    My neighbor has had one of these sitting in his front yard, sinking into to ground for longer than I've been alive. He's got a bunch of parts and another cab from one laying around too, along with some old police cars. He refuses to sell to anyone. He's the type of guy that always says he'll restore it some day, but I know it'll never happen. So every year the truck just gets worse and worse, and the original canopy that was on it collapsed and got destroyed in the snow a couple years ago. Hopefully I can save the truck some day though!

    Great video B.C. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I've even learned something new about my Deuce. However you had mentioned in this video that the M35A2 did not have fold down sides but in fact I do have a M35A2 with fold down sides. I can also help with some of the California regulation questions because I live in this state and own a Deuce. You can not drive the Deuce in this state with just a class C drivers license. however you can if you bob it. But I would not do this to mine!

    When I was in Nam in an Aviation company we had a deuce and half driver doing a PM. He decided he needed to clean the air filter and he used MOGAS to do this. After cleaning it he blew the filter dry and reinstalled, then started the engine. When it started it was like the throttle was wide open and uncontrollable and could not shut it down, after a bit the engine blew up.

    So no locks?... How does one deal with that problem?

    • @slydawg121
      @slydawg121 10 років тому +1

      Well think about it when you start one its best to let the air tanks fill first before departure, and that take a couple minutes. Plus they wouldn't make a good getaway vehicle if you stole one, and their loud. But some people build a battery cut off mechanism so there's only power when they need it, I believe you can actually buy a key start though, granted it wouldn't be as sophisticated as modern cars but it'd help with theft

    • @slydawg121

    • @deuceandguns

      This is a common request. My first video when I can get to the farm and it's not raining will be to fix whatever is leaking oil. Then my next video will be a high level on the multi fuel capabilities. It seems like every time I can get to the farm it's raining. I'm waterproof and so is the Deuce but my camera gear is not. Thanks for the request I'll have the part one on multi fuel up in the next few months (March or April).

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  10 років тому

      Yes, this is a five speed and it does have a high and low range transfer case. It does use an air assist system for breaking but it's not quite like what you'd find in modern big trucks. It does have an duel air horn setup inside the engine bay on the passenger side. These were good questions thanks for watching!

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  10 років тому

      Those are called Combat Locks. I've never talked about them but they can only be used if you are inside the vehicle unless you leave another way to get inside such as unlatching a windshield or unzipping the rear window. Due to having a soft top I never plan on locking the door because I'd rather someone open up the door and find nothing to steal vs. cutting the top open then finding nothing to steal. Thanks for reminding me about the combat locks I need to add that info to a video eventually.

      kain hall who the hell would steal a 2.5 ton in the first place anyway? As you said, it's hard to steal something this big and loud, especially since you have the nerve wrecking beeping from the air tanks for the first 2 minutes before you should even consider driving...

    Question. I've been looking around for a deuce. found an M35A3 locally and test drove it. At higher speeds the steering wheel began to wobble and felt a slight pull to the right. So my question is, could this be caused by the worn tires or something else? It has the 14.5r20 tires on it. Just wanting an experienced opinion to decide to buy or walk away.

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  8 років тому

      It's difficult to diagnose an issue over the internet but that could be anything from tires, alignment, steering box, and probably several other things that I'm not thinking of at the moment. Bring it up with the owner and see if he'd work something out with you for a solution.

      In stock form it'll safely run at 45mph. In an emergency or in my case by accident it can be run to at least 65mph but this is a dangerous engine RPM and will eventually blow the motor (usually throwing a rod through the engine block). People have put on taller tires and/or changed the gear ratio to run at 60mph at a safe RPM but I prefer to keep mine factory at the moment. Honestly, unless the braking system is upgraded 60mph is not that safe in these trucks.
