  • In this final video of the short series dealing with the TOP TEN differences between the texts of the Bible in the Dead Sea Scrolls and our traditional Old Testament or Hebrew Bibles I go through the final Five, ending with what I think might be the most significant textual difference of all--in terms of later influence and understanding of the kind of Messianism we find in both the Qumran "Essene" movement and the early John the Baptist/Jesus/James movement, also known as "earliest Christianity."

I vote for James Tabor to be on Joe Rogan, please contact Joe Rogan to be the podcast. You was there at the caves when the scrolls were being released, you are the historical legend when it comes to the scrolls. If anybody deserves a famous podcast, it is you brave warrior. I am voting for James Tabor ! You pointed out very important significant differences between the version that people have now and the original documents. I am a bit shocked that you did not mention the significant differences of the day of Resurrection, yet that was mentioned in your other episodes, and I think that definitely would be number one. You have been doing this for over 40 years james, I want to see you in greater success.

You should hear his full testimony about it.he was instrumental in the release of the photos. He showed them to tabor. They are great friends. Few disagreements.(over Paul being the liar etc) But great friends. Mike wise, Eugene, they all buddies.

The LXX contained a version of Psalm 151. The Dead Sea scroll version is slightly different, suggesting different scribal traditions for 151 existed in antiquity. This shouldn’t be too surprising because even the LXX has different versions for different books of scripture, like Daniel, Tobit, Esther, etc.

Very enlightening, Dr. Thanks so much for these.
My only quibble is referring to Wes as a scholar. His public commentary is too far over the line into theology and apologetics to deserve polite deference of title. His deception is used to establish credibility and reliability that he simply doesn't have, which then misleads millions into believing falsehoods.
He's perpetuating harmful religious bigotry of Christian nationalism by providing pseudo intellectual costume for blatantly emotional based conclusions they use to justify their harm they cause others.

Concerning Malachi 3:1 based on Mark's Elijah discourse it seems that Mark did not have a DSS version in mind, since the disciple ask: why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first (refering to the end of Malachi).
However Jesus intersperses his counter challange: but where is it written that the Son of Man must suffer and be treated with contempt?
Here you could have a text in mind which says: But who could bear him/them, when he comes?
The DSS version seems also to imply: who can bear (accept) them when they come? The author looks already back at figures who had been rejected.
But going back to Malachi it is clear that the remeberance of Moses and Elijah in the last chapter has been written as a way to close the greater canon of the prophets. And here one might think that this closure somehow corresponds with 3:1. But who is to come, when the law is allready with them? It is the zealous spirit of Elijah. So indeed it makes sense when 3:1 speaks just of one, not of two or more to come.
So no, i neither see Mark use a DSS version nor does the DSS version appear here more original.
But that was a cool reminder by Tabor. Thanks.

That Malachi verse refers to the end times which have not occured, not to the figure of John 2000 years. Whoever composed the new testament and referred to that verse got it wrong. The new testament is full of blatant lies that will soon be exposed.

I agree with everything you said in this video. I have found the Dead Sea Scrolls Bible very helpful over the years. I am writing a book right now where I am going through the process of the transmission of the Bible from the autographs though the ancient Bible manuscripts, the printed editions, and the translations. I am also going through the process of the Canonization of the books of the Bible. I am designing this book in way that it will be useful for both beginners and well advanced. I have my own unique ideas and theories that I will be sharing as well, and will also explain how the occult and secret societies have tried to get their dirty hands on it as well.

Thx again for your work. Those top 3 are truly significant. Isa 53 I believe is the portrait of the pattern we see in the Yom Kipper sacrifice. There’s more than one life described, where one dies and another suffers like the scapegoat just as it’s foreshadowed in that sacrifice. Only the second scapegoat prolongs his life and sees his offspring and after he suffers, he sees the light. Then you see by his knowledge he shares the wealth. It’s not just about Jesus, who didn’t exactly fulfill much of that and certainly not over a short weekend. And it hardly seems right that it would please god to see his son suffer on the cross the way he did. But it would please him to bring him back and cause him to live that scapegoat life to test him once again. That’s what you see in Rev as well, with the lamb who was slain since the beginning and is found worthy at the end to pop the seals.
It’s a consistent picture with the pattern set in Yom Kipper. The one crying out in the wilderness is the scapegoat that was banished from the community. Both messiahs are revealed in those suffering servant passages you mentioned in Malachi. Using John is a literary invention to say he was Elijah, like what Mathew did in a few other places, to assert Jesus was the messiah. But as we all know, Jesus didn’t fulfill the other messianic expectations. So neither did John. Yet today in Israel, Jesus is the scapegoat hated along with his followers and banished from the communities along with the Palestinians. Jesus is both lives pictured in Isa 53 and Yom Kipper. I thing the plural ‘deaths’ in the MT, though problematic, is more accurate.
One thing is for certain. It’s not about the Jewish people and the name Israel is bestowed, not assumed. The rider on the white horse has a name no one knows but he himself, and he’s the suffering servant.

