rome’s steal-a-vote. I’m not following. And I feel that’s the make or break decision. There’s zero chance of Keshan being eliminated here at his second tribal had Lavo voted Rome or Genevieve out on the first one.
Genevieve doesn't pull this if Kishan doesn't try to blindside Rome who is close to her and likely if he doesn't try to make her the decoy vote. Doing this with the steal-a-vote in play was wild gameplay (most likely he misread Genevieve's and Rome's relationship). Also quite likely he really trusted Genevieve, much more than Aysha or Sol, so he didn't want to lose her (which was likely the way the split would work out b/c of Rome's idol). I don't necessarily fault the first tribal decision, especially given the inherent sketchiness to 2-2-2 votes when no one has voted together before (3-2-1 is so easy to pull, and people you may read as being loyal or unassuming may end up cutting your throat). Opinions may differ, but I also don't think you need to play for your tribe getting down to 3 (the only way where it matters that Genevieve and Rome are together... 4 can work well in the merge) when your tribe is the last to lose an immunity challenge. At least in the New Era. You'd have to lose the next two (if mergatory still at 13). Sure, it's possible, but it's 1/9. Even then, you're in a 2-2 situation if you got Rome to use his steal-a-vote here. Another factor is that if you split at the first tribal, you make Rome antagonistic (he likely plays idol on himself), and he might just find another idol instead of watch Sol.
There’s likely a Kishan/Genevieve relationship that we weren’t seeing so taking out Aysha isn’t a bad move, IF Kishan’s plan is to follow through on that relationship. He was overcooking too hard by throwing both of them under the bus this round to each other, pitching Genevieve as a decoy to Rome and Rome as the real target to Genevieve. You have to assume that that information is gonna get back to them, especially since just last tribal you linked your duo up with their duo. Kishan played too hard, made bad moves and got caught with his pants down, simple as that.
Karma for Aysha! Welcome to S47, Genevieve! I think showing Sue lying about her age and again about the paint might be foreshadowing that people are doubting her.
Kishan talked about getting bad vibes from Aysha. Looks like karma struck because she wanted to vote out Genevieve and Genevieve was the one to take Kishan out 😂 Love Aysha’s Karma striking from the Survivor grave!
Lavo is reminding me so much of the Brains tribe from Cagayan. And if Rome goes home next, Teeny, Sol, and Genevieve are the new era Tasha, Kass, and Spencer. They sort of have trust with one another, but not really...
I'm so happy Genevieve was my number 1 draft pick now 😂 Don't know where her edit will go from here or if she'll make it anywhere near FTC (as it's still too early to tell IMO) but I'm glad she's finally made a big move and is no longer being purpled
Love hearing James on the podcast. Honestly I wasn't a fan of him in the game of season 43 only because he was against whom I was rooting for (the baka boys) but now I'm a fan
Rob, I love listening to you but I wish you would make your guest have the same type of equipment as you, I have to turn it up super loud when James is talking then then turn it down when you’re talking so I’m not gonna finish. Please fix it please. I want to hear what you have to say.
Teeny & Kishan made a big mistake (in Q's voice -lol) & aligned w/ the wrong duo. In addition, Teeny made a 👎🏿 choice by giving up her vote during the "journey." As a result of these choices, Genevieve & Rome had all of the power. Now, they are the only power duo left on the Red Tribe. Well, the plot thickens...We will see what happens w/ this Red Team moving forward.
If Kishan really wanted to give Geneveive's name to Rome, I feel like the move has to be to just go back to Geneveive and tell her that it was Rome who threw her nane out.
Genuinely think Lavo's (genevieve's) best move now is to throw the next challenge to pick off Teeny.... there is no risk. of rome and sol being closer to each other than they are to her, and Rome is a meat shield for merge. Other tribes will be more willing to turn inwards if they go in with less numbers. Like if you're down in the numbers you might as well drill down to a core that can sit tight and ride deep into the merge.
There’s no guarantee Sol doesn’t just flip to Teeny and it’ll be a deadlocked vote. They should absolutely try to win and if they don’t, Genevieve should probably cut her losses with Rome and flip on him to avoid a tie cause Sol is gonna be an infinitely stronger ally to have at the merge.
Genevieve has zero emotional quotient. Her flat affect when Kishawn said he trusted three and no response from her was void of al feeling and disgusting
I'm gonna go with the latter since in my mind she's just created a no win situation for herself going forward. If they don't go to tribal, they go into the merge with her tied at the hip with Rome who people will target-or worse, target her as a precursor to take him out. Or they go to tribal. Either it's a deadlock where she's forced to vote Rome out and they go into the merge completely fractured, or she creates a situation where Teeny or Sol will immediately jump ship and make the other two targets.
Why is Rome stepping up for a puzzle? I mean, hello, you don't know you suck at probably everything, especially at puzzle? Usually Asians are good at puzzles, and Rome's overly inflated ego has probably stopped Sol from doing it because Rome can't admit that Sol is smarter than him. Has there ever been any black guy who's good at puzzles so far? I don't recall anyone.
Bruh, just because he’s cocky about everything, doesn’t mean he’s bad at everything. Yeah he sucks at the puzzles, but looking back on all 4 episodes he’s a strong challenge player.
@@amario786 I don't have a favorite this season, there is no real stand out for me. Rome, essentially gluing himself to Sol, was a "dic$move". If I were Sol, I would have put my fist in Rome's mouth. That's why I could never be on Survivor.
