Good thinking to boost up the horse to make it look taller. The rest of the model looked proportional, it doesn’t help that the legs on the "smaller" horse are tucked up under it. Big fan of this series, keep up the good work!
Great comparison! 😍 An extra shot short with Perry & Victrix Medieval horses would have been the bomb - just to get an idea regarding possibilities to jump between these manufacturers too... (I know its not fitting your Empire theme...) Perhaps an ultimate horses comparison video in the future? (plus Claymore/Gripping Beast, ? etc.). BTW, your work here is priceless! Regarding all those tabletop videos almost nobody does this kind of content - which should seem so full of value to all kitbashers / people that mix-n-match between lines. Keep up your fantastic work! 🥳👌
@@diceassault thank you. I really appreciate your kind comments. I did some Perry, Wargames Atlantic, Claymore, Victrix and FireForge horse comparison in an earlier video while kit bashing Bretonnians and medieval armies but you’re absolutely right. Now that we have the Empire in Old World, and some more plastic horses, I will be doing the ultimate horse comparison video. I have to 😅
Love your videos keep up the awesome content started buying warhammer old world , victrix medieval, wargames Atlantic And now I have over 200 models that I really don't have a clue on how to paint but this is like plastic crack for me😁
It would be interesting to see if the renaissance heavy cavalry horse armour fits the pistoliers larger horses. It might be cool having the empire knights mounted on them to make them seem more imposing.
Thank you, very helpful and comprehensive. I don't play Warhammer but like to add the odd minis to my historical and fantasy armies for variety. I was wondering about the size comparisos of the Old Warhammer World, which to me after your comparisons seem much chunking than I thought. Thank you this is so helpful.
My Empire army consists of Perry's cavalry and foot troops plus some warlord games infantry. They scale well with each other. I got some of the northmen infantry and whilst nice they're not cheap. Plus there are no build instructions so several of my guys have 2 left legs or 2 right legs.
@@darthcheese7971 both Perry and warlord minis are gorgeous. I do like the Fireforge as well but you’re right, in comparison they aren’t as cheap. I’ll be looking at some Warlord Landsknecht next.
My take from that was "don't bother with the GW pistolliers kit cos both the horses and the models are too big". Problem solved. However, thanks for the comparison we all want to see but can't afford - this series is really helpful! Just another suggestion/comment - is there value in raising the GW barded horses by shaping the existing hooves into hair and molding new hooves to the bottom of these to give 3-5mm lift if you believe the rest of the model is in scale?
@@kerilawrence2669 that’s a great idea thank you and could work. I’ll probably try that out and see how it looks. Something for the next video in this series.
What do these miniatures look like when viewed from the angle and height you would be playing the game? The height differences might not be as noticeable from that angle and height.
@@ericdavis4964 Good question thank you. I think once they are assembled into units the differences will melt away. I’ll be looking at that in later videos once I start building my armies.

@@Tim1000064 thank you. I’m unboxing some Warlord Landsknecht in my next video which should be fun. They’ll probably form the bulk of my historical miniatures empire army. 😊
If it wasnt for the extra effort to make them look it i probably would have suggested de chaosifying the chaos knight horses considering they're almost close enough ascetic to the empire knight horses but more in scale with the pistoleers
@@TheSupporter76 it’s a great idea and yes, quite a bit of work. I do love the chaos knight horses though. I think they are some of the best looking steeds in Warhammer.
4:35 oh my, and we are not just talking about the codpeice! My that is a boastful accoutrement. Thing is that people are not all the same size, but still mixing ranges can look odd on the tabletop, I suppose you could use maths to work it out but going by eye is quicker which makes videos like this rather important.
@@aguilarraliuga1777 I got hold of a box when I started kitbashing my Bretonnians and I’ll be looking at them again during this Empire project. They are great miniatures.
I love the bodies and heads of the Oathmark humans, unfortunately the horses are not very good overall. I found I dislike the Fireforge Northmen heads too, so use Oathmark or Frostgrave ones instead. I also love the Northmen horses, but the Byzantine horses have the same basic bodies but with a smaller horse head, which I find disappointing.
very nice sets, they are however 28 mm truescale. Compared to the more or less 32mm heroic scale, those will always stand out as kinda small/slim besides GW miniatures. There are some very nice and fairly prized 3d printed alternatives available on etsy or midgard for a great prize. Highland miniatures come to mind.
@@Jewus19 that’s a good point thank you. Ironically I do have some Highland miniatures given to me by a friend who had them printed out too small for Warhammer. Even though the scales are different between many fantasy and historical miniatures I have found on occasion that they are still good for head swaps or kitbashing. Sometimes the results can be pleasantly surprising.
@@rossdiggle nice idea. I’ll have to look at the Old World lore because I’m a bit naive. I’ve got some medieval historical miniatures to make a Bretonnian army with and now these WA Renaissance / conquistador and some Warlord Landsknecht to use.
Unless you want to model "High Helms" i don't see why you would want oversized humans for your Empire armies, after all it looks more heroic if your more monstery enemies loom over the humans. Buying GW is essentially paying more for less accurate figures.