    • @tbishop4961
      @tbishop4961 5 днів тому +1

The scapegoat doesn't "suffer"🥴. It sounds like you've learned about yom kippur from Christians who don't know it

    • @jerryhogeweide5288
      @jerryhogeweide5288 5 днів тому

@ The rabbis decided to lead the scapegoat straight over a cliff to keep it from returning, directly disobeying the command to turn it over to a caretaker. He was then supposed to set it free in the wilderness. Tradition says the red cloth would turn to white signifying the sacrifice was accepted. ‘Though your sins are red as scarlet, I will turn them white as wool’ or something along those lines. But the Talmud records that after 30CE, it no longer turned white. Suffering as I’m defining it for that goat was to be taken from its flock and community and ostracized, bearing the guilt of sin. But I suppose you have a point since it was lead over a cliff and immediately sacrificed anyway. That’s why the temple was destroyed. Not because they rejected Jesus, but because they didn’t follow the express commandment concerning that scapegoat. My point is the figure described in Isa 53 does fit someone despised and ejected from the community Our whole penal system is built on this concept of suffering by locking away from society and that scapegoat is the perfect representation of that. So not sure how you can claim that scapegoat didn’t suffer

G'day Dr Tabor, thanks for doing what you do. I am intrigued how Christians are the only people on earth who claim to be part of a kingdom but don't know the name of their kingdom. Eventually Christians will want to know the name of Jesus' kingdom. I love your work because it shows how text may not be as accurate as some may claim. I believe with all my heart "Peace" got missed up as peace and we lost the name of heaven. This is significant to me because what people believe to be true determines people's behaviour. Without the name Peace (Salem if you prefer) humankind continues to place its faith in 'peace by superior firepower' instead of 'Peace by Jesus Christ' and violence reigns supreme in 'keeping the peace' rather than education. E.g. Do we endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of Peace or is unity imposed by dominance and force? Hope it helps. Peace be with you Dr Tabor. ♥️✌️🤗

David is one of those figures that seem very strongly to be mythical in origin. A story character of song and folklore. Too many of his exploits are star stories. Psalm 151 does not read like an autobiography.
Why do some scholars say he was based on a real king? There is no justification for this claim. It is only a proposition they started with "until proven otherwise".

The Essenes were not located there. Essenes were located 25 miles south at Ein Gedi. The ones at Qumran called themselves the sons of Zadok. John the Baptist operated there. See John 1:28, the KJV indicates he was baptizing at Bethabara...this is modern day Qumran.

    • @rantonerik

These are debated points (ie whether the Qumran community and/or the Ein Gedi community were Essenes). You are correct that the Qumran community seemed to call themselves Sons of Zadok.

  • @Hebrew42Day
    @Hebrew42Day 5 днів тому

Dt 32:8 "sons of God" is Israel. Who is the firstborn son of God? Ex 4:22.
The redactor just made that section easier to understand.
in verse 43 however, that reads completely differently - it is telling us the heavens will bow down to Israel right?
(this is the NT interpretation of Hebrews, which equated the "sonS of God" with singular Jesus)
But that misses an important contextual note ->
Deu 32:36 LSB - "For Yahweh will render justice to His people, And will have compassion on His slaves, When He sees that [their] strength is gone, And there is none [remaining], bond or free.
It is YHVH the heavens (and I don't know why the Rabbis changed this to "nations") will bow down to, it is YHVH who will render justice, take vengeance as he says ->
Lev 19:18 LSB - 'You shall not take vengeance, and you shall not keep [your anger] against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself; I am Yahweh.
Vengeance belongs to YHVH God, not to "Israel" the SonS of God.
"bow down to him all you _GODS_ "
The question here, is did the original author intend to refer to heavenly beings as the Hellenized Jews and Christians believe - or was it something altogether different?
Elohim can refer to a man, the Psalm that Jesus misquoted in John ->
Jhn 10:34 LSB - Jesus answered them, "Has it not been written in your Law, 'I SAID, YOU ARE GODS'?
And it is EXTREMELY strange that Jesus calls a poem, "THE LAW" when it is not the law at all.
But let's look at that Psalm, is it referring to GODS in the heavens or CALLING MEN, _ELOHIM_ ?
Psa 82:1 NKJV - A Psalm of *Asaph* . God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.
    Who was Asaph?
God almighty stands and "judges among the ELOHIM (gods)"
Psa 82:2 NKJV - How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah
    Who is he talking about?
    ALL of mankind?
    Angelic beings?
or is he talking to the JUDGES AND KINGS who sit over the people and judge unjustly, showing partiality toward the wicked??
Psa 82:3-4 NKJV - Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free [them] from the hand of the wicked.
This is a repeated Torah command - and this is toward the wicked kings and judges that they turn and obey Torah.
Psa 82:5-6 NKJV - They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable. I said, "You [are] gods, And all of you [are] children of the Most High.
Again this appeal to the CHILDREN OF THE MOST HIGH?
    Who?
Exo 4:22 LSB - "Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says Yahweh, "Israel is My son, My firstborn.
    Israel. The leadership of Israel.
They are the ELOHIM over all the Earth, representing YHVH God.
Psa 82:7-8 NKJV - But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes." Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations.
"Gods" angelic beings don't die. Unless you're talking about Greek mythology, and it even tells you, though he calls them ELOHIM over the Earth, they are STILL MEN and WILL DIE LIKE MEN.
It is an appeal to their humility, to judge righteously then they will inherit ALL THE NATIONS.
Which ironically, is what Satan tempts Jesus with - the promise of YHVH is of Satan according to the NT.

