Edwards is not a good defender. He’s easily beat off the dribble. His spacing is ALWAYS off (hence why he can’t contest any shots longer than 15 feet from the basket). And you will always see him take plays off as soon as he gets even a little winded. If Edwards MUST defend, we better pray it’s against a slow footed dude with a terribly slow jumper, or else Ant ain’t giving you shit on offense due to how easily he gets tired.

Starting 5 should be by FMVPs and then rings. Lebron, KD, Kawhi, then Steph. With AD alongside them. Can't do it by "current skill" or "eye test"...will for sure get the locker room totally screwed up if that's the way they go. Yeah. That was a disaster. We couldn't get a rebound. Triple J was the wrong choice for our lone big man in int'l ball. I thought a tall athletic guy would automatically be a good rebounder. But he isn't. We were stuck with (a very young, green) Banchero and Josh Hart trying to control the paint against the giant Europeans. Totally the fault of Coach Kerr and his Small Ball strategy.
Just switch the lineups depending on your opponent
The 96 team switched the lineups when certain teams had bigger players.
This years team have the ability to just switch up guys.
Watching this podcast after watching Tatum on team USA be classic Tatum (turning the ball over, bricking 3s, and getting stuffed by the rim) HILARIOUS!!!

I agree Bill. It’s going to be so hard. Man is it tough winning by 20/30 points. I do not envy Steve Kerr. I don’t know how he’s going to manage blowing out all these countries all the way to a gold medal. I mean the games are going to be over by the 3rd quarter, what’s Kerr going to do then??? Make early dinner reservations? Figure out what restaurant to go to? Figure out a tee time for the next day? What beverage should he bring to the course? Does he want to partner with coach Lou or coach Spo? Geeeezus those are some tough decisions Kerr has to make. I guess we’re going to figure out what he’s made of after this! God bless him. Poor guy.

I agree that it should be a bigman lineup, but I think since theres no 3s defensive violation and more relaxed goal tending rules. You need to put in rebounders and shot blockers. France is going to be a nightmare with Gobert and Wemby + the no 3s defensive violation

I went to see Olympic qualifying in 2007 and was in the front row and it was amazing to me how tall Tayshaun Prince was compared to everyone else on the team. He was taller than Dwight for sure, and he's listed at 6'9".
Dwight also had shoulders that looked like bowling balls and Prince looked like he'd be blown over by a stiff breeze, but the fight difference was a surprise.
Tayshun Prince: teenage memory, EA had a college basketball game that was lit 🔥, I used to play with Kentucky and “Tashuan Prince” ~ the same game that Ed O’Bannon famously sued for …. N.ame.I.mage.and.L.ikeness

But honestly I’ve always said that about Tayshun Prince early in his rookie season, while observing him in the layup line pre game~ my friends and myself were at the Wizards games, Jordan’s last season and DC was on fire 🔥 lol, and remarkably enough we all noticed how tall and thin Tayshun was, and my friend said I guess EA ain’t lie 😂

That was not a good segment. Aparantly tatun is 6'10 with no flaws. Plays pg and c in the same game and is awesome at both. In reality he is somewhat unreliable and not the offensive weapon that kd is. He isnt 6'10 by the way. Bam still looks a hair taller and he is 6'9 ish.

Steph, LeBron, KD, and Embiid are all 100% starters, no questions asked. I’d go with Ant as the 5th starter, but you could easily just put Tatum or even Booker in there instead. Especially if it turns out Ant’s ego actually is going to be an issue (I don’t think it will be, but still some eyebrow raising comments).
Haliburton being on this roster at all is insane when you could’ve had either Kyrie or Donovan Mitchell instead. After another injury ended season, Kawhi being on this team is also crazy. Kyrie and Donovan should really be in those two spots.
The three guys you would really want running their offense is going to be lebron, Haliburton and tatum, Hali doesnt have to be better than mitchell or kyrie to fit better.
@@jessejamesgames8148 I just think Hali is wildly overrated and doesn’t belong on this roster. Maybe 4 years from now, but he’s not ready yet, IMO. Not only that, but you don’t need his “fit” when you’ve already got as many guys as they do that can serve that role.

Honestly, with a team this stacked, it doesn't really matter which 5 you have on the floor. Start the old guys for the prestige, let the young guys do the heavy lifting mid game, then bring the old guys back in to close (unless the game is close, then bring in guys based on the match-up).
If the US players put their egos aside it is a home run. The competition does not matter at this point when you have so much talent. But if the chemistry is not there then watch out… France and Canada would love to seize any opportunity you give them.
Your closing lineup and starters should be Curry-Tatum-Durant-Lebron-Embiid

Personally, I think Leonard, Tyrese and Bam are probably the last 3 off the bench. I also realize Embid might be better but he has also been injured so for me he would be off the bench as well. My starting lineup would be Steph, Edwards, James, KD, AD. I want AD as well because of the built in chemistry between he and Lebron. I think that makes sense. My second unit would be Jru, Booker, Kawhi, Tatum, Embid.

International play is going to be shorter, quicker players across the board (except maybe France). It's not insane to have him out there for defensive versatility for some matchups.
But watching how Kerr coached the US team out of the World Cup last summer I don't have much hope they will try to match up to different opponents. He will just run the same team out there with legacy players no matter what. So no feelings get hurt.

Russilo hit the nail on the head. JB got MVP because of his defense on Luka but Tatum was guarding the 5 spot! And led the team in points, rebounds, and assists. Robbed for sure. Seems like the NBA voters were making up for JB not being an All-NBA player, which was also ridiculous
This is Lebron’s, Curry’s, and Durant’s swan song. As long as they aren’t hurt, they’re starting. I think AE is the most ambitious and is out to prove himself.