In the book of Samuel... David is not a shepherd but Saul's lute player, Goliath is two cubits shorter, David insults Goliath with bad mouth, Goliath doesn't have bronze hoplite armor, they do not duel, David slays Goliath with the sword while the stone just knocked him down, and later David himself goes to Bathsheba, Uriah's wife, instead of Bathsheba being brought to David. There is also a scene where Pharaoh Shishak comes to Jerusalem during the reign of Jeroboam and steals the bronze (or golden) quivers that David had won from Hadadezer.
I have a good book about this topic called "Sensuroitu Raamattu" (The Censored Bible) written by Ville Mäkipelto, a Finnish scholar of textual changes in the Bible.

I've watched many videos about the two messiah's from many different perspectives. Most call them by the names, Messiah Son of David and Messiah Son of Joseph. One Jewish perspective I saw years ago claimed certain scriptures implied that Messiah Son of Joseph would be the first person at the end to be raised from the dead by Messiah Son of David. I found that very interesting. If Jesus became a life-giving Spirit, and we are to know no man after the flesh, not even Jesus, then Jesus actually became the Quantum field in whom we live and move and have our being. His spirit will facilitate the manifestation of the Sons of God which all creation is groaning and travailing to see appear, redeeming even the creation itself from corruption . Hebrews 11 says that all the great saints of old, having received a good report through faith, received not the promise, God having prepared something better for us. Aren't they in heaven? Or is the kingdom of God within us as Jesus said it was. Jeremiah said God would recompense the sins of the fathers into the bellies of the children and punish them all together. That doesn't sound fair, but it would certainly explain the Holocaust. No one will be able to say God was unjust. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. All? What about Jesus? He had to have John's baptism before he could receive the power he displayed. While Jacob and Esau were yet in the womb, God loved Jacob and hated Esau. No innocent child or age of accountability in that story. In the end, the Sons of God will cast their crowns before the throne of God. What crowns? Elijah will turn the hearts of the children to the fathers and fathers to the children. That's what Jesus did when he told his disciples that John was Elijah if they could receive it.That was one of John's crowns. John denied he was Elijah to the Pharasees . Jesus evidently hadn't told John that he was Elijah, though he was the greatest prophet born of woman, and more than a prophet. Many have entertained angels unaware. You have no idea who you talk to everyday unless the Holy Spirit leads you into all truth, shows you things to come and reminds you of all things Jesus has said unto you, as the Spirit was promised to do for us. We're in exciting times, apocalyptic times. De Ja Vu all over again!

We're is the Christians bible wrong, where does it become incorrect, from what the Jewish biblical texts are, as they say the Jesus name is wrong, it's yeshua or yeshu, as the name yeshu is mentioned in the Talmud, and amounts of the details of, yeshu, states that yeshu, being accused as being a criminal, because he wax leading the Jewish people Astray, = means that he was preaching to them actually, but it was not the stuff the synagogue was wanting to preach in their own Torah and tanakh synagogue rabbi's were preaching, so called yeshu a criminal for that, and the other side of his crimes, was of which craft, = means that he was performing mericals, of the like written into the Christians bible. So where is the Christians and Jewish texts change ?? I don't know, but the Christians are saying that yeshua is God, this is alarming to me

Also wels huff point out that Sunday is for Christian Sabbath and not Saturday, he did not even said that it is wrong, the change from Saturday to Sunday is due to persecution. This change is well known if you have studied at least a little bit of it
You can have thousands of scholarship but twisting the truth about scripture is a no no.
If Sunday is for Christian, then it is clearly that is a sign of the beast🤔.
The story is about Israel and not about so called "Christians", those who follow what is instructed and written is grafted to Israel simple as that.
